Vitalist

Advice

So I have a question guys and Gals.
In my friends new party he has a player who is taking on a Vitalist with the Archtypes of Life leech and Sadist. and won't divulge into the character much further than that.
This would allow him to persuade people to let him have a feild of psychic communication with them and heal them psychicly, and upon their deaths would grant him strength, but at level 3, he gains the ability to force them to join.

We do not know his alignment or skills. What oes this read to you guys?

PK set up or not?

At second level he can force people into his Collective. so that means he could walk into a bar and Kill everyone.

If I'm hearing you right, he won't let anyone at the table see his character sheet to try and understand his abilities? Big red flag right there.

Go read up on the vitalist at d20pfsrd.com.

i am currently. We are looking into how to, uh what's the word, kill the Character. That reads PK to know end.

We just aren't sure how to approach this. How ca nwe go about killing the character without just saying, Dm say's you are dead? Cause looking at it, come 5th level if he makes it that far, is party is nothing more than Fodder.

You just might be a bit paranoid.

Okay, the first thing to ask is this: Have you talked with him about it outside the game?

As a normal Vitalist, then.

Sadist archetype does this, seems legit.

Unwilling Participant, gained at level 2, does this. Seems legit.

Well... Has he actually done anything wrong up to now (well, except being fussy about his character sheet)?

If he's actually bothering you that much, it might be simpler not to invite him to the next session. That said, most of his abilities rely on the target failing a Will save. Also, everybody is pretty much screwed if someone cuts his throat during sleep.

Said player is looking for a "power play" over other people's characters at the gaming table. "Join me, do what I say, or I kill you." Generally not a good idea.

"Persuade" the player to play nicely, even re-write his character, or ask him to leave. If he doesn't, you will, and others will. A player doesn't get to make a psionic vampire character and Dominate the rest of the gaming table "just because they can". This is Pathfinder, not Vampire the Masquerade, where one-upmanship is worse than Magic: The Gathering ever was.

Well the setup seems fine, but it is a bit strange for him not to be willing to let others see his character sheet or really know what his powers are. Something to remember is if/when he starts trying to drain health from the party, if you're unwilling you do get a will save for half damage

If you're really looking to try and kill the guy, remember he can only heal so much by damaging you. If the party is working together to kill him, they shouldn't have too much of a problem.

Honestly, Sadist Lifeleech Soulthief Vitalist as evil as it sounds is a pretty fantastic ally to have around. Him not showing the sheet is really weird though and he's either misunderstanding or exaggerating Sadist's benefit for someone in the collective dying. You get some temporary hitpoints... that you have to use in a few rounds or you lose them. Honestly, the big win from Sadist is that you no longer take a *penalty* for a collective member dying. Him not showing you the sheet is weird, but honestly Vitalist PK power is less then stellar. Furthermore, Collective is only a medium range ability until 15th level, and his build will lack the ability to steal life from a collective member until level 3 and even then its just a standard action 2xVitalist level + Wis mod with a Will save for half. Hardly terrifying, since again it's at medium range. If he tries it on you just knife his PC in the kidneys.
