METEOR HAMMER
Price 10 gp
Type exotic
This weapon consists of one or two spherical weights attached by a 10-foot chain. You whirl the weights and wrap them around an opponent's body. If you succeed at a trip attempt with a meteor hammer, you can drag your opponent 5 feet closer to you rather than knocking her prone. You may use this weapon in two different ways: In meteor mode you use it as a double weapon, while in fortress mode you cannot use it as a double weapon but gain reach and a +1 shield bonus to AC. Switching between these two modes is a free action decided at the start of your turn.

Assuming its at range. Can use it to make trips as part of TWF, assuming I am kicking someone as well?

Does that provoke AOO

If I trip someone do I need to drag them to me or can I just trip them?

Firstly, you can always replace a melee attack with a trip, disarm, or sunder. So you could replace any or all attacks of a full attack routine with trips.

Second, yes, it provokes an AoO from the target if you don't have Improved Trip. If they don't threaten you, they can't take that AoO (so with reach you're safe from medium or smaller opponents without reach weapons or other extraordinary reach).

Thrice, it says in the text "If you succeed at a trip attempt with a meteor hammer, you can drag your opponent 5 feet closer to you rather than knocking her prone." This clearly gives you the choice of "knock prone" or "drag 5 feet closer". It says can, not must.
