Typically I buy PDFs as I need them or desire to read them. With the massive discount offered here right now though, I'm tempted to stock up on a few for the future. That being said, I have little idea what I'll be playing in the future, or what I'll need. Of the sale items, what do you think the most useful books for PFS legal rules are? The sale PDFs cover mostly campaign setting and player companion books, but a full listing can be found here- http://paizo.com/store/sale/paizoPDFSale

It might help if you listed what you already have, since some of the suggestions are going to be generic,, like the ISWG, the PFSG, PFS Primer, etc.
I have the following books that are in the sale: Qadira- Gateway to the East, Humans of Golarion, Dragon Empires Primer, and Blood of Fiends.
I know ISWG is a fantastic resource, but it seems less pressing since it's not currently on sale. Likewise, the PFS field guide while useful, is one of the few things that doesn't require ownership. I don't really mind generic responses. I just want to know what people find useful in PFS. For instance, I think I'd probably use Blood of Fiends any time I'd make a tiefling. The heritages open up a ton of options for any tiefling player and is therefore a good book to have (although it will become less so in the coming months as tieflings disappear). If I had never played a Tiefling I wouldn't really know that though. On the other hand, Kobolds of Golarion is a good example of a bad choice. It may be great for home games, and filled with good fluff, but none of it is legal for PFS.

I'd call Seeker of Secrets and Adventurer's Armory must haves. They're the only sources for spring loaded wrist sheathes and ioun stone resonant powers.
I'm a huge fan of Inner Sea Magic. Tattooed Sorcerer, Dawnflower Dervish bard, and some nifty spells like Pugwumpi's Grace, among other things.
Obviously, the Animal Archive is good if you ever want to play a PC with pets.
If you're ever planning to do a halfling, get Halflings of Golarion, just for the Helpful trait, if nothing else. There are some other traits and racial stuff, too, including the Jinx thing, which I still want to try one of these days.
If you're ever going to want to do a cleric or other divine follower of a Tien deity, you'll need the Dragon Empires Gazateer, which lists all the favored weapons, domains, and subdomains that aren't in other books. Other than that, I think it's mostly redundant with Dragon Empires Primer, but with just a little more detail on the fluff. But not enough to buy it just for the fluff if you already have DEP.

I see what you're saying. The FAQ still actually does place it in the core assumption though. I don't have a problem buying it, but hopefully that can get fixed and GMs won't be too strict in the meantime. I don't see bestiary 1 in the new guide assumptions either. That might be an issue for some animal companions and familiars.

The Dungeoneers handbook offers some nice items and traits.
Eh, it'd be better if the torchbearer archetypes weren't inexplicably illegal.
