I may have a GMing slot opening soon and I was curious what the interest level would be for higher level, shorter duration episodes of adventure paths. As if AP books were modules. So here I am to poll the Cmmunity.
How would you like to play, say, Skull and Shackles book 3, and only book 3. Or Carrion Crown book 2. Is that something that interests you? What books, first in series not included, appeal to you? What do you think of my mad scheme?
I don't exactly plan on this turning into a recruitment thread, but I won't rule it out if this explodes in my face. To be clear, this campaign of mine, whatever it ends up being, won't be starting right away. I still have another game to finish up. Just testing the waters.

If you want to test it out, Serpent's Skull book 2 is about as railroad-y as it gets, but still has a coherent and compelling story.
Book 5 of Reingn of Winter has an awesome hook, so it might be a good sell, too.
The challenge with APs is that the players will always know that there is more out there, so stopping after one section might be I satisfying. Modules do tend to tie things up a bit.
Fangwood Keep is a decent mid-range module to run through, but I'm sure there are more and even better.

I would be interested in this. I think most of the adventure paths really come into their own after the 1st book. In particular, book 4 of CotCT and SD, book 2 of CoT, books 2 and 4 of CC, books 3 and 5 of S&S seem to stand out as highlights for me.
I would also be willing to try my hand at GM'ing book 5 of RoW. I hope that being a native Russian speaker will help me make it feel more authentic ;)
That said, I would be up for a mid-to-high level module too. Perhaps one of the recent 64-page ones?

I'm interested. I've never played a PbP game before though.
Skull & Shackles (Any book), Serpent's Skull (book 4-6), and Reign of Winter(Book 2 & 3).
Anything but Wrath of the Righteous would be fine, but the above appeal to me the most.
If you ran this, would you allow ACG classes? I'm very much in the mood to test out the investigator and the skald, but I've yet to find a game to play them in. Not important, for my interest, just curious.

Ok, I have access to all the AP's plus the following higher level modules (that I would be willing to run):
Realm of the Fellknight Queen (lvl 7)
Curse of the Riven Sky (lvl 10)
Witchwar Legacy (lvl 17)
Cult of the Ebon Destroyers (lvl 8)
Tomb of the Iron Medusa (lvl 14)
The Harrowing (lvl 9)
The Ruby Phoenix Tournament (lvl 11)
No Response from Deepmar (lvl 8)
The Moonscar (lvl 16)
Anyone have any advice on which are good for someone rather inexperienced with higher level play to run? Most of my experience lies in the level 1-4 range, though my home game players are now lvl 7.
This will not hinder me, however. I still plan to run one of these whether it be AP book or module.

I'm good with the following modules;
Witchwar Legacy (lvl 17)
Tomb of the Iron Medusa (lvl 14)
The Moonscar (lvl 16)
and
The Ruby Phoenix Tournament (lvl 11).
It should be noted that the higher we go the more time we'll need to finish our characters due to the bigger cash pool, and character feat/variable_Class_Feature choices might not be as optimized as the player thought.
Edit Added links to modules so folks can get the rough idea of the module.

But since High level play is very rare, it's quite the treat to try it.
tomb_of_horrors is also a good choice and it's free.

I've got a channeling cleric I've been wanting to play so anything undead heavy I'm for. That being said I think I liked Tomb of the Iron Medusa, Witchwar Legacy, and The harrowing the most out of that list.

I'd be interested. It can definitely be frustrating never getting beyond first-level because PBPs die out so frequently.
That said, I have to admit my experience trying to run more standalone games has been mixed, at best. I felt like I had to really fight to get Realm of the Fellnight Queen through to completion and ended up cutting short Witchwar Legacy and Ironwall Gap Must Hold. I think people feel less committed to games that aren't ongoing campaigns (or the shorter PFS modules, which you could also argue are ongoing campaigns in a way).
High-level play can get confusing. There are a lot of options and effects really stack on each other, so it can be trick/time-consuming in combat. I'd definitely make sure you have players that are going to help you out with posting styles.

I would probably be interested in:
Realm of the Fellknight Queen
The Harrowing
Reign of Winter 5: Rasputin Must Die!
Council of Thieves 2: The Sixfold Trial (Probably most interested in this one. I've heard the play is quite fun.)
Carrion Crown 2: Trial of the Beast (A close second. I know precious little about Carrion Crown, so this one would probably be the most blind for me.)

my suggestions as someone who has run/played some of the standalone modules you mentioned:
The ruby phoenix tournament: not a bad module, but it wasn't quite prepared for the group I played through it with.
The Harrowing and The tomb of the iron medusa: Both interesting and fantastic modules. You will be challenged.
Realm of the fellknight queen: it was fun to run, and I think my players enjoyed it, but it felt kinda standard adventure-y to me.
Cult of the ebon destroyers: enjoyable and tough module.
Those are the ones I have experience with from the list you presented. I'd definitely recommend tomb of the iron medusa and the harrowing.
