3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?

other things to ask

1. Where is the original thread?
2. All core and base classes?
3. Races allowed?
4. Guns and gunslinger rules?
5. What type of inquistor was he? Like what was his specialty, what skills did he contribute and was he more of a healbot, battle inquistor or something else?

Cleric here. Game thread is Here

Game is slow moving.

1. Here

2. Yes

3. Core+Tiefling

4. Yes and emerging

5. Hard to say, More or less offensive.

One more question, how much gold do we get to build with.

Normally it'd be slightly lower but the group came into quite a hefty windfall recently so the normal 10,500gp.

Any rules on spending it?

Sounds interesting!
After reading up on Nickola Tesla (the guys a freaking genus, and basically the mother of electricity. He holds the world record for longest man-made lightning, from 200 years ago... Sientists still havnt caught up to him yet..) i have been itching to create an electric wizard mastermind (Muhahaha!)so this might be the oppertunity?
A little worried i might be stepping on the witches toes tho...

1. Not really sure why im here yet... Doing research on electricity and energy transferrence and other sciency stuff to complex to explain and heard that an area near here (possibly a nexus or ruin?) was rich in power. The kind i am looking for. (could use a little help here)
2. At the immediate moment Nikola cares little about the ruling class or the government. He wants to focus on his research and experements, but... his "experements" are starting to get too dangerious and the athorities dont like it. They are starting to resist his efforts and hinder him. Nikola is coming to the realization that the government is going to have to change and he is slowly turning his great intelect to the task of reforming the political structure to one that is more.. Accomidating to his research.
3. In character, i am leaning towards a himan diviner wizard wih a huge bent towards electricty. (he is so smart he can predict aspects of the future, and his forte is electricity) As a wizard, he can lend massive utility to the party as i intend to play him for his supporting abilities when i can, with a shot of electricity when i can ;)
As a player, i can offer good roleplaying oppertunities, setting up others for a fun experience and often offer a bit of comedy relief :)
(and shorter posts then this, tho i hate one-line posts)
4. I generally let my characters "character and mannerisms" develop organicly while having the crunch predetermined (and ignored for what circumstance dictates). For Nickola, he will be a briliant thinker, often humming and hawwing, with all of his "divinations and insights" played out as his intelect logically coming to conclusions, like sherlock holmes.
Mechanically, i invision a more control and support based wizard with intelect driven forsight (divinations) and electrical contraptions (electricity spells). Still working on this XD
5. Hmmm. I seem to doubt you have the propper athourity to carry out this particular act of justice. Oh, dont let me stop you! Just know that i will be following up on this particular act with your supperiors to make sure of due dilligance. I am correct that in this particular jurisdiction, correctional action also involves your family correct? Oh ya. One last thought. You DO know that all this is being recorded by my remote scrying device, correct?
Basically bulls#%ting and talking my way out, or
I transmutate your spiked boot into a rabid wombat and summon a flaming cottonball in your trousers and laugh hysterically while turning invisible. Then cast a grease slick under your feet followed by irresistable dance. Just for kicks. bad pun... Sorry!

Dotting. Played through book 1 and 2 with a local gaming group, but then RL reared its ugly head.

Liberty's Edge

Here is my submission.

Sorry it is not quite updated for level but I need to go to table top game (need to do spells and equipment)

I will finish tomorrow and also answer the questions.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Crunch will be up tonight but here are his answers.

1 I've lived here my whole life under the oppressive rule of the devils.
2 I believe a new form of government would be a better solution rather than puttin new faces on a already corrupt system.
3 I would be able to provide trap finding capabilities, some time buying tricks so others can heal, translator, and other general rogueiness.
4 Roleplay wise Quirik is battling with himself between his infernal heritage and his own quest of redemption for his ancestors sins. Mechanically he's going to be improving his fighting capabilities at feat lvls and improving his trap capabilities with his rogue tricks. The skills he's put ranks into will continue to improve as such becoming even more versed in languages.
5 "Before you try to stomp my face in I have one thing to say, you look amazing." Drops Darkness and bolts down the alley where a swinging axe trap is set up.

So Cleric, Witch, and Fighter? What role would you guys like to see added?

It looks like a skirmisher/skills/traps guys would fit perfectly. I'll see what I can put together. Let me know if something else would help the group more.

Cleric is kinda fragile since I rolled low on HP, so someone who can back the fighter up would be good

Witch's familiar here.

As far as roles we have an excellent generalist cleric and the Witch is well a Witch so cursing/SOL is covered.

We maybe could use a face? The dearly departed took this role but the AP, in this rat's opinion, really lacks scope for social solutions.

Though it might not have helped that the party contained an insane Witch and a follower of the unmaker for most of the run. The unmaker was unmade, the Witch is still nuts.

We only have one decent direct combatant in the group. So whoever makes the cut will need to be able to actively remove targets. I am thinking a martial or a wizard/sorcerer but I am very open to other ideas.

On a personal note. Witches are weak against mindless things and most undead, having clear strengths to compensate for my purported master's weaknesses would go far towards earning the rodent vote.

The Exchange

Hi if you are still looking for an additional player I would like to audition for the role with a character recently created.

Ebon Darkstrike
Ebon is a Lawful Neutral inquisitor devoted to Law. A Chelaxian native of Westcrown, Ebon is a champion of law and order, something he sees little of in his home city, with its bickering noble houses, thieves, and worse. He also disapproves of the current regime, seeing the House of Thrune's alliance with devils as part of a long slide into chaos and anarchy. Gods forbid! As he sees it, the rightful ruling family should be a descendant of the last emperor, and they should be reinstalled on the throne. So Ebon has chosen at last to make his stand against the powers of Chaos (whether or not they are actually Chaotic in alignment). Who knows where his divine powers come from - perhaps he has garnered a bit of dead Aroden's power, or is being sponsored by some other god or powerful force for order? Who knows? Ebon is not sure himself, rather he sees his powers as just another tool in his struggles to defend justice and order.

An interview with Ebon Darkstrike

1. Why are you in Westcrown? "Westcrown is my home and I promise, it shall be restored to its former glory!"

2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government? "Who are these petty nobles who squabble amongst themselves? True nobility is those who would organize the populace so that it reaches its true potential. Let us bring back the imperium!"

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group? "My mace, crossbow, and magic are at your command. Words are my weapon as well. Unlike the hellknights, I do not believe in subjugation through intimidation. Much better to inspire people to join your side."

4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically? Roleplay-wise, I've never played a character with such an extreme alignment slant, so thought it'd be an interesting challenge. I think the original inspiration for Ebon came from RL issues at the time making life very chaotic for a time, and I was wishing I had the power to lay down the law. It will be interesting to see him interact as part of a group, especially as I suspect the existing party might not all hold to the same philosophy. Whether he sticks to his ideals or softens somewhat in his outlook would be interesting to see.

Mechanically, Ebon is a straightforward inquisitor, designed for melee combat but with spells at his disposal and also able to interact in social situations too. With GM's approval, I was also considering multiclassing as cleric, mainly out of a desire to be able to blast foes with a plethora of spells of Divine Law. However, I thought the inquisitor build best suited his outlook.

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt? "Remove thyself, miscreant! What law says you can lay a hand on me? Lay a hand on me and I will realign your spiked boot until you see those spikes gouging out your skull." Ok maybe need to work on the bombast.

That's basically the flavour of the character, but can post the stats too if desired. It looks like the game is progressing about as fast as my own online AP games. I take it that material then from the Ultimate books is fair game?

Hi this is Nikola here :)
Going by what was said, i am wondering if this character might be a better submission. He is Rockjaw the Relentless. Dwarven Barbarian Armored Hulk. An indomatible boulder, unstoppable and hard as rock. And wearing 280lb of stone he calls armor...
Where Nikola is a squishy wizard, overpowering things with his mind, shooting powerful lightning and thinking up complex solutions to problems, Rockjaw is an invulnerable boulder, plowing his way through his problems, letting nothing stand in his way :) Black vs White (well slate grey vs electric yellow...)

I dont know who would be better but Rockjaw would be able to back up the party fighter, is largely done already and would be more fun for me to play :)

Interview:

Whas' that? You in-tah-vewing me? Im busy! Outa ma way!

1. Why are you in westcrown?
Is tha where I be? I ah came outa them mines o'er yonder. Ah came from Vanderholfen, no course ya ner heard of it! Its beyond tha West Mountians! An found ma way inta the great halls O' Halsigg Halfhammer as one O' his Thunderers. Then onwards ta tha Kingdom O' Azora where I became a Knight fer tha Order of the New Dawn. After a time i was back underground, moving ever eastwards an here I am. Guess'n tha this is where Torag wants me now.

2. Given the chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government?
Wha? Course not. That never happened. Why you think that? AH.. You mean now? Good. I thought you knew about ma past, actually nevermind...
in his backstory, he did... Murder a group of nobles... It was the reason he set out to begin with. While he wouldnt overthrow the government for his own gain, he could be persuaded to do so for others (or manipulated ;) not hard to do, just point him in one direction and go! Just dont expect him to change direction...)

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?
Ma back. Its a back ya sissies can hide behind. An one you can follow inta battle. I can also push people around quite well, keep em off balance and distracted. Jus don get me angry. I get mighty fierce(and reckless) when ah get angry. I be a good fighter, sentenel an lookout, or if needed, i can clear traps tha barbarian way! I can also tell good dwarven stories an sing glorious dwarven song! Jus dont ask me ta climb, sneak or swim. Seriously. Dont. An i hate water by Torag!

4. How do you expect to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?
roleplay wise, he is already developing :) having been in 2 short campaigns, he has developed quite the phenominal background scattered throughout Piazo. He has headbutted a boulder in two (tru story!), won a shoving match with a flail snail, graduated from murdering outcast to paladin to thunderer (dwarven firearm artilery), to knight, and hes back on his neverending journey underground :)
In the future he will probably develop relations with the other party members and piss off a few guards ;D
Mechanically he is only lvl 2 right now so he needs to be upgraded. Better at front line duty, better at combat maneuvers and he will become more robust. (debating superstitious.. Probably not...)

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked boot in your butt?
Ya kicked me? Ah didnt even feel a thing... Now outa my way, this interview is over by TUNDAR! Rockjaw shoves the hellknight down, crushing his ribcadge as all 360lb of stone and dwarf walks over and past him, headbutting the door down as he goes...

Sorry to make you read all that! I started writing this and got re-intrested in him again! Would love to play my stone covered dwarf tank again!
Oh ya, in game the dwarven accent will be toned down :(
It just slows things down trying to type and read like that...

Like Arie, I too played through books 1 and 2, but RL also backstabbed us.

I am interested, and I got an idea for a new character. Has the party, by chance, gained the confidence of either a hellknight or perhaps other police figure in Westcrown? Someone who becomes an informant to them due to disenchantment with the system? I'm thinking of making up such a character, maybe an urban ranger so as to fill in the roguish void in the existing party.

Nope. The witch and the former Inquisitor were very anti Hellknight/Noble

I would love a chance to join this campaign. I am looking for a long term game. I have never abandoned a PbP.

I have a character concept that would be a rogue if that's what the party wants. Or could be a hybrid that goes duelist eventually.

What type of character would the party like to see join?

Liberty's Edge

Sorry about the delay, Xeno's updated for 5th level.

1. Why are you in Westcrown?
"Why wouldn't I stay in Westcrown? I'm sure there are tyrants and tormentors oppressing the defenceless everywhere, but the one here are mine. Sure one day I might have taught these ones the cost of actions and I'll have to move on. Seriously though I have unfinished business, very personal business."

2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government?
"Only two options, think outside the box. What have this or any government done for you? No bad question, what have they done for those without power. Government only serves those who have the power to bring it down, until the poorest and weakest of us have that power any government will do more harm than good." I'm sure if she ever succeeds at bringing down the government she'll learn quickly of her folly.

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?
"You are asking like I need you. Well alright maybe I could use a bit of help now and again. Are you asking can I work in a team? I guess there is only one way to tell. I know this city like few others, I know the view from both viewing room of the fifth floor of the Julistarc Manor and the sewer grate inside the dusk markets and might be able to get you to either place undiscovered if you trusted me. I know the secrets of blade and spells, I am able the strike and vanish before my target knows happened, or hold off several with an array of confusion while others flee and the those unfortunate enough to ignore my warnings can send them to the hell they came from."

4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?
Xeno is over confident of her skills and abilities and if not stopped taunt the authorities until she discovers the consequences. I see a few possible arcs of development: (I'm sure there are many more)
1)She has to deal with personal defeat and thus the destruction of her own image of herself and the subsequent rebuilding of herself.
2)The authorities deal with her by targeting the defenceless to get to her thus confirming her mission but showing her own limitations to make a difference.
3)Falling in love with one of the authority figures in town and the tug between her duty and her feelings.
Mechanically Xeno will continue as a Magus, but one that fills some of the rolls of a rogue. In a fight she will continue to be hard to take down rather than consistently high damage (occasional high damage is quite possible through spellstrike)

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt?

"What makes you think you can succeed where so many have failed? Xeno says slowly dancing back from knight delaying the start of violence for as long as possible to maximise the audience. "I am Xeno! Perhaps you didn't know that, so I will give you this one chance to stand down. But know if you refuse I will mark you with my kiss and I'll be able to find you anywhere, anytime and maybe I won't be in such a good mood then. " Xeno continues and while her face is not visible under her veil the tone is mocking and playful tone of someone enjoying themselves.

The knight swings heavily and Xeno dodges enough to turn it into a glancing blow. Xeno staggers obviously hurt but the voice is still unconcerned but now serious "Do not ever say you were not warned." she flicks her sword out and starts to trace out arcane symbols in the air as she says "The eyes do not see and the ears do not hear" and she vanishes.

"Sorry this is going to hurt, but maybe less than what your commander will do. Maybe it would best not to tell him, or on second thought maybe you should leave entirely, the Sunflower is due to leave port tonight you should be able to catch it. A quickly circling voice says, then "You will never forget this stranger's kiss" and air pops as the magic goes off and then there is quiet for a moment.

The silence and stillness is broken a couple seconds later as Xeno appears sword cutting an 'X' in the knight's cheek but before he react she vanishes again saying "Pray that you never see me again"

I feel like this AP is just as cursed as the play it holds, seriously I have a friend whose played it twice both times he got through the second book and it fell apart.

We're about a 1/6 through the third book.

Party fighter here. As for what I am looking for inthe next character I am fairly wide open to concepts at this point. Currently I am a tower shield fighter with some solid hp as well so I have the tank role well in hand. With a couple of buffs, enlarge namely, I can still dish out some good damage with my keen longsword. At my next 2 levels I was planning on going urban/trap ranger to pick up trapfinding and keep my bab maxed out. I mention this as those who want to play a rogue acan submit one without worrying about giving up the trapfinding ability.

I am thinking that we are going to need a face as the rat mentioned above just to keep the crazy witch from ruining everything. To date though the witch has been kept in check but Tal has develeoped a nervous tic.

All in all, good luck everyone and looking at seeing the submissions.

Trevor Culexis wrote:

Okay thanks. I'll think about it some more then, and if I come up with something worthy, I'll post here again. I played a cleric in my previous run, so there's little sense in applying with what would be a second cleric. Good luck!

Trevor Culexis wrote:

Slander sir! Base slander. I hold the Noble and military classes of Westcrown in the highest esteem. They are an excellent source of essential fatty acids and will easily support a good base of hardwood lending light, warmth, and comfort to get us all through these long dark winter nights.

Anti-noble indeed! Harrumph!

On topic I just want to point out the current party is weak vs. Mindless or mind immune, and incorporeal foes. The successful candidate will be able to ameliorate this weakness while supplying a wide variety of smoked meats and/or fresh organs.

Tal will never be the same again thanks to Cal/Krona. The memories will live on no matter what Tal does to suppress them.

Third time's the charm ;-)

I would like to submit Harold Wainright, a LN Human Bard(Archaeologist) for consideration :-)

(I submitted Raven last time, and Basil the time before that.)

1. Why are you in Westcrown?
Harold is in Westcrown, because he grew up there; despite being a bastard, foisted onto distant relatives, he had a fairly privileged and indolent upbringing, floating around the opera circles in Westcrown. Jaded with the ennui that afflicts much of the Westcrown's inhabitants, he engages in risk-taking / thrill-seeking to find the 'fire' of life, by doing such things as exploring the ruins beyond the walls, and walking the streets perilously close to nightfall.

2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government?
Raven is, quite frankly, fed-up with the indolent cancer that lurks at the heart of local government. Given the chance, he would like to see all of the crumbling political edifices swept away, and a new, invigorated government, which actually benefits the local populace, set-up in its place.

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?
With a history in the theatre, Harold is good on the stage, and is a natural when it comes to talking with people. Thanks to his rather eclectic upbringing, he knows a little bit about a lot, and can often be counted on to recall some obscure fact at just the right time. He also has some exprience with traps, has a few spells that can benefit the party (mostly healing and buffs) and knows how to swing a blade...

4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?
Harold is interested in exploring Delvehaven, to justify his 'position' in the Pathfinder Society.

Beyond that, he would love to see a shift in local politics; the city should be doing more to make the night safe for the common folk, rather than focusing on the profit margins of the ruling classes.

Mechanically, I intend to take six levels of bard, and then take Dragon Disciple :-)

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay down some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt?

"Sir, I am Harold, of the Westcrown Wainrights. Perhaps you have heard of our theatre chain? I would never dream of breaking a law. I did, however, see the thug responsible for this incident disappearing down that side street; if you hurry, I am sure that you could still catch him..."

I hope to get on Heroforge and play around tomorrow. I had to meet with financial planners and family trust people tonight and the next two nights after work, yea!

I am thinking an older roguish gritty type skilled skirmisher who has suffered at the hands of the cities denizens. A middle aged broken, but unbowed type who can investigate and read those he encounters.

Or . . .

Tark, I'm currently in a Council of Thieves game that's on hiatus with a tower shield fighter and married man at approximately the same place (tangling with the murder-nuns. I'm not sure if that puts us ahead or behind.). He has an eerie amount of similarities to Tal, reading up on the groups backstories. I feel like an uncouth criminal type fit into the current group, roleplay wise? I'm currently leaning halfling or half-orc. A foil to the more benevolent party members but at the same time more street smarts than the witch.

I haven't yet gotten to look at the Swashbuckler or Slayer, so at this moment I'm just considering Rogue. Build wise I'd like to be able to (safely) sneak attack via gang up or flanking and still have effective options when sneak isnt available (tanglefoot bags, or a half-orc with a whip). A sapmaster could work (although less useful against the mindless beasties that the witch can't target).

I'll hit the drawing board to find something that genuinely works, but I'm open to input.

Twigs wrote:

If I am reading the entrails correctly they are in our near future.

Twigs wrote:

Misfortune and Charm hexes, the witchy version of street-smarts.

Having some face skills can be helpful. Trevor has some diplomacy but isn't concentrated on it.

Grand Lodge

Hello, like some of your other applicants I also have experience playing in this AP in a tabletop where I have a level 6 halfling gunslinger (mysterious stranger)/rogue (acrobat) named Gotin Immel on his way toward shadow dancer who I think would fill the needs of your group admirably. He's a member of both the Bellflower Network and the Pathfinder Society and is a pretty decent social engineer.

1. Why are you in Westcrown?
the reasons for Gotin's presence in Westcrown are many, some more direct than others. The most relevant of these are: he hates slavery in all forms, and the institutional culture of slavery in Cheliax gets under his skin especially and would like very much to foment rebellion in that country. To that end, when his venture captain came to him looking for volunteers to go to Westcrown to investigate 100 year old mystery of what happened to Delvehaven, he jumped at the opportunity. Through PF contacts he's gained a cover identity as slave named Banana (pronounced bah-nah-nah, long story) in a tavern which is secretly a Bellflower "barn."

2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government?
Totally wants to take down and replace the government

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?
Gotin is a very capable, if very noisy, distance fighter. He's also a pretty decent sneak and can serve as the party face.

4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?
Gotin has a caustic yet playful personality that has won him allies and enemies alike. As he enjoys success and failure I expect him to slowly start retreating into one or another of these extremes, slow burning, smoldering rage at the establishment or discrete and friendly, empathetic would-be savior of a nation.
Mechanically, with all the shadowy goodness going on in town, I'd like to see him traveling down the road of Shadow Dancer in the relatively near future.

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt?
As Banana: Oh sir, of course you have every right to pummel poor Banana as you like, even if it just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, just minding the mistress's business and not being involved at all in this horrible, HORRIBLE travesty. Please though, before you do let me just put this barrel of our expensive, signature black lager someplace safe so Banana won't be beaten a second time by mistress, who's always been a friend to the Order of Rack, later if it's broken.

Why are you in Westcrown?
This is the place Allister Wymer Reed's journey has drifted him to. The withering trail had gone cold in the ruined twists in the northern part of the city known as the Dusk Market, a wandering bazaar from which all manner of illegal goods and services can be purchased: drugs, slaves, poisons, strange creatures, prostitutes . . . children. With no where else to look or turn, Allister inhabits the lesser and seedier locals in the wretched hive of villainy.

2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or form a new government?

Mr Reed would do nearly anything if it would lead him to those for whom he was searching for. If he could do something, actually form something he would make change, make them pay, all of them.

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?

A lot of utility, a face man when needed and good with both the long and short blades that hung of on his belt.

I would offer consistent posting.

4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?

I often form a vision and concept in my head. The story and events the character encounters shapes whom he becomes and what paths ,, he travels down.

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt?

Nothing . . . Until the time is right. Then his pent up rage and hurt are released. The armored knights world bursts into light and pain. The armorer hulk stains down stupidly at the stiletto protruding from the top of his foot, right before the second one took him just under the chin and up into the brain. Realization and understanding set in, long before his rigor stiffened body was left naked in a heap behind the Scarlet Knuckle.

Been up for a few days, let me know what you think.

1. Why are you in Westcrown?
"Yew think I'm 'ere by choice, bigg'un? Yew boxed out've your mind?" the halfling snorts. He stares at you incredulously for a moment before returning to shaving his whiskers with a razor-sharp sickle. He scrapes the hairs from his large, bulbous nose and seems surprised to see that you're still pestering him. "Westcrown's just where I manage to give yer friends in the Chelish navy the slip, tha's all..." The halfling sets his blade down and reaches under his sweat-stained collar, absent mindedly running his fingers across the scars on his back. "Wot're yew lookin' at? Yew want my life story or summtin'? Get out of my face, human."

2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government?
"All the blooming same, you tall folk..." the halfling says, splashing his face with cold-water and spitting at your feet. "Don't matter which arse is polishing the throne, see? Only matters who's behind 'em lining their purse." he grins knowingly, revealing a mouth of gold teeth still dripping wet. He grabs your cloak with his grubby hands, mopping his face dry before pulling you in close with surprising strength, voice lowering to a whisper. "The thrice damned Council. That's who needs to be trod into the dirt. Ain't nothin' left for us honest, freelancers. That's the way of it..."

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?

Grubby should be able to serve as a forward scout and also has a smattering of social skills (albiet a low charisma score). In combat, with a buff or two spared for him, he should hopefully have enough damage to reliably eliminate targets. He's very manueverable with the bandit archetype and his quickrunner's shirt, but I've also made sure he has a number of options when he can't flank. While intimidate is out for a small sized character, he has a passable ability to trip and disarm (especially against debuffed or flatfooted foes), a reach weapon and tanglefoot bags at his disposal. He has a number of bonuses against foes of large size or larger, i.e. those that are riskier to flank.

4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?

From a roleplay perspective I don't see Grubby having an enormous character arc. I'm hoping his larger than life personality will breathe some new life into your game, so I didn't want to roll with anything too mild-mannered. His time with the party will probably soften some of his harder edges, and greed and ambition will probably drive him to the campaigns completion.

Mechanically I mean to jump into the Halfling Opportunist Prestige Class, pick up Combat Reflexes at 7th, a thematic ability, some save boosts and Sneak Attack to my AoO's. He's sorely missing the Offensive Defense talent at present, but with so few feats to work with I opted to ditch it. Further delaying my sneak attack to pick it up doesn't seem like the best idea, but I can always grab my 6th rogue level somewhere down the track if my AC is lagging.

Some Questions for Tark:
#1: The Halfling Opportunist? I thought I should double check with you regarding the halfling opportunist prestige class. That first (key) ability is particularly clunky looking in practice and might be harder to adjudicate. You'll have to trust in both my good sense and the fact that I'll probably only use it sparingly. Are you okay with it? I'm a little hesitant to give up advanced talents, but that capstone ability will go a long way.

#2: Child of Shadows campaign trait Would this trait also allow a rogue to sneak attack in darkness, or would I have to find room for the shadow strike feat for that?

#3: Fractional BAB/Saves: Would you allow me to take fractional BAB to avoid that little speedbump the level 5 entry gives me by using fractional BAB? I want to keep my hit chance as high as possible, for both my sneak attacks and manuevers. Cheers!

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt?
"'ad you pegged fer a Thrunie from the start, I did." the halfling says, sweeping from his stool and fastening his cloak. "Well then, I've got one question for you, bub. 'ow fast can you run in that nice armour?"
Grubby takes an immediate withdraw action. A rogue doesn't get to level 5 getting lippy with Hellknights. No sir.

Last day I'll be looking at submissions is today. Tommorrow I announce the choice.

And the choice has been made! Harold Wainright is the next victim!

BUT!

My other CoT game lost a person recently as well.

SO!

This group consists of a ranger, a barbarian, an inquisitor and a cleric. So if you'd like to resubmit your application or stick with an old one let me know. Same stuff applies. The game thread is here

Liberty's Edge

I'm happy to stick with Xeno. A magus would compliment the group well. Let me know if there is anything you'd like changed.

I could submit Grubby again, or alternatively if the group are willing to roll with one, I've an Asmodean bad touch cleric/diabolist that I've been cooking up on the side. A heavy save-or-lose and summoning focused negative energy cleric. It'd be a balancing act to write him up in a way that doesnt conflict with the party's goals, but playing a diabolist just really fascinates me.

Let me know if you think the group would be down for it :)

I am happy to offer my rogue type idea.

bump. Just put this up for the other group to see.

Dark Archive

Twigs here. I'm struggling on a name but my bio is on it's way. I'm about to go under the knife tomorrow for some minor lung surgery so it might be a few days coming. Essentially I want to play the embodiment of Lawful Evil: a lawyer. Lots of compulsion flavored spells and save debuffs, speaking with the voice of the Prince of Darkness (his word, after all, is law).

I'll be opting for the Diabolist PrC (once I figure out how to meet those skill requirements) for a big boost to his summoning ability. I'll be moving around the melee cursing and commanding our heavy hitting foes, but wont bring much in the damage department and my squishiness will probably consign me to full casting at later levels. I can also prepare what support spells the party cleric doesnt. The name and avatar are probably up in the air for now while I make the final tweaks to his personality. I'll type up that questionnaire as soon as I'm able.

Cheers for the opportunity to pick up where my last game left off! Hopefully this time I've found the right character.

Also if anybody has any suggestions for improving my build, throw them my way. My current plan is to grab Augment Summoning and Superior Summons at level 8 and have my imp crank his UMD to the nines. I should be able to fill the space of an arcane caster in this party, with my heavy enchantment and summoning focus and access to scrolls and wands. My only concern is my low hit chance with my domain strikes.
