Here it the blog post Tanis hinted at the other day. Looks exciting.

I'm in, no question. Exciting news!

Grand Lodge

I'm glad on two points, for PFS pre-gens and for PACG. It is always nice to be able to provide figs for people when they use the pre-gened characters in PFS scenarios. And obviously, for use in PACG.

At least they're not the same ones from the collectibles.

great news. Wish there was a subscription to them. hint hint

Absolutely killer news!

Any word on how many boons will be in each box?

Those look really cool. A shame it could take a while to collect the specific iconics you may need for your party - one box release a month means you could be waiting some time.

I guess there will be no minis for the class decks. Wu Shen is SO gonna be in most of my parties from now on :)

Well, if you take what was said to be literal English:

"Each set comes complete with six figures—five iconic Pathfinder heroes and one associated creature, be it an animal companion, eidolon, or familiar. Each box also includes a unique Pathfinder Adventure Card Game card associated with each figure in the box—special boon cards unavailable anywhere else."

It looks like there should be six figures and six cards in each set. That would be nice. Totally worth the $30 price tag in my book. Some card game fans would probably consider paying that for six promo cards alone.

To be clear, PFACG subscribes will not get these promo cards? They are available only if you buy the miniatures?

Doesn't look as such given the "unavailable anywhere else" stipulation. Its a pretty cool little add-on, pulling the trigger on mini's probably wouldn't have been in my plans, but given that there are going to be boons associated with them... that gets my attention, which is obviously the idea.

Sovereign Court

I've been telling myself to buy the Reaper Bones for a while but keep not doing it. I had the same thought on these -- until I read they had promo cards not obtainable anywhere else... Now I will be preordering every one

Yep, I'm gonna need to buy every one of these. Damn you Paizo! :-D

EVERY MONTH .... WOW!!!

That means there are (5+1)*12=72 miniatures a YEAR !

But there are only 31 iconics so far ... that may be means, 6 packs of each 5+1 miniatures... so after 6 months (until GenCon2015) all iconics released.

What about the class decks non-iconics characters ?

... But I already bought all available Iconics from PFB... Damn!
Anybody interested ?

Yep—six brand-new cards in each box, and this will be the only way to get them.

The current plan is for 7 sets that will cover all 31 iconics from the Core Rulebook, Advanced Player's Guide, Ultimate Magic, Ultimate Combat, and the Advanced Class Guide, plus notable animal companion/familiar/eidolon.

Thanks Vic. Question: The way I read this is the cards are part of the product and not a "promo", so to speak, for ordering it when it comes out. So even if someone didn't get it right away, whenever they did buy it the would still have the cards in the box with the figures. Do I have that correct?

(That of course depends on them being in stock in the future.)

Sovereign Court

Six cards per box? That's even better, it read to me like one card per box. Awesome! I assume the cards will also be non-random, and each box will have it's own 6?

The Exchange

Eagerly awaiting information on a subscription for this, I am frequently too lazy to remember to add things to my sidecart.

Vic, any chance of the PFACG discount on these? Advantage discount is great, but another 5% would sweeten the deal.

If not, will they officially be part of the Battles line, or will they be their own sort of thing?

That's correct. We have cool ideas for these cards; I hope you like them.

I'm taking bets on how many boxes will be released before there is a Hawkmoon ally.

They are part of the Pathfinder Battles line, but they will not automatically be part of any subscription. I think we'll be able to give Battles subscribers *and* Card Game subscribers their usual discounts on them, but we'll need to test that.

Is there going to be a way to set it up so that any of the Battles line that includes Card Game related items could be subscribed to? I personally want to make sure that I don't miss out on the unique cards.

Sounds good. I humbly request web-ninja coding that will let me add like 6 months of products to my sidecart via preorder from the product announcement page then, that would let me not be lazy once, and then spend all my time gaming instead of remembering to add them for the next five months.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Well, if all the products were listed on the website, you could do that—basically, anything in your sidecart that's not available at sub shipping time just stays in your sidecart till the next go-round.

I'm not sure when all of these will be listed, though.

Was musing about this last night. 7 sets at 6 characters each =42 minis. One mini in each set is an "associated creature". That leaves 35. There are currently only 31 iconics.

Let the speculation begin!

For those interested, Jirelle and Oloch are now available for order as Reaper Metal miniatures. I believe these are pre-orders, but it isn't classified as such. No images are available at this time

Oloch

Jirelle

They have added a couple other iconics, but none of which are featured in PACG thus far...

Crowe

Enora

Quinn

Vic, thanks so much (or thank whoever did the negotiation) for negotiating this with Wizkids! Paizo's so good at listening to feedback and then actually acting on it.

Scarab Sages

Well, guess the miniatures aren't real optional if you're a card-completionist. Not real enthused about this one, to be quite honest. Looking at the class deck card lists also has me somewhat bummed, as there are very few unique boons in those, too. Meh.

I went ahead and ordered Jirelle and Oloch, sight unseen. Just five minutes ago I get an email telling me that they will ship by this Friday! Dare I hope that I will have them to paint up and play with S & S?

At the PACG panel at GenCon, I asked if there were any plans to put out minis for the class deck characters after the first 7 sets. They didn't have a decision on that yet, but they said that there's actually going to be 9 initial sets but they couldn't say yet what was in the last 2.

I think at that point in the con Occult Adventures hadn't been announced yet, so that would be 6 more iconics. Not sure what else there would be. Let the speculation resume!

I hope Occult Adventures iconics get into a single box, as I'm completely uninterested in them, but I want all 31 "normal" iconics.

I think I've been saying the wrong number. There are definitely 6 sets of 6 that cover the 31 iconics plus 5 key animal companion/eidolon/familars. If they do well, I bet we can get a 7th set that covers the Occult Adventure iconics.

I don't want any of the pawns, but I do want the cards, so I expect I'll dump the value-less (for me) figurines on eBay...or simply see if I can purchase the cards themselves from someone who wants the mini-figures but doesn't want the cards.

I'm in the same boat. Nothing against the pawns, they're just not a $30/6 value-add for me.

However, if someone is willing to part with their cards and wants to make a few bucks, I'd also gladly buy them.

The Exchange

I would personally consider $5.00 for a good quality PPM a steal... having painted hundreds of minis over the years but no longer having time to devote to that aspect of the hobby I am giddy for the opportunity to throw money at Paizo for these.

Maybe use them for Christmas tree ornaments if you don't see yourself playing with them?

Scarab Sages

NOG the Demoralizer wrote:

No, I plan on dumping them on the market, thereby reducing overall demand for the product - hopefully, in some small way, leading to an unbundling of card-value from miniature-value in future products.

I'm not questioning the value of the minis as 'minis that come with PACG cards'; $5 is a decent price. I'm saying that I'm not willing to pay that for 'PACG cards that come with minis'.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I'm all about both the minis and the cards... I don't know if I'd use the minis for my PACG play... more likely I'd use them when GMing to allow for players to use them with pregens in PFS games. But the cards are definitely the more exciting of the two for me... I'm a total completionist, and anywhere that I can get more cards makes me immensely happy.

I play RPGs (D&D, however, not Pathfinder typically) and the card game, so this is a super value for me. Even if I didn't play both, I would consider it a good value, as we use minis for our characters rather than tokens, both to help with immersion and most importantly to conserve table space. I would buy these without the cards, so for me the cards are a bonus.

I am not saying that I do not understand the pain of those who just don't want the minis. I would feel the same way if each adventure path book came with a card or two. Well, that might be slightly worse in that there is no real crossover for the AP book to the card game, while the minis do have some crossover use and have actually been in demand by a number of people who only play the card game.

Let's instead suppose that each play mat came with two cards specific to that particular character. I don't buy the play mats, but they are relevant to the card game. I am not sure I would want to be pushed in that direction, but I would consider buying the mats just to get the cards.

The point being, that while the minis and cards combo is particularly suited to me, and probably a decent value for many, I can understand that it isn't for everyone. While it does set a precedent I am not sure I like, it certainly is a good business decision by Paizo.

Here is a question for those of you who don't want the minis. What would you be willing to pay for the cards if Paizo were to offer just the cards for purchase as a full set of 30 cards (or however many there will be) after the full series of minis has shipped, either through the Paizo store or more likely through a print on demand arrangement like the errata cards?

Grand Lodge

(I bought the mats for my own personal use.)

My problem with the metal miniatures is that I'd prefer to spend the time to paint them for RPG use. I don't want to store my minis in with my card game stuff. I do have a couple carrying cases for minis that I use. That's why the plastic pre-painted minis are so interesting to me. I'll still pack them away but there will be a lot less bumping around with painted minis this way (if I use the pre-painted ones). Even so with the Bones minis which I've started to use as well (with RPG).

In the meantime, I've created the pawns in Hawkmoon's accessories. I pulled them out at GenCon and both Vic and Tanis were impressed with them. I even started using them with my group at the local store (last night). We started using them instead of the token cards. Easier to put the pawns on the location cards. :-) (Thanks Hawkmoon again!)

I'd pay $10 for 30 cards...as long as they are 30 unique cards, not "30 cards with only 25% of them being unique" like the class decks.
