I had a subscription up until a few days ago(which I had to cancel due to money issues),and I was bummed by the delay, but when money is no longer a concern I will be renewing my sub. I wanted to put in my two cents about my experience with Paizo.

I like that when I call Paizo(and I have a few times, some times just to ask questions) I don't have to deal with an automated answering device, I get a human being before the 3rd ring, and I almost always speak to the same associate who is always helpful and pleasant. There aren't many companies you can say that about. I also like that we have this forum, in which People like Mike, Tanis,and Vic will take time out of their day to answer our questions. I've found Paizo's prices to be reasonable(everyone has to make a living), and if it is a little more then other vendors I think that having a personal connection with the people you buy your games from is priceless(try asking amazon for advice about your custom character build or ask them for clarification of rules :> ).I know you could buy games elsewhere and still use the boards, and I'm fairly new to the gaming scene, but I would imagine that not every company gives you such access to the designers and execs.

From what I've seen Paizo knows exactly how we feel. They were expecting something and did not receive it. Most companies would throw the printer under the bus,but Mike who has worked with them before even defended them.Sometimes stuff happens and I like that that was Paizo's response instead of pointing a finger. I just want to say to the Paizo and Loneshark teams that I appreciate the work you guys do and keep it up ;).

So, crazy thought #873... What about trying to accelerate the WotR set by one month so that the fall 2015 set comes out in July instead of August? Paizocon has been moved up to offer more time to focus on Gencon, maybe moving a product line like PACG up a month and nailing down all the necessary SKUs before August might help?

This would allow for release of season 2 at Gencon, people would have their cards, they would have their decks, and there wouldn't be this feeding frenzy on Thursday.

I know it is fun and likely important to the business model to release things at the big con every year, but aren't the lines long enough already for you poor folks? If nothing else there would be more room in the trucks for more hardcovers!

PaizoCon might have been moved up a bit because GenCon 2015 starts end of July not mid-August.


I understand missing the ship date. Things happen. Printing issues/shipping issues/etc...

My biggest problem with this entire situation is that I have been CHARGED for both the Base Set of S&S along with the Character Add-On. Currently, the order states that I will be receiving both. I have been running under that assumption, but everything I've read seems to point to something that I've been charged for actually hasn't shipped.

If this is the case, should I (and everyone else) not be given a refund? Do you intend to charge us and then ship it whenever you want? That hardly seems like a good business model. Make us pay when you have the product ready... not before that. We've put our trust into Paizo by signing up for the subscription service. And then to not even send out a blanket email to your subscribers to update us... it's very frustrating.

The posts that I've seen have said that they are trying to determine who was already charged (but not received product) so they can send out emails to them.


I believe that the plan for people that were actually charged for the character add-on* is to essentially ship you the character add-on with no shipping cost in September. They will charge your September order shipping as if the character add-on was not part of it.

*Keep in mind, you subscription typically generates two emails. The first email is an authorization email. It tells you what will be in the order. The second email is the shipment email. It tells you "A package containing X items from order XXXXX is expected to ship by XXXX" and includes a sentence like "This order has been processed and finalized for shipment. It can no longer be altered." Your charges are finalized when the second email is generated.

I did get the second email to let me know that ALL items including the Character Add-On were coming.

Ok. So from what I understand, your order should be out the door as of Friday, but your Character Add-on Deck won't be included. I don't know what happened for people in your situation that they were given shipment notices on the 7th other than maybe the printer had said they would be dropping some products off on the 8th. That email (and the charges) basically happen when they print your shipping label. So, for some reason, they printed your shipping label. I don't know if that was a glitch where the system thought there were add-on decks in the warehouse, but weren't, or if Paizo was under the impression the add-on decks would be arriving at any time. But whatever it was, at some point they stopped the label printing (I haven't gotten my shipment email yet).

I DID get an email last night about them moving my add-on deck and promos to my sidecart. Not sure if you got that too or maybe because you are in a different situation they are working on a different email for you.

Just the base set though. Vic had said the printer was shipping directly to distributors, but that they didn't seem to have been delivered yet. So now it seems the base sets are getting to distributors. So retailers are in the same situation as Paizo now: Base Set but no Character Add-on.


Feeling a bit forgotten here with no email contact since the 5th and the subscription page still showing S&S Base Game in both August and September. It's good to know that things are happening, but in the future it'd also be nice to get an email directly explaining the problem, or at least updating the expected ship date.

Just some feedback for the future...

Did you subscribe to the bundled set? I had and was in that boat as well - no email, base in Aug and Sep... My promos had moved into the sidecart but the base + add-on was sitting as pending/backordered without moving. I spoke with CS and there's some issues with the bundled set that's causing it not to update, so my order had to be manually untangled.

I just subscribed to PACG from Rise of the Runelords AP2 and I have whatever that turned into for S&S. I don't know if that means I have a bundled set or what. I got an email on 8/5 about the shipping and about authorizing my card (which never got charged). And if I look at the page now I see S&S base and one promo card "currently pending," and S&S base, S&S Character Add-On, AP2, and a promo with a "payment method authorized" date of 9/4 and a "should ship by" date of 9/26.


Glad to hear that CSI got their shipment of base sets as I ordered from them as well. Unfortunately, I had ordered the new character mats with it and those still appear to be unavailable with them and holding up my base set from shipping.

I think they thought it was ready to ship out. That was the impression I got from Vic's comment. They thought everything was okay up until close of business on Aug. 22nd when they still had no Add-On deck even though it was promised to them.

I'm in a similar situation. I was going to drive up during lunch to pick up my order and play some PACG tonight but then noticed the character add-on decks aren't in yet, so I can't pick up my base set yet. Hopefully they come in soon. I'm trying not to do anything crazy like buy a 2nd base set just to jump into the game now. :P At only $39.99 (minus my rewards discount), it's mighty tempting...


Received an e-mail, got $10 worth of credit, and free shipping for the char add on pack next month.

I'm satisfied with the resolution.

Yeah I got the email saying I should have gotten another email as well. At least I can see that the Add-On has been moved to September so there's that. Though what I'd REALLY like is to get the Add-On as soon as it's available, regardless of the subscription's regular shipping window: with one AP per month it's going to be hard not to fall behind if I can't start playing with my final crew until AP2 comes out, and the thing most likely to make me cancel my subscription will be me falling behind.


Here are the details of what is happening:

Shortly before 6 pm EST (3pm PST) they started running the process to correct all the orders, which will take 4-8 hours to finish.

Around 6:30 pm EST (3:30 PST) they noticed that it was sending an email saying you should get another email, but wasn't sending the actual email. But you should be able to see the changes on "My Account" under orders when they happen.

The warehouse has gotten organized to be primed and ready to actually get things out the door as fast as possible.

Got the same email. Nice to get official word straight from CS. Not to be dense and I am tired but wouldn't shipping something free with the other subscription items still increase the amount of shipping? It's not like they can leave the weight of the deck off when the package is weighed and shipped through UPS or whoever is the carrier. I suppose a shipping credit will be applied for the difference? In any case the $10 would make up for it and is a nice gesture.

wow, all of my orders are shifted around, no longer know what ive paid for and what wasnt. also confused about the screen i ordered.... in one order it shows pending, in another it shows moved to side cart....

I got the first email saying I should have gotten my shipping email last night, then the actual shipping email tonight almost 24 hour later. And nothing in either about a credit or free shipping, nor has any credit appeared in my account. Did the credit just show up or was it stated in your email?

Free shipping likely means they won't include the add-on deck when calculating what you get charged for shipping, they're eating the extra weight.


Check your order in your account and see if it was applied there or not. (Maybe as a shipping and handling discount?) I'm not sure if the $10 credit was for everyone or just those that had gotten the shipping email more than 2 weeks ago. (Those people were essentially charged for shipping the character add-on deck even though it didn't ship.)


No emails today beyond the "should have gotten another email" email here. But if I look at My Subscriptions, the promo card has been removed from the pending August order (I think it's the one that's now listed as "sidecart" in September), and I still have the second copy of S&S Base listed in the September shipment.

There should have been something for everyone, not just a credit for those that got charged. Even if it's only $5 for those that only had the add on deck, everyone who had the add on deck should have been compensated.

My base set did come into my store today though. 80% of my boons (base set, Adv 1 was fine) were cut noticeably low, many even to the point of showing white on the bottom. I'm definitely emailing Paizo to get them all replaced, it's horrible. We played tonight without issue because we tried not to pay attention to it, but all my boons (I don't think any support/banes/neutrals were messed up) need to be replaced.


I got an email saying there would be another email, and the order which has been pending all month.

Character add-on plus promos are now sitting in the side-cart with no indication of when these might actually ship.

Not massively thrilled.


@Mighty Jim...same here. No base game shipped even though it is at CSI. Promos all in the side cart. This is just frustrating. I pay more as a subscriber. Is it so much to ask that things get to me when they get to retail, if not before. Why am I the subscriber, the last to receive the game? Don't I feel special...

Sidebars ship with your next shipment, as always. I don't think that these issues are going to extend past the initial release, so the add-on deck and promos should come out at the normal subscription time (mid-September). They will be in the box with your Adventure 2

I looked at my order that now only shows the base set, and it shows that the total price of my order (base set only) is $90.

Subtotal (1 item) $47.99
Shipping & Handling $50.44
Shipping & Handling Discount - $7.99

Can that possibly be right? Im cancelling it no matter what but that's insane.

You will not receive two base sets. Every subscriber will get one shipped very soon. The one you see in September is a glitch because the system knows you are past the scheduled August fulfillment date so it wants to give you what you didn't get in August in your September order. Mine has even shipped and I still see it in September. I'm sure once they get done shipping everything, the next thing will be to remove the Base Set from September orders.

Promos are coming with the character add-on deck. In an effort to help people that wanted to save on shipping for the base set by canceling the base set and buying it somewhere else, Paizo associated the promos with the character add-on deck and let people resubscribe for just that. (i.e. Paizo said, "We want to do the best we can for our subscribers. So we will remove what is for most people probably the largest incentive to buy directly from us from the most expensive item in the product line. That way you can afford to buy our other products and not miss out on a single thing.") So the promos are assigned to the shipment that has the character add-on deck. I'm sure breaking that association and associating them with the Base Set for those getting the base set not only would have been problematic because the promos would have two associations, it would have also taken too much time and they wanted to get us as much of our subscriptions as soon as they could at this point. So you'll get a ton of promos in September subscription shipments.

Not unless you paid for some super secret double probation priority shipping rate. If you weren't going to cancel, I'd say contact customer service, preferably by phone to have them fix it. (If you are going to cancel, I'd also recommend calling today when they open 2 hours from now to make sure they don't ship it.)

Out of curiosity, what would have been in your order with out all the problems? The character add-on right? Any class decks? Just wondering if there was something that would have pushed the shipping that high.

Just the add-on, not getting into any class decks right now. Must be a mistake, but either way there's no point to waiting extra and paying more money for the base set when I can get it from a store here for less money. Will start my subscription in September with the add-on and promos.

I received the two emails yesterday, one of which led me to think that the Base Set shipped last Friday for me ("Since we already printed the label for your package, we have already charged your payment method for the Character Add-On deck... ...The other items that were in the original order with your Add-On deck have already been shipped as of Friday, August 22nd."). But the order is still listed as pending. So I guess it will be a pleasant surprise when it shows up on my doorstep!

I got my shipping email yesterday and I can track it. Did you get a shipping email back on the 7th or 8th? If so, it should have the tracking info in it. Does that show any tracking?

If you didn't get a shipping email back on the 7th or 8th, then they may have missed identified you in that group.

EDIT: Looking back through your old posts, looks like you said that on the 7th your subscription had been marked complete, but then they changed something in your order for you. Maybe that threw a wrench in it. If you don't have an email with the tracking info, or your tracking info shows no data, I'd contact customer service. You might be in a unique circumstance due to that order change.


It seems my order was held up again because they were using my old card number and it failed. I had already added the new number to the site and that subscription however! That software of their's simply has to go :(


Got a shipping mail this morning. Tracking still reports the "label has been created" message that you get before they scan it into the UPS system. Also still have a second copy of the base game threatening to be charged on 9/4.

That was me yesterday. Late last night (at least late EST), UPS picked it up and it is now on its way to me. I still have the base set in September too, but I'm sure they'll get that fixed once they have all the products shipped out for August.

I received my box yesterday with just the base set and my Iron Gods AP. My shipment tracking had the Add-on and promos included until sometime in the late afternoon when the emails went out, so I was under the impression that all of those products were in my box until I opened it, got frustrated, and checked my email.

Separately, to a prior point above, the print quality of the base set I received is erratic. The borders, both front and back, of a large amount of cards is very uneven. I haven't played with the cards yet, so can't say how obvious they are as "marked" cards, but it was certainly noticeable while sleeving.

I got an e-mail on the 8th, but I don't think it was a shipping e-mail, as it is still listed as Pending in that message. I got another on the 12th when the class deck I ordered was put back in the side-cart. Looks like I should get in touch with customer service again.

So just talked with a customer service rep - and thats the right shipping cost. Thats just how much it costs to ship internationally. Crazy, makes no sense to ever get the base game from Paizo if you are international. Will start the subscription in September.

Yeah. A lot of the international subscribers are in the same situation. That is why Paizo associated the promos with the character-add on deck, so you could cancel your subscription before the base set ships, then re-subscribe for just the character add-on deck and still get all the promos. Then just pick up the base set locally.
