Is there available a map showing the political relations of the various accords, treaties, alliances, NAPs and other political arraignments as of now?
I had in my files previously a map that showed the Roseblood Accord and EOX settlements highlighted in different colors, but I can no longer find it.
Any help welcomed.

Giorgo,
Here is the link to Harad Navar's latest and Final Unofficial Land Rush Map. I have not seen a version that included the latest alliance, treaties, coalitions and agreements, but maintaining such has been mentioned, and is probably underway from more than one source.

This shows the alignment and affiliation of all the settlements who have either listed. I'd like to add the GWK is just a speculative kingdom at this point, but that shows all settlements who received and invitation. It also doesn't include the Aeonian League.

Feel free to make a political map If you can. Currently I have to use Harad's Map, the Goblinworks land rush pages, Labled Map, the Paizo forum threads, and a notebook to keep track of the alignments and political status, surely there must be a better way? :)
@Hardin
The link you provided is the map I am currently using, its an outstanding map and a great resource. If I could add a "political layer" or edited it to show a "political map" that would be AWESOME! (but I lack the knowledge on how to edit that map)
@Andius
Thank you for sharing, had not seen that one before. Question, isn't Aragon, Callambea, and Golgotha also part of the NC?
(I see Freevale, Mystical Awakening and Bernstein listed)
Also, would you consider adding the EOX settlements to your map, perhaps with a "*" inside the inner circle?
@Harad
Could you please reconsider adding BACK the alignments to your excellent map? Alignments are very much present in the meta game right now, and is a consideration in ongoing diplomacy and various types of negotiations. Currently, I have all the stated alignments of settlements on a hand drawn map to keep visual track of that information, by adding the two letter alignment to the settlements name, I would prefer to see it on your map as it is easier to see the "Big Alignment Picture" that way. (For example: Forgeholm [LN])
@KarlBob
Agreed, but we need to start somewhere with regards to diplomatic activity right now, as the early pre-game is just as important for many people, and a Political Map would be a useful tool for many people I am sure.
Thanks everyone for their input so far!

Found a Faction Map, it is currently out of date, but will make a good reference after it gets updated. :)

As you say, a bit out of date.... This map is "cleaner" than the others and so is better for a political map.
I would also suggest that every settlement has two rings of hexes (where possible) to include their Alpha Six and their Influence Hexes.
Influence Hexes that are shared would be potentially '" Contested Hexes".
The Names of the Settlements being color coded is the easiest way to show primary affiliation (Nation); a ( ) next to name would represent core settlement alignment; a secondary affiliation can be placed in [ ] , such as an alliance. Example:
Aragon (CN) = color coded for nation if necessary
[Northern Coalition]

@Bluddwolf,
I second your suggestions for a "clean" political map as you describe above.
Using your format, my settlement would be:
Forgeholm (LN)[Independent]?
Just to check, the only "nation" as of now is:
The Empire of Xeilias (Golgotha, Callambea, Kreuz Bernstein, Mystical Awakening)
Correct?
Yes, that is how it would look, although I would list the [Independent] below the top line:
Forgeholm (LN)
[Independent]
This way it fits in the hex better. If nation names are longer, then they use abbreviations and a map key would clarify labels.

Quick Stab at it: Political Map
Names are color coded to match and I used an old version of the map that didn't have the towers on it to make it a bit clearer. I'll think about coming up with a better way to show overlaps but it should work for now.

That is exactly the kind of map we need, with Bluddwolf's suggestions if you can for next version? :)
As a member of Forgeholm, this is the first I hear of the Free Highlanders, and I haven't seen it mentioned in the last few pages of forum posting or in any diplomatic activities. Do you have a reference link?

Yea, it'll take a bit of time to get all the layering and text right for that many names, I'll start adding them as I go. Also debating seeing if I can turn it into a nice CSS thing that will allow you to swap layers on and off or something. Will have to find out from the League if the hosting will allow that.
I can't find the thread but I have the text of the announcement, let me contact some peeps to find out what they know about it.

Nations are not in the game yet. Alliances with intent to be nations is all there is.

I think that is a debatable point. The mechanic for nations don't exist yet, but neither do settlements themselves.
There does exist an announced intent to form a nation, with the out of game support structures being built.
I don't mind people calling themselves a nation and announcing the intent to be one, refer to yourself however you think is best. But if we are making a political map for community use I'd think it irresponsible to denote something as a nation when that term refers specifically to an in game mechanic that is months away.
Settlements have actually been given out and will have known mechanics on day 1, not the same.
-Aet- Charlie Goblin Squad Member |
Proto settlements will have mechanics on day one, not settlements themselves. That happens post Catastrophe.
I can see your point, and I would even openly agree if this was a wiki detailing game mechanics. Instead it is a map denoting power blocks.
The Northern Coalition for example is very different from EoX. There is a huge gap in expectation and cooperation.
I am not vehemently against it being removed, I do see validity in its inclusion.

I'm leaning towards leave it in for now as it does somewhat denote an important difference in the relationships between each 'potential nation' member compared to the generally more public alliances. I'll also throw a key in that notes there is a distinction.
I'm mostly recreating the same map with better layer organization so I can quickly turn layers on and off to get the desired effects plus names and a key to explain some stuff.
Duffy Goblin Squad Member |
I updated the page to a map that has all the same basics of the previous version, with the addition of a settlement's home hex representing their Nation's color. The eggshell color indicates no nation.
Working on the individual name and alignment tags for each settlement and a key explaining some of it. Will probably finish it tonight but I wanted to at least get the most corrected guy up in case I don't.
If anyone has any other idea that could go on something like this let me know and I'll take them under consideration.

Alrighty, version with Names, Alignments, and a short key explanation: Better Political Map
I heavily layered it so I should be able to update and move stuff around without too much hassle. If anyone spots a mistake or some of the info needs to change drop me a PM here or throw a comment in this thread.
I may try to add some interactivity that can turn the various layers on and off, I need to look into what our hosting allows.

Very Very Nice! I, personally, hope to see one more power block added to the map before EE begins. Like maybe the NW area or even the whole Western side of the map. :-)
Cloak and Dagger meetings in smoked filled must be happening even as we speak.
Well there is the Great Western Kingdoms, not sure what kind of affiliation it is or may become.
<kabal> Bunibuni Goblin Squad Member |
It doesn't actually exist. It was a name I came up with to get everyone to show up to our Meet and Greet. I HOPE the leaders of the various settlements there will form some kind of alliance. But we will see. I think we are still at the "Let's cooperate for training but we aren't sure yet what we want to train" stage.
The Great Western Kingdoms.
The Great Western Alliance.
The Five [or Six or Seven or ...] Kingdoms.
The Alliance of Light.
The Cooperative.
The United Federation of Kingdoms.
The United Federation of Light.
The Crossroads Alliance.
The United River Kingdoms.
If we can form some kind of alliance, as you see, there are lots of cool names we could call ourselves. :-)

I like "The Northwest Cooperative", because it references Cal's monster hunting initiative. When were naming the Aeonian League, we almost used "Federation of Independent of Settlements." It would be nice to have a "Federation" to go with the southeastern "Alliance."

Cooperative would be okay for some agreements, but I don't think it would make a good name for a nation.
I'd rather avoid anything that has a compass reference, and instead use a lore or landmark reference.
We have Highlands highlands, forest, and a cliff that overlooks the marshes and water. Maybe something like "Rockwall" "Lands End" "Moss View" "Stars Fall" "Moss Wall" "Mosswall Federation"
In ancient history, the area was an Elven hunting preserve called Telvurian, so we could riff on that. "Rock Hunt" "Huntsview"
Coal often associates with a long burn, so maybe "Smokewall" "Burning Wall"
Or, I suppose everyone could just acknowledge the key group in the area and decide to call the nation "Elkhaven"...

Wow! We could even shell out some cash to get a special Memorial of Honor placed there. Have to work with GW to get our leaders' names and the settlements listed on it. With something like, "On this date [fill it in] the Crossroads' [fill it in] was formed when [leaders' names] of [settlements' names] forsworn animosity towards each other and instead declared themselves Brothers for Now and All Times by signing on this location, the Crossroads [fill in the blank]!
I think that would be pretty cool to have in-game. ;-)
OR we could have each settlement purchase one and place them on the hexes leading up to the crossroads
