Cant get motivated for S&S

Skull & Shackles

We are supposed to be starting this AP soon. I am having a hard time getting motivated for it. I have not read spoilers but I guess I am just not that into pirates. The high amount of skill check mechanics and ship v ship combat just don't sound exciting to me.

Should I go for it? Any others have these feelings going in and end up enjoying the AP?

skills aren't that bad just make sure you take Profession (sailor) for sailing, perception to spot the pirate booty, swim and survival so you dont die (well okay you still might die) someone else can help with motivation, as i've always been a fan of pirates, both fictional and real:)

in regards to ship to ship combat, talk to your GM about your concerns, they are mostly to get you engaged with the other ship for boarding (you'll see, i might've said too much already) he might have plans for tweaks or different 3pp supplements he wants to use so give him a chance and have an open mind before deciding its not your cup o' tea.
the great thing about Skull & Shackles is its fairly open so a lot of stuff for a GM to work with to make a really immersive story for you:)

honestly if you aren't into it, skip it. No point doing something you won't be into, its not fair to you, and its not fair to a group if you go through and half-a$$ it.

Talk to your GM, see if they will discuss what their plans on, and maybe give it a try for a session or two.

But I talked to my group about ship to ship, and at first they wanted to skip it, but now they really are digging it, and once it gets into boarding its like a regular encounter.

Anyways, good luck with your choice.

Silver Crusade

We recently finished this AP. Although book one was a little less enjoyable, it really picked up after that. I enjoyed the ship combat because the additional rules were something new and different. We had two great DMs running it, and this is one of my favorite APs so far!

There were things we didn't like either, so we skipped them (including ship v ship combat) and had the most fun any of us could remember.
