Map packs question / suggestion

This was brought up in the chatroom while the page was down today, so I thought I would voice it. I know some people don't like the map packs because there's nothing new or they aren't 1" squares, and this wouldn't change that, but it would help save the maps and othe things from getting damaged...

would it be possible to make the 'cover' of the map packs be a folder? this way they wouldn't seem as loose, and the DM could keep maps/handouts thegether without damages, separating them by AP..

Sigh. I've wanted the cover to be a sort of pocket for ages, but we haven't figured out how to make it happen yet.

But what do you mean the map packs don't have anything new and aren't 1" squares? Every map pack is ALL new, and always has 1" squares!

I ment those who complain that they are all reprinted maps and nothing new (such as ones for the goblin battle(s) in RotRL #1) and not battle map scale.

Oh! You're talking about the Pathfinder Chronicles Map Folios! I was thinking you were talking about the GameMastery Map Packs, and wasn't paying attention to which forum I was in. So you just mean you want trapper-like pockets in the cover, or maybe the cover as a sleeve? I don't know if we ever asked about that...

Yeah, something so if it's standing on the end of the bookcase, prevents them from spilling all over the floor and getting stepped on when someone walks by ( or when you pull out the book next to them.

While we're making suggestions, is there any way to throw the Map Packs into AP subscriptions so I don't have to keep canceling my Chronicles subscription every six months or so?

Silver Crusade

I have two suggestions about Map Packs (though they also apply to flip-mats):

  • Tie-in the map products better with the modules and APs. It's nice when I see something like the bandit's camp for Oleg's trading Post in Kingmaker, but I'd like to know ahead of time which packs I'll need. A simple text box somewhere showing which maps appear would be very helpful, either on the back of the book, or maybe on the website listing. Buy the time my subscription arrives in my mailbox, it's too late to order the appropriate map. Also, indicating on the individual map listings on the website showing in which product each map appears would also be nice, as would a master list showing all Paizo products and how they tie into each other, including background books (like Darklands and the second AP, for instance, or the Devil's book and CoT). I know it's obvious to you, but it would make it much easier for someone coming in cold.

  • Also, why don't you offer Map Pack Packs? I understand if your margins are just too tight, or you don't want to devalue them with deep discounts, but even just the convenience of buying a bunch at once would be nice.
