I will be traveling to GenCon this year with my son. We are signed up as GMs at Scottys Brewhouse on the Wednesday morning.
We will have one game each day and could join up with others who would like to play with us:
Thursday: 1pm slot Horn of Aroden (my son only) - I GM
Thursday: GenCon Special - already meeting up with a group
Friday: 1 pm The Silver Mount collection
Saturday: 8am Vengeance at Sundered Crack
Sunday: 9am Trial by machine
If you are interested to play with us - drop me a PM or my e-mail should be in my profile.
This leaves some 10 days to fill. I plan to do sightseeing for most of the time. This will include as many game shops as possible. Meeting up with players and maybe having a few games would be a bonus.
I plan to hire a car - at least for some of the stay. So we should be flexible. I don't give a fixed distance I'm willing to travel. This depends what else to see / whom to meet.
We might even get as far a Michigan if we combine this with a stay at the Indianapolis Dunes.
It doesn't has to be PFS - maybe even an introduction to the Pathfinder Cards game or just chatting with people is fine. Only meeting in a bar over a beer is not a good idea as my son is a minor.
Here is what I managed to find so far:
Saltire Games - East Side Indianapolis -- Fridays 7pm-12 pm

Phone:(317) 823-1645
Gametime Indy - North Side Indianapolis -- Saturdays 11am-9pm

Phone:(317) 577-0900
Comic Carnival -North Side Indianapolis -- 1 Sunday a month

Phone:(317) 253-8882
Danger Room - Anderson
833 E. 53rd St,Anderson, IN, US 46013
Phone:(765) 646-6341
The Wizard's Keep - Muncie
2144 W. White River Blvd.
Muncie, IN, US 47303-5241
(765) 286-5145
Sages Shoppe Lafyette- Sundays
Common Room Games Bloomington
Lightspeed games Valporasio
Griffon Book Store Southbend
Here are my personal remarks to the above:
Saltire Games - Friday evening - possible 8th August
Gametime Indy - no PFS advertised as far as I can tell
Comic Carnival - Looks like once a month around the 20th - only possible 3rd or 10th
Danger Room - Anderson - seems once a month - 16th in conflict with GenCon
The Wizard's Keep - Muncie - couldn't find any PFS games advertised
Common Room Games Bloomington - August 4th or 11th looks good - any way to get scenario information ahead of time
Griffon Book Store - a little bit far without any added incentive
So if you can add suggestions - or like to meet up - post or send me a PM. I need to finalize this soon.

I only know the Indianapolis area well, but basically I run games at Comic Carnival on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Saltire is every Friday. Game Time and a new venue, Hero's Emporium, alternate running games on Saturday. Danger Room is a newer venue as well and I don't believe it has a set schedule just yet. All of those are generally what I'd consider suburban areas, however Broad Ripple is near Comic Carnival and Hero's Emporium and is host to lots of restaurants and bars. Also, some music venues and a comedy club.
There is also a place downtown called Gamer's Paradise that doesn't host PFS, but does a lot of other games. It also has the benefit of being in Fountain Square which is one of our cooler neighborhoods. There's a meadery, a couple breweries, burlesque theater and a couple music venues.
Indy also has the largest and "best" Children's Museum fun for all ages. We're also home to a nice art museum and zoo and a bunch of racing/sports stuff that I don't know anything about.

Thod,
Sages Shoppe has their own warhorn.
Common room games list their games on the stores website.
Also of course we could run a special slot or game. Or even at a private residence.
Feel free to find us on Facebook.
Chris
Thanks - I heavily dislike FB - but I'm known to overcome my dislike if I have to reach out to other PFS players.
Common room currently has scenarios listed until end of July. We have already done a lot of scenarios - so not everyone works for us. At least we should have characters for every tier and nearly every sub-tier.
Will check out Sages Shoppe - and always open to meet up for a 'special' organized game. Brings back memories of three games I played in the Groton/Philiafelphia area while on business trips. One Star Wars - ahead of my OP time and two games in a Groton shop specially organized.
For me it's more than just gaming - a huge part of it is meeting new people.
Oh - and Friday GenCon slot is gone now - will play with Eric Clingenpeel.
Edit: and I just get instructions that we are looking for 2 more players.

Thod,
I don't know if you found the complete warhorn for the Indianapolis area...here is the link:
https://warhorn.net/events/central-indiana-pfs/schedule/2014/07
We are still trying to set up games for the 9th (Saturday). Being so close to Gencon a lot of the local GM's are likely prepping games they are running either at Gencon, or the Pre-Gencon Games at Scotties.
Additionally, if you want to play a game or three of Pathfinder Cardgame on the 9th, I would be willing find a place to play at one of the local stores.
I hope this helps.

Lightspeed is in Portage. They have Pathfinder Society every other Thursday.
Valparaiso has Galactic Greg's, which was more of a comic store the last time I was in there many years ago.
If you are going to come this far north, you might as well visit Chicago.
Indiana Dunes/National Lake Shore is definitely worth seeing. A minor wonder of the world with a large variety of biomes banded within just a few miles.

Gametime for the weekend looks good. Time to book my non-GenCon related hotels. I felt I have more time for these. Will take care it is on the right side of Indianapolis.
Season 0-3 is pretty much played / GMed - with only very few missing on higher tier - but there are large gaps in season 4 and 5 - even with low tier.
If there is interest - I can always GM something as well. I would only need a way to print out chronicle sheets from a USB stick as I won't travel fully prepared for all eventualities.

Thod,
If you wanted, and if Chris can get a table at Gametime on Sunday, I'd be glad to run something for your and your son. Just name a scenario and I'll get it ready for then. Unless, it truly is the one scenario you really want to play, I'd like to avoid "The Stranger Within" as I'm playing that at Scotties.
If not, I'll be running Cairn of Shadows on the 10th at Sage's Shoppe in West Lafayette if you'd like to drop in. It's a slight trek from Indy, but not too bad (about an hour to hour and a half).
EDIT:I can't second Greg's mention of the Children's Museum enough either. Currently, they have the terracotta warriors from China (only US stop for them in '14) and currently the world' most complete mummified dinosaur if you have interest in those sorts of things.

So on August 3 I have reserved space for Hero's Emporium.
It would be great if we could get snigg to run a 2 credit game such as a level of Thornkeep, thus gaining his 5th star.
Now we just need to get a scenario.
I am at 149 now...anything is fine;)
I had one more table this last weekend =p

I'm close to panic mode - lots of stuff needs doing before I leave - most non games related ...
But pieces slowly fall into place:
Friday night - hotel booked close to the airport as we arrive late
Saturday - plan to pick up a car and move hotel (still need to book everything)
Saturday - Gametimes it is - seems they start at 11:00 - so should aim for 10:30
Sunday - Hero's Emporium - need a time - one slot preferred
I probably will give Monday a pause for gaming. Don't want overload.
Below is a list of not yet played/gmed scenarios / not yet scheduled ones. can't believe that the list for season 5 shrank so quickly. That was twice the size just a week ago ...
I hope it leaves enough choice. We have done Thornkeep completely. I don't think Emerald Spire is legal yet?
Season 1:
#34: Encounter at the Drowning Stones
#53: Everwar-P IV: The Faithless Dead
Season 2:
#2-08: The Sarkorian Prophecy
Season 3:

It is an honor to be on a five star table !! Looking forward to it !!

If you have a scenario out of those you'd really like the chance at playing, I own and could prep any of them. Most of them I already have printed out.
Otherwise, 3-06, 4-13, 4-14, 4-19, 4-23, or 5-17 are ones I've run multiple times and could probably give the best game for this weekend.
Just let me know what tickles your fancy. See you on Sunday!

Top 3
4-23 Rivalries End
3-06 Song of the Sea Witch
4-14 My Enemies Enemy
But more important then my choice
Choose a scenario you have other players you like to GM
Choose a scenario you enjoy GMing
That reminds me - Cyphermage Dilemma should be taken off the list - it slipped through because I GMed it nearly 10 times as 3-ex

Ah, but Thod. You're the guest in town for this, so to me, your choice would be most important.
However, since the top of your top 3 matches another request, we'll set it for 4-23 Rivalries End.
I'll dig out my maps, folder and what not and see you on Sunday. Looks like 12-5 is the "norm" for there (if two times can be a norm), so unless I hear otherwise, I will assume that will be the case for this as well?
Red-Assassin |
12-5 is the correct time.
I likely will not post this since we are already at 5 players.
Also I am thinking of smoking either a ham or a chicken earlier that day. Which is crazy for the time it will take. So choices?
Also Mark do you think I should recruit another table or 2 since the store usually would be open?

Thod - (Yes, I know I still owe you an email) BartonOliver is correct - these are a bunch of our local people here who haven't had a chance to play that one, and we're more than happy to have you down here in Bloomington anytime you'd like.
The owner of Common Room Games just got back in the country himself, so we should know what scenarios will be run for August 4th by tomorrow, and I'll try to get some advanced information as to what's being run on August 11th and 18th as well.

All
If you don't hear from me (until I'm over in the US) then because I'm just finalizing everything here. Just printing chronicles for Scotties brew-house, ensure we have everything else, etc.
Just need to download We be Goblins. Characters are printed and laminated. And my son has nice figures for all encounters and for the players.
Not sure yet what I will use ...
2Mike:
Will check with Bloomington. The 4th might be ambitious as I might want a day rest from gaming and will get in trouble back home if I haven't done my quota of culture. On the other hand - I still should have a car.
How far is Bloomington from Indi? I contemplated originally to book a hotel somewhere there on a Monday night - but now everything is booked for either Indianapolis and for three nights close to Indiana Dunes.
I plan to have a car for the first week (still need to book this one).
Thod |
We arrived fine yesterday evening. Both suitcases are missing since Newark. Seems several customers on our plane had this issue.
All figures, dice, chronicles, 5+ refill T-shirts and other gaming stuff all currently missing. Will try gamestore today - an introduction to the card game sounds best.
Hope to have the luggage by tomorrow.
Back to bed now.nearly 10am in the UK but seems still early here.
Oh - but have WiFi now and I'm just glad we moved last minute the chargers into carry on. So 2 iPads and phones and chargers are among the few bits we still have with us. Makes travel easy.

See you tomorrow afternoon!

I just wanted to say Thank-You for a great time at Game Times. We had a lot of fun playing Harsk and Ezent in our first outing in the Pathfinder Card Game. The first NE went to the wire with success on the last round - with odds against us as 10+ cards must have been left.
The second one was a breeze.
I can also say that we have our luggage back. Was waiting for us at the baggage claim this morning - possibly came in with the first flight. Online it was still 'lost' and I mainly passed by to check for updates when getting a hire car.
So after a fumble we had a critical success. And we don't have to show up with pregens for a fifth star game. Interestingly that was more a concern as some clothes which I could have got something today.
One last scare when opened the luggage. The laptop bag was missing the laptop. But apparently my suitcase was not only lost but got an extra luggage check - so the laptop was between the clothes.
In the new hotel and WiFi a lot better. Relaxing now before investigating the close neighbourhood at least. And looking forward to tomorrow.
