A little more S&S speculation to pass the time

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

So, what I've been reading about the Oracle - as a non-player of the RPG - implies to me that it's powers are incredibly dependent on which mystery it takes. Does anyone fancy wild guesses on how that might work in the ACG? Or does anyone know if there's an iconic oracle related to the S&S story?

The main iconic characters all come out when the character class they represent is made and those are the characters that are used in the main card game sets, not any characters new to the RPG adventure paths the set is based on. Since the oracle class has been out since the Advanced Player's Guide, Pathfinder's iconic oracle has been out for a while. Her name is Alahazra and she is a Flame oracle.

flame, eh? probably easier than some to design powers for

Note that although Alahazra is a flame Oracle, it should be noted that Seoni as stated is an arcane Sorcerer, but has celestial and abberant bloodline rolecards. I'd guess Alahazra will have role cards for two different mysteries, and the theoretically coming Oracle class deck will cover other mysteries.

No mention of an Oracle class deck so far.

In fact, not all the same classes from RotR are represented, only the base set 7: Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Rander, Rogue, Sorcerer, Wizard. We're expecting that the Barbarian, Druid, Monk and Paladin decks will be announced next some time.

Yeah, I don't know when we'll see APG classes as class decks. Considering that a lot of the inspiration for the non-iconic characters in those decks came from the NPC Codex, and that none of the APG classes are represented in that book, I don't know if they'd have enough characters to base the alternates off of. That goes double for the Advanced Class Guide classes. I'd really like to have an Alchemist deck, though.

Well, I think in some cases, it was really just about having artwork. So long as they can get artwork for the classes, they can come up with characters. All the Advanced Class Guide classes are getting two posts on the Paizo blog, one introducing the class, one introducing the iconic. The intro for the class has so far (I think) contained artwork of a second character for that class.

For example:
Brawler - Kess
Swashbuckler - Jirelle

That gives them half the characters for those class decks. They'd just need to find 2 more pieces of art. And potentially the Advanced Class Guide itself might have some. Hopefully the same is true of the other classes.

True. They can use the artwork from the various archetypes of the classes. It would be rather cool to see how a Shield Champion Brawler would translate to the Card Game.

Right now, we know of the first 7 class decks and I'm going to guess that the next 4 are the ones from the first add-on. And that would round out the 11 iconics. Again, I'm going to compare this to PF RPG. And since the class decks are for the organized play, I'm going to guess that after those 11, the next three would be Gunslinger, Ninja and Samurai. That comes from the pre-gen characters for PFS RPG.

Since PACG OP is based on the S&S Bas Set, I wouldn't hold my breath for the ninja and samurai.

I think in wave 3 we get Class Decks for those classes which are in S&S and not in RotR :
Gunslinger, Swashbuckler, Warpriest, Oracle, Magus, Alchemist, Witch

Sovereign Court

Only this first season is based on S&S. Every season will be based on the current set (so, the next season will Wrath of the Righteous). By the time we start having more than 11 class decks, we won't be in S&S anymore. Maybe not even Wrath.

Scarab Sages

A magus class deck would be awesome. The Staff Magus in particular sounds really cool - a bonus to using blunt weapons with spells or something. Could be really cool. We'll have to wait with bated breath and see.

Well, I haven't guessed that we get 7 class decks in the same month as they release S&S, but it seems they have data which implies players have a lots of money to spend on PACG. :)

My guess that we get another wave with Wrath, to provide fresh character options for the new OP events. I doubt we get a Class Deck for any class before it's Iconic appears in a base set.

I would be happy to see the Samurai and the Ninja, but I guess that only happens if/when they release Jade Regent.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Vic has hinted that there are plans to release more class decks sometime around February. The exact date, the number of new decks, and the class types have not been mentioned. Though Vic mentions it being about 7 classes. February is also when the Wrath of the Righteous should be shipping.

They won't be repeating classes (or at least prefer not to) until all classes have a class deck. So however many are released, they should all be new class deck options.

Also, I'm not sure what a Raider is but it appears on Ranzak. I also noticed it appears as the citation for the flavor text on Teraktinus, where he is called "Raider Teraktinus". Thus, in terms of art, we are halfway to a "Raider Class Deck". Perhaps one that could be a Paizo store exclusive?... I'm obviously kidding with that one... Or am I?

First seven are what I mentioned above. So if it is another seven in Feb; Barbarian, Druid, Monk, Paladin ... Gunslinger, Ninja, and Samurai. :-P

(Again, just going off of the possible pregens from Pathfinder Society. There are 14 pregened classes.)

I wouldn't put too much stock in the pregens available for Pathfinder Society RPG. There will be pregens for the new classes in the Advanced Class guide ready for Gencon, so sayeth the publisher. The Swashbuckler and Warpriest are examples of classes from that book.

Also, it's my understanding that the Witch, Alchemist, and Oracle had pregens at one point, but they've been rotated out of circulation for PFS RPG play. I imagine they'll rotate them in again when someone has enough bandwidth to work on them. (Likely after the convention season is over). If you play the RPG and are curious about what they might look like, check out the Free RPG Day Module: Masters of the Fallen Fortress.

So: Of the three you mentioned, the Gunslinger is the only one I'd think could be dropping in February. I wouldn't expect to see a Ninja or Samurai in a class deck until we saw them in a base set first. With the theme those classes have, I'd wager dollars to doughnuts that they'd be put into a future Jade Reagent base set.

there is a pregen floating around for every one of paizo's currently available base classes, plus the ones that they have previewed so far for the advanced class guide. The pregens for the witch was Freya, the alchemist is damiel, and the oracle is alhandra (I probably misspelled that one).

My theoretical comment was more about the fact that if the decks are successful, they'll likely continue on expanding

Based on what Hawkmoon said, if they release another 7 class decks I think we get the following :

- Barbarian, Druid, Monk, Paladin are almost sure, so they finish the 11 Core Classes

- Then I guess they would include at least one arcane class, which could be Witch and/or Magus (at that point they will have enough data to see how these classes perform)

- For the remaining 1-2 Class Decks I think Gunslinger and Alchemist are the best candidates. They are somewhat different from any other class, and seems to be more reliant on a class deck for playability with any base set than others.

Raider is not a class in the RPG, so I highly doubt if we ever get a Class Deck for it. Most likely promo Ranzak got that class to make him unplayable in OP events.
