Somewhere around PaizoCon we start seeing inquiries on the messageboards about when the Gen Con scenarios will be ready. The answer is the same this year as in past years, which essentially boils down to the following bullet points:

  • Gen Con scenarios (including the Specials) go out the Friday preceding Gen Con (August 8th). This is the latest we intend to distribute them to registered GMs.
  • Some scenarios may go out earlier based on when they are finished in-house.

We remember the requests from GMs in past years to have as much material as early as possible to facilitate preparation. Right now editorial and art staff are courageously (and very effectively) working through these adventures to get them to you on (if not ahead of) schedule. We'll keep you posted with any updates.

That's a lot of parentheses!

Darn it....

I was just about to make a thread asking about this...

Thanks John! How much is liable to change in the already-previewed parts of Legacy of the Stonelords? If we start prepping based on what's already there, will we be pretty safe?

When should we expect to receive the scenarios we're running that have already been released? I'd rather save the 4 bucks if possible. :)

Thanks for the information! I was starting to wonder when i would recieve the scenarios for Gen Con. This answers my inquiry

Silver Crusade 2/5

Two semi-related questions:

(1) The new quests are debuting at GenCon. Will they be available for general play on August 14th, or is there a waiting period before they're opened up?

(2) The new Season 6 Guide to Organized Play debuts August 14th as well, correct? (I'm guessing on the start date of GenCon here ...)

We've got an introductory scenario scheduled for August 14th to celebrate all the new season goodies (ACG! Shadows and snakes and foxes! New factions! Maybe a new guide!), and it would be great if we could use the quests for that. :-)

Currently, we've scheduled Master of the Fallen Fortress, since we'll be running the Confirmation and First Steps a couple times in the week or two prior to help anyone who wants to reserve an Aasimar or Tiefling. I've never played or run Master, but prepping it, it looks like it might run on a while, and it would be nice to have the flexibility offered by the quests to free up some time for character creation on-site, since most of the goodies we'll be celebrating are new that very day.

In other words, love the promise of the quests, can't wait to put them to use! :-)

You may want to release a list of all of the flip mats used in each scenario so GMs can start looking for the ones they need.

Jason,

What are you running? I did not get a chance to say hello a Dexcon. PM me and I will see if I might be able to get you as a GM for one of my slots.

Most of what is written in the playtest document will remain with few changes. The themes of the various encounters are changing very little—really only to mesh better with the added section. The creatures encountered will remain about the same.

Be aware that some of the locations might have additional descriptions or components that play into the added section, so it's important to at least quickly read over the "old" sections in the final document. I imagine at least one person will write up a brief change log when the adventure is available.

We're expecting to have several scenarios ready to distribute to GMs later today.

No rush John, you still have until next Friday to complete these and the [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED].

Looks like you're gonna have to cut something unnecessary out of your schedule....like sleep.

I assume that John cut sleep out of his schedule a two months ago prior to PaizoCon. At this point he's going to need to cut either eating or using the bathroom. Perhaps forgoing the former will eliminate the need for the latter

Someone hook an IV (w/ caffeine) up to John and chain him to his desk.

Much appreciated.

Wait, being chained to a desk was supposed to come with a caffeine IV? I…I missed that memo.

Since they have to be added individually to individual accounts, I'd be patient. I'm due to receive them roughly when everyone else does, and I have not yet had those scenarios added to my downloads. They're on their way, however. I've gotten scenarios added to my downloads as late as 10pm CDT.

John says they're releasing them today, and I'm sure they will be.

Oh, they've been added to my downloads. If you don't have the PaizoCon version of Stonelords and/or a link at the top of your download page showing "The following one product have been added to your account, but are not currently available for download" for Bonekeep 3 then you need to email John or Mike like yesterday. Once they're done, they just need to upload them to the site and we all will get instant access.

There's a fair chance that Quests and/or Ruins of Bonekeep will be done before Friday. Legacy of the Stonelords and The Technic Siege are probably going to be Friday.

Keep in mind that we're juggling a lot of projects with lots of moving parts and final checklists, so the best I can do right now is provide a prediction of when we'll see these products until they're actually ready to go online.

Amusingly enough, The Paths We Choose (5-99) is showing up as a Season 6 scenario. . .

Edit: also, there seems to be some mislabeling regarding the flip-mat/map packs used for certain maps.

4/5 ****

According to the products page 5-99 is a season 6 scenario.

Considering the release date it makes sense.

Although If I were in charge of the universe I would have made Legacy of the Stonelords 5-99 and Paths we Choose 6-00 but c'est la vie.

Update #5
The Ruins of Bonekeep, Level Three: The Wakening Tomb and Pathfinder Quests: The Silverhex Chronicles are cued up to hit downloads tomorrow morning.

#6–03: The Technic Siege and #6–00: Legacy of the Stonelords are both nearing completion and should be showing up in peoples' downloads soon after that (either Friday evening or early Saturday morning is my understanding).

#6–00 Map Update:
Also, Legacy of the Stonelords no longer makes use of Flip-Mat: Cathedral.

I agree. There has been a lot of confusion in the community trying to keep the two specials separate. IMHO, 5-99 should have been called 6-00 since it is the season launching special.

The current 6-00 which is the season five conclusion should have just followed the normal numbering scheme and been called 5-26. Or if we wanted it to appear more special and be outside the normal numbering, call it 5-99.

Umm...#5-99 takes place after #6-00 from what I can tell in my read through...

Dark Archive 4/5

The second paragraph refers to the conclusion of the "expedition TO the sky citadel"(which began in #5-24) not the exploration of it, nor the return trip. Also 6-00 in the summary refers to the expedition into the citadel. That information together implies that #5-99 is happening as the Society is finishing the trek to the citadel or close to it, but not that the group has explored the place as far as I can tell. A quick timeline might make that more concrete for us though.

That is what I was thinking as well. It mentioned that glories were gained up there, but that we were still there. It can easily be adjusted for people who play it after #6-00, but it feels they went out of their way to drop hints that it happened before.

Correct me if I'm wrong - the last time I remember folks asking about the chronological order of scenarios, the answer was that numerical order is chronological order.

Steve Miller wrote:

Well, scenario 3-11 is QFP II: On hostile Waters.

Scenario 3-12 is Wonders in the Weave I: The Dog Pharaoh's Tomb.
and Scenario 3-13 is QFP III: Defenders of Nesting Swallow.

We didn't get the Tapestry until after 3-13 QFP III, yet we're exploring it in 3-12 WoW I.

Corner example to an otherwise accurate statement.

#5–99: The Paths We Choose has a purposefully ambiguous time frame for several reasons. First, we're running it before #6–00 at Gen Con. Second, I didn't want the adventure to assume success in Jormurdun and spoil the surprises found in the sky citadel. Third, I want it to feel relevant to play for months, and locking it into a very specific place in the timeline would make it just a little harder to schedule/buy into come [for example] December.

While the numbers of the two Specials could have been reversed to good effect, they're also very effective where they are now. Both summarize and resolve previous events in Season 5. Both are very relevant to events in Season 6. In a way, The Paths We Choose feels like the end of season faction boon from a year ago, but this time the boon comes with a super-sized adventure. On the other hand, it references the new factions rather than the old. Ah, but it also shouldn't be the X–00 special because that "traditionally" goes to our big, combat-heavy Special, and Legacy of the Stonelords better fits that mold.

It can go back and forth with pros and cons, but ultimately I feel the way we assigned the numbers was the better choice.

Dark Archive 4/5

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. thanks John.
