I need some help here. I started this character off with this idea of sorta remaking Paladin from Have Gun Will Travel. I've been looking at him and I'm kinda at a loss of what to do with him. The character is a 1 Gunslinger/3 Paladin. I'd like to stick with the character concept but I don't know if I can live with just doing 1d8 damage going into level 5.

Here are my stats:

It looks like you're mostly intending to use your gun rather than melee?

For melee, you should get weapon finesse and add 'agile' to your weapon. Smite will add a lot of damage vs evil enemies.

For focusing on ranged attacks, you are better off taking more levels of gunslinger plus the deadly aim feat.

I don't know the character reference but deadly aim is a pretty big must have. I'd have gone oath of vengeance and it might be worth looking into retraining into it, trade weak lay on hands for smites. Even the powergamiest power gamer in our area feels bad about double barrel guns but with that and smite and cha to dmg when it counts you are a bbeg killer. One of our venture officers around here runs a similar setup a bit higher level and with deadly aim and does fine without the double barrel gun so you should be even more than fine.

Get the silver smite bracelet ASAP and probably reliable for your gun (1-3 misfire with paper carts and no quick clear is an accident waiting to happen)

(Under special attacks your grit is listed as one but should be 3, don't be afraid to use it to secure a kill and get the point back)

I'm planning on going ranged. I was kind of at a loss of what to do after getting Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot (Precise shot being almost required). I'm considering going two weapon fighting down the road so I can use two pistols.

Unless you can get an extra arm, or similar, you can't reload if you're holding 2 guns.

Or you need quickdraw and a lot of guns.

Before going for 2 weapon fighting, you probably want deadly aim and rapid shot. Getting more levels of gunslinger will help more than anything, which wastes a lot of the paladin abilities. I think that this build suits a switch hitter better than a predominantly ranged character.
