Sorry to say, but a PC card game would be a major disapointment to me.
There is already a plethora of cheap card games out there for PC and none of them are really good. The best is still the Game of Thrones LGC, which is fun and tactical and can be played on octgn.
I do expect a lot more from Paizo, that´s why they are my favorite gaming company after all!

I'd be ok with the card game. I do enjoy it. however, I would be seriously disappointed if my all time favorite RPG game developer Tim Cain isn't making this TOEE 2.0

maybe tim cain will finally make the spiritual successor to TOEE, my mind might honestly explode if that happens

Mask of the betrayer was excellent. However was is most important is that Tim Cain the man responsible for the paragon of 3.5 ruleset games now resides at obsidian, and the possiblity that we may finally get the spiritual successor to TOEE makes this the most exciting annoucement in a loooooooooooong time.

I'm starting to suspect that your name is Tim Cain.

OBSIDIAN ANNOUNCES PATHFINDER LICENSE

Obsidian to partner with Paizo Inc. to release electronic Pathfinder games

INDIANAPOLIS -- August 13, 2014 -- Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: the Stick of Truth and the Kickstarter phenomenon Pillars of Eternity, announced that they have entered into a long-term licensing partnership with Paizo Inc. to produce electronic games based on its popular Pathfinder Roleplaying Game intellectual property

Obsidian's first licensed product will be a tablet game based on the highly successful Pathfinder Adventure Card game, a cooperative game for 1 to 4 players. Players each have a unique character composed of a deck of cards and a set of stats. Characters have classes such as fighter, rogue, wizard and cleric, as well as numbers that define attributes such as strength, wisdom and charisma etc. Players will be able to customize their deck to better suit each individual’s vision of their character.

"At Obsidian we have a long history of working with the greatest RPG franchises, and we're thrilled to get to play in the Pathfinder universe now," said CEO Feargus Urquhart. "We're huge fans and can't wait to bring what we do in the electronic gaming world to Pathfinder fans everywhere".

In the world of Pathfinder, players take on the role of brave adventurers fighting to survive in a world beset by magic and evil. The Pathfinder RPG is currently translated into multiple languages, with hundreds of thousands of players worldwide. The Pathfinder brand has also been licensed for comic book series, graphic novels, miniatures, plush toys, apparel, and is being developed into a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game.

"Obsidian is a video game developer at the top of its game", said Paizo CEO Lisa Stevens. "Being able to bring that type of experience and passion to Pathfinder can only mean great things, both for our loyal Pathfinder community and for all fans of great CRPG's."

Obsidian will be at Gen Con 2014 showing off an early prototype of the digital Pathfinder Adventure Card Game in the Paizo booth (#203) and in their own booth (#2151) featuring the first consumer hands on for Pillars of Eternity.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I'm personally VERY excited for this. I love the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game and would be super happy to be able to play it on my tablet all the time. I just hope they don't make it iPad-only...

Can't stand CCGs or the like, but I'm really excited for ya'll.
Big step into a broader market! Kudos :)

One nice thing about the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game is that it's NOT a collectible game. The cards are all there, no random packs. That's why I also really enjoy Munchin (and the Pathfinder edition of it). I personally HATE collectible card games.

Nice. I don't play Magic with real cards, but I love the app, so this will be a great way to try out the Pathfinder Card game without having to commit to building a deck.

I'm just hoping there will be more than just the card game app.

Kinda lost me at "tablet game". But I like the direction.

Yeah I'm also hoping to hear about other specific games that they're planning using this license. I would play the *BLEEP* out of a Diablo-style or Baldur's Gate-style RPG game set in Golarion.

Cosigned.

How is Obsidian's track record with Add-on content? I'm kind of tired of pay-once-then-keep-paying revenue models.

And excitement ... extinguished. Call me when the announcement doesn't include the words "tablet," "app" or "card game."

Cool, I guess, for people who are into that sort of thing. Personally, very disappointed. Note: I have $50+ with Paizo's and Obsidian's names on it as soon as you announce an actual CRPG I can play on an actual computer.

+1, sadly. Shame. Congratz for those who enjoy this type of thing but it's not my cup of tea. Oh well.

Neat! I'll almost assuredly end up playing the ACG this way, as soon as I can pry the tablet from my spouse's hands :)

Cheers!

Another possibility is they could be making the pathfinder adventure card game into a computer game, similar to Magic The Gathering, and Warcraft's Hearthstone.

That said, i'd prefer a CRPG. by far.

You know what I say in life, why do you have to choose? Why not have both?

:)

The tablet card game sounds like the best first step (relatively easy to make, gets the brand out there, etc.), and I'll play it as long as it's available on Android, but it's not something I'm really very excited about.

So, I guess I'll look forward to these promised "more details throughout the weekend"!

:-)

I dont have a tablet but I want to play this so bad. Having played the actual PF Card game... That is one shuffle heavy game that seriously could use a computer automatically shuffling.

A little disappointed that it's for the card game. I do love the PACG, but not as interested in the digital versions. That said, it's promising that they have the license, and I look extremely forward to a Divinity: Original Sin or TOEE style game in the future. :D

There will be a CRPG. Just no details to announce right now. Our deal with Obsidian is a long term partnership. I expect there will be many games over the coming years. The card game app was easier for them to get up running fast. There will even be a demo at our booth at GenCon. But there are other plans that will be revealed in time.

Super excited that this is finally public! Looking forward to working with Obsidian on a bunch of awesome Pathfinder games!

+1. Not my cup of tea either. I am playing NWN2 for the 10th or so time. Also have played ToEE at least 4 times. Guess I will give "Divinity - Original Sin" a try next.
