The Exchange

Hello Gamers,

I know you are all going to think I am stupid here.

I need some insight here on creating a PFS character.

Which of these two race would be the better choice from.

Aasimars / Tiefling

20 point buy, 2 Traits, 150 gold to purchase gear with.

What is the better route to go with the following classes?

Magus?
Divine Hunter (Paladin)?
Ranger? (with a companion which one be better)
Druid? (with a companion which one be better)

Any help would be great. Please

What image do you have for your character? That's kind of a broad range of options to choose from.

Out of these which is the most effective class for PFS?

Magus?
Divine Hunter (Paladin)?
Ranger? (with a companion which one be better)
Druid? (with a companion which one be better)

And then which of these two races would benefit better?

Aasimars / Tiefling

You're looking to "win" in PFS?

Pick the character that sings to you. Because you will be more motivated to do better with it than someone's idea of an "IWin" model. PFS isn't the type of campaign where you must munchkin to play, at least not yet.

You have took me wrong. I trying to see what is the better Combo in the selections. Where do you get off with "IWIN"? No such thing in any RPG.

Grand Lodge

Angelic Blooded aasimar +2str, +2cha (no negatives) is great for a paladin.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

there are pretty good combos for all of those...

- base tieflings make great dervish dancing magi.
- IMO divine hunter is worse than a base pally, but a musetouched aasimar would be a great race for it.
- plumekith aasimar are great archery rangers; hungerseed tieflings are great melee rangers. rangers don't get a companion until 4th, need Boon Companion for it to be viable in combat, and have a limited list of choices... if you're looking for a primary combatant with an animal companion you might be better off considering a Mad Dog barbarian?
- there are so many different ways to build a druid that i can't really offer any specific advise on such a general question.

Silver Crusade

It all depends on who you play in a group with. I play a human rogue, who is a good addition to a party for the stealth, but I am by no means going to cut it as a dedicated tank. Nor am I the ideal healer, because of UMD problems. Personally, I would go with Paladin, as you can tank and be a healer, which, in my experience, PFS groups seem to lack. I'ld focus on any dual-role classes, so that you can always contribute to the party.

Will now, I am guessing to go with an Urban Ranger.

I am guessing go as a Tiefling for the choice. Oni-Spawn
(Hungerseed)+2 Str, +2 Wis, –2 Cha

Silver Crusade

That's a great race/class combo!! What's your Ranger combat style? What's your favored community at level 3? Are you gonna put ranks into Disable Device? If so, are you going to be able to Detect Magic? And please please please, pick a dire rat for your companion. Be unique!!

The Exchange

I was thinking of having Quick draw, bow to duel wield scimitars.

I was think of the companion; Ferocious dire Badger? :D

What kind of Combat Style are you looking to go after with your Urban Ranger?

Asking as the Scimitar is usually a poor choice for a ranger, due to having to double up on feats for your off hand. Most rangers I've seen either use a two of the same type light weapons in both hands or a bow.

Where did you put your favored class bonus?
Most people put it into health which would then bring your health up to 12 Hit Points. Health is very important at first level as all it takes is one bad luck die roll and you can end up dead very easy.

If possible, sell some of your misc stuff and get Alchemist Fire and a couple things of Oil. Oil is the poor man Alchemist Fire as it takes a full round to prep it before throwing it. You'll need them for when you face Swarms and you can face swarms as early as 1st level.
