Need multiple decks to run multiple characters of the same type?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

In OP, if I want to play one cleric sometimes and another cleric other times, would I want to have two cleric class decks, one for each cleric? I'm assuming I would. Otherwise the two characters would compete for a small set of desirable boons.

Or in a deck of 110 cards across six adventures, is it possible to supply two characters?

You'll have two characters competing for the same base cards if you start them out at the same time.

But you don't have to have two class decks, I'm hoping. Paizo has put out character sheets for the characters in RotR. I'm hoping that they'll do the same for the class deck characters when they are released. So my hope is that if I am playing two different fighters (from the same class deck) that I can track my cards on a sheet and carry both sheets with my class deck. Pull out the cards for Valeros1 and then for Valeros2 when I play them.

The only time I could see you needing two class decks is if you are playing the same class for two different characters in the same game.

This is just an assumption, but I would think nothing would really keep you from running two different cleric characters using the same deck. It would likely just require bookkeeping. Just be sure to keep deck lists of each of your clerics separately, disassemble the deck of one when you're using the other, and you should be fine.

On that note, has there been any discussion about if we'll be getting PDF character sheets of all 28 characters that will be released within the class decks? I understand that the four characters in each deck is one of the main draws for the products (outside of being required for organized play) and giving those characters' stats away for free may not be desirable, but I really love using the print-out character sheets, having the handy deck list and not having to mark up the original cards and such.

Maybe to preserve the value of the characters within the decks (and to cut down on the number of files you'd need to create), a single PDF character sheet can be released for each class deck which would include the deck list, but everything else would be blank with space to write in skills, powers, and cards list. Just a thought.

That's what I'm thinking also. It will just take some bookkeeping to track the cards in each character. We do that now for multiple characters.

And if there are 7 iconic classes with 4 characters per class then 2 roles per character ... you'll have 28 starter sheets and 56 role sheets. weeeee

Vic said yes there would be PDF sheets. See here.

Do all 28 of those characters have high Charisma?

Thanks everyone.

Yes, I meant running two characters of the same class in one scenario.

It's unlikely you'll be able to do that with just one deck. Since I had only 110 cards to work with in design, there was a lot of strain on the Basic-trait cards you'll need to start play. There aren't 30 Basic-trait cards in any Class Deck.

I'll go past "unlikely" and say "do not try to do that." Even if you could, you'd likely find it annoying, if not crippling, for at least one of the characters.

Correct. And unfortunately, that means we're not going to be able to offer versions of each with boon checklists for RotR, for S&S, and for the class deck itself, because that would mean tripling that... and it would also mean that when we have all 31 class decks we want to have, each new AP would trigger the creation of 400 sheets. So we're going to offer them only with lists for their own class decks, with separate lists for tracking the boons for each AP. That way, each new AP triggers the creation of "only" 34 sheets.

Any chance of getting a generic sheet for each adventure path? Something with the templates from the community use card files on the front left and all the boons from the adventure path on the front right (and back) would do it. That would help with homebrew and transported characters.

EDIT: Or perhaps that is what your last two sentences were saying.

Yep—that's what I meant by "separate lists for tracking the boons for each AP."
