Headband of Epic Intelligence - misprint?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

In deck 5, the Headband of Epic Intelligence states, "Reveal this card to add 2 to an Intelligence check."

...AN Intelligence check. Does this mean that the Headband adds to *any* character's Intelligence check anywhere in the game world? If so, this item just became OMGAwesome, otherwise, I'm thinking it's meant to read, "...your Intelligence check."

All the other +Stat items, by the way, state "your [stat] check", this one is the lone exception (as far as I can tell, anyway). Haven't seen any other mention of this card yet, for what it's worth.

Sovereign Court

All the +1 items are of course weaker than this, which is why come earlier and only help yourself. This one is just a better card. Belt of Physical Might helps on 3 different skills, helping others with the ability to play another item really is broken.

This one is just the midpoint between the two. It's later than the +1s, so it's better. It helps more people than the later bonus items, but the later ones help on more checks. Better isn't broken, it's just better.

Obviously only the designers can tell you for sure whether that is a mistake or not, but compare it with the Magic Spyglass upgrade over Spyglass.

That also has the change from "your" to "a". I just chalked that up to later cards being more powerful, same with the Headband of Epic Intelligence.

Intelligence checks don't come up a whole lot, except for Ezren. Not too many locations from what I recall. If it had been Wisdom, with all the monster needing "before the encounter" Wisdom checks, now that would be crazy. But with Intelligence, I don't think its broken. That way Ezren can help others acquire spells they encounter so he doesn't miss out on them.

And something else I completely overlooked. Sigh. Oh well, at least it is a very rare thing. The Magic Spyglass never stayed in a hand long enough for it to matter.

Our group personally never seems to find a reason to *roll* a Perception check... in fact, I don't think we've *ever* rolled a Perception check (Harsk and Meri are the only ones who even *have* Perception as a skill).

Another item I noted that has the "an Intelligence check" print is Ordikon's Staff. If true though, it's certainly strange, but definitely helps everybody out. We'll continue adjudicating it that way.
