Archer build ideas for Gestalt campaign needed.

Advice

All published Pathfinder material ok for what I hope to be a mobile artillery platform. We start from 1st level and will go to about 10th or so. I'll have two other players who have asked me to be the archer- their choices are not quite made so let's focus on having this guy focus on his role.

20 point buy. Any (reasonable) races. Two traits. I don't have to stick with a class, i.e. I can dip. Prestige Class would need DM approval, yet we stop at level 10ish so maybe(?) that doesn't work so well anyway.

I don't necessarily need a detailed list of feat choices, but feel free to offer if your build ideas center around a an important set. A brief explanation as to why your build is effective would be appreciated, but don't let that stop you. For example:

Zen Archer 10/ Inquisitor 10 for the shared Wisdom stat, crazy good saves and pretty good skills with built in feats galore for Zen and banes and judgements from Inquisitor with some decent spells on the side. Human for skills or Assimar with Dex and Wis bonus for dark vision. (I bet you can do better!)

Hrmm... Nope, I can't suggest much better than a Zen Archer Monk/Inquisitor gestalt if your goal is an awesome archer.

Zen Archer / Inquisitor is solid. At level 1-10 I can't think of a better gestalt Archer combo.

You might drop Zen Archer at some point; its benefits are pretty frontloaded. Maybe Zen Archer 6 / Horizon Walker 4 // Inquisitor 10.

For something else a sohei/urban barbarian might be good. Or a small sohei/hunter if ACG is allowed.

The first uses the rage to increase to hit or (via adaptive bow) to damage as needed when raging. The second one can ride his AC into battle when the terrain allows for that, gets to share teamwork feats with his pet and has some other nice stuff.

Edit: Forgot the alignment restriction on the first one. But Aasimar would work.

You could also do Sohei / Empyreal Sorceror.

Double-stack your traits (magical lineage and wayang spellhunter) and take quicken spell to make True Strike quicken at level 3...

Dex and Wis to AC, with weapon training in bows will give you flurry like a Zen Archer with almost the same damage, but you get a +5 to initiative and always act in the surprise round.

Take Stunning Fist as an actual feat, then you can quicken true strike + stunning fist anything which gets near you (stealth, invis, etc), and otherwise use it on your last iterative to maximize your shot economy.

Other useful spells include create pit (between you and them), grease (between you and them), wall of fire (between you and them) all of which can be set up during the surprise round where you automatically get an action.

Their combo is better numerically, I personally find this more fun...like one might find an Aasimar Zen Archer Monk/(Urban or Invulnerable Rager) Barbarian more fun. (Take the feat that allows Aasimar to progress Monk while NG)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In fact there are a lot of good options (maybe not optimised but still more than viable).
- Weapon master fighter/archaeologist bard (with fate's favoured)
- Paladin/Wood oracle

Ninja'd...however, you need an Aasimar Racial feat in order to progress monk while nonlawful--which barbarian requires. I forget if Urban removes it, but just take that one feat and you can multiclass with Invulnerable Rager to get a monk with DR.

Fun, and unexpected.

Fighter/Alchemist. Explosive Missle with a Conductive bow.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Halfling ninja//paladin. Mounted ranged smite sneak attacks.

Thanks for the ideas all. I have a few weeks to decide so I'll mull these suggestions over.

I've been playing casters for so long that the Reactionary trait has become a given. With this build I'm open to suggestions- I get one only but it can be from any Pathfinder source.

Ranger/Divine Hunter

Fighter 4/Sorcerer 6/Arcane Archer 10

Myrmydarch Magus/Ranger

Fighter 8/Divine Hunter Pal 2/Sniper Rogue 10

Shadow Lodge

Grenadier alchemist is amazing
Mix with any one of magus (Myrmidarch), ranger (trapper, archer path) or fighter (archer)
Dip one level of any casting class if you go fighter or ranger and take arcane archer,
Remember your extracts are "alchemical items" so you'll be adding a combination of trap spell, poison, extract and bomb on your arrows
Not to mention unless you go for the casting inherit in magus, you'll have loads of feats and a nearly full BAB

So alchemist 10/ ranger or fighter 7/wizard (evoker) 1/ arcane archer 2
Or alchemist 10/magus 10
Can I get in on this game?

Shadow Lodge

not familiar with divine hunter but the second build isn't via able

You don't qualify for arcane archer at level 1
At best you'd go fighter 7/arcane archer 3/sorcerer 7/ divine hunter or sniper 3

would be the way to go

Silver Crusade

I'd keep it nice and simple. Weapon master fighter 10/inquisitor 10. Gloves of Dueling + Bane Baldric = buttloads of dead enemies.

i'd say either ranger+zen archer or inquisitor+zen archer. lots of wis-synergy, and you're stupid good at taking out your targets.
