So, with This post we have some guidelines for how Aasimar and Tiefling grandfathering works. Played characters need to be played as aasimar/tieflings, DM credit should be declared aasimars/tieflings.
So, for those of you who don't have a notary in your gaming group, this thread exists to provide a time stamped proof positive record of your native outsideryness.

Also; aren't you supposed to have all your chronicle sheets with you at games in case of GM questions regarding the character (i.e. boons and such, date of scenarios played, current resources, etc?).
I have a binder of my current volume of characters, which now includes a 2nd level teifling cleric. If your record keeping is sound, the grandfathering shouldn't be an issue. *shrug*

There isn't one, I just made that up. But now that you mention it...That does seem like an interesting combo. :)

I think that's an excellent idea. You should start another post about this and see what people have to say. The Lamplighter Faction was an awesome idea and got tons of input. Please?

Sure. Why not? What's the worst that can happen?

Is the "born" date when they got their first xp?
I have one planning to be birthed on July 28, though I've already posted to the forums in character with him once.

We Be Goblins credit 7 June 2014
I hate to break it to you, but We Be Goblins doesn't count. Per John Compton in this post:
None of our pregenerated characters are aasimars or tieflings, so that means that pregen credit is not sufficient for grandfathering in a character.
And obviously, you're always playing a pregen when you play We Be Goblins.

wait - what if I have a PC that plays as a tiefling or aasimar, gains one XP - and then I want to train him into something else? Say a Nagagi. Can I use the 1st level re-write rules to do that? or is the PC "locked" into being a tiefling or aasimar?
or if he was a Tiefling can I change him into an Aasimar before I play him at Level 2?
Or if he was one kind of Aasimar (say Anglekin) can I change him into another (say Musetouched) before I play him at Level 2?

You all need to lay off a bit on the coffee.

You're mostly fine. John made it clear in the other thread.
You can retrain out of Aasimar/Tiefling. You can change subrace.
You can NOT go from Aasimar to Tiefling or vice versa.

Good point. Not sure if that applies here.

Does this thread actually accomplish anything? I mean, my wife has a 3XP character, along with a character sheet for a 2nd-level aasimar, but it hasn't been played as an aasimar. To my knowledge, even if she comes in here and says HEY LOOK AASIMAR she's still out of luck unless she can actually get a game in before the deadline.
Right?

Right?
Correct. This is a social thread that doesn't actually count for anything.

As a note I will never spend this much effort to come on the boards and check someone for their characters race.
I will take your word for it.
Honestly what is to stop some one from forging a chronicle and past dating it?
The exact same thing that stops somebody from forging any other chronicle sheet.

Thats why I will take thier word for it. If they lie to my face they will lie on a piece of paper as well.

Honestly, it is threads like this that make me, a new PFS player, want reconsider my involvement in PFS.
It is a game.
If someone plays a new character as one of the planetouched really really close to the deadline, this imaginary little world will not be ruined.
No beasts, magical or mundane will be harmed.
/signed, an Aasimar of class to be named later... or maybe a Tiefling.

Give it a chance. And don't worry too much about this uproar. This ruling (the played-as ruling) seems pretty uncharacteristic of PFS as I've experienced it over the last year and a half. :-)
Yeah, there's paperwork and rules to follow, but those are the (acceptable) costs of organized play, and Mike & John do an excellent job running the campaign.
This particular ruling is not my favorite ever (though I support moving Aasimars and Tieflings out of the "always available" category), but I wouldn't worry too much as a new player that this is how things always are. Like I said, it seems uncharacteristic.
But, of course, YMMV. You may find that the strictures of organized play don't suit you. At least if that does turn out to be the case, PFS is a great place to meet other PF players to form home groups! :-)

Exactly. Some people are going overboard on the rules for this.
I have seen DMs abuse(cheat) the rules to force people into not playing their character at their table and that wrecks PFS.
Maybe this is some form of power and control that makes them feel good. But it bothers me a great deal the amount of stress people are placing on this.

Chuckle... its a bit of tongue in cheek humor. Relax. You PROBABLY won't run into anyone this persnickety.
Probably...

Oath's post is really valuable constructive feedback. There are people who won't see this thread, nobody at Paizo has asked people to record a post like this, and doing so will make some people think "you don't have a post, so your character is probably a dud."
For that reason, unless campaign staff says it's a rule, posting here should actually be discouraged.

You seem to have mistaken the Pathfinder Society forums on Paizo.com for a place people come to discuss playing Pathfinder Society. That's not what this is. These forums are for people whose hobby is debating people on the internet, not for people who actually play PFS.

Hey now. Some of us like to play PFS and debate people on the Internet.
