So far, it's Pain in Throat - 1, antibiotics - 0.
At least there is hot coffee to sooth the pain for a few minutes.
I understand your issues with the Battlenet accounts, but the game is a good one.
Which is what makes it even sadder. If they had provided the option of solo play, without the net connection, I probably would have bought it and would still be playing it.
Was just about to type something about "logging out before this storm makes the power blink" when......the power blinked.
Sometimes, I hate being right.

Me too.
(WHY can't I ever be right about the GOOD stuff!?!?) ;)
'Tis Friday! Mayhap I shall journey forth to the Mall and purchase a new pair of shorts at Eddie Bauer. My previous pair, which I purchased before I got married (over nine years ago), if finally wearing down.
Also, I read elsewhere Disney is doing a sequel to The Rocketeer, with a black female in the lead. All I ask is, why? That movie was a box office dud to begin with? Does it really need a sequel? Let alone a sequel probably guaranteed (and deservedly so) to get the New Ghostbusters treatment.
Meh. Whatever. I'm going to the comic book store today, as well. And I'm going to cut my hair.
So there.
Not sure why I keep torturing myself by checking out the Paizo Blogs about the next minis set. I guess it's just me expressing hope that by the time the set is actually released, I'll be in a position to buy it.
In other news, apparently one of my aunts is in town this week visiting her daughter, and she wants to visit with my brother and I (along with out respective families). Should be nice. She was always really cool.
I torture myself with the Cthulhu minis available in their Kickstarter. $400 for the set, and I reely reely want them. However, I cannot justify it. No how, no way.
Picked up the Ultimate Edition Bluray/DVD pack of Batman V Superman yesterday at Walmart. It contains both the theatrical and extended editions of the movie. So I watched the extended edition (just over 3 hours long), and I've got to say - it fills in some of the gaps in the plot nicely, making things clear enough for most non-comic book folk to follow, I think. Most of it basically adds little details to Lex's overarching plot, which was truly worthy of the villain from a comic standpoint. Sadly, the dude playing Lex still comes across as an annoying, pisshead teenager completely off his ADHD meds, making him more like the Joker than Lex, but his plot is definitely worthy of Superman's arch-nemesis.
I never thought Disney would come up with anything more annoying than Sophia the First, then I started seeing commercials for Elena of Avalor. Ye gods!
Of course, lest we forget, there's also PJ Masks. That Catboy is an a*@$*!+.
Seriously, he's a real douche nut.
I know I am losing touch with kid culture when I have absolutely no clue what any of the previous two posts mean
It's a Disney Junior channel thing. The shows are both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it's a 24/7 opportunity keep your kid occupied, even if for just an hour or so. On the other hand, the shows are annoying and make my brain hurt.
As do most shows of that ilk
Another glorious Monday morning.
At least I get to look forward to buying The Killing Joke on Bluray tomorrow.
And, since my brother's wife and kids are out of town for the next two weeks, he mentioned something about going to see Suicide Squad. Even if he ends up not being able to go, I can still go see it myself.
Interesting - I was unaware, until just a few minutes ago, the kid that played Joffrey on Game of Thrones also had a (very) bit part in Reign of Fire.
Had a tire blowout on the Grand Parkway today, just about 1/4 mile or so from my exit. Luckily, it happened as I was passing the exit just before mine, and I was able to pull off into the triangular section between the main lane and the merge lane.
So, now I have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow morning to get a new tire. I might get both rear tires replaced. That's usually the proper thing to do. I'm also going to have them take a look at my turn signal switch. Damned thing keeps intermittently working for the left turn.
I am glad that you are ok, AZ. We are not ready to re-tire you yet.
Well, it's not like it was serious - just a blowout at 70 mph. Nothing I can't handle. To quote the great Dustin Hoffman, "I'm an excellent driver."
Incidentally, until yesterday I haven't had a blowout on the highway in about 20+ years. Last time, I was driving my '83 Camaro. That was a good car.
I might be getting in on the Wrath of the Righteous campaign my brother and his friends have going on. That is, as long as the others are cool with it. These are the same fellows I started Kingmaker with as DM, until real life got in the way. I believe one of them was familiar around these parts upon a time. Maybe he still hangs out in the old Fawtly thread.
Anyway, I've developed two different characters so far, both dwarves:
Number 1 is a karmic monk named Aagwin. I very much modeled him after Oogway the Turtle from Kung Fu Panda, and plan to play him in a similar fashion. Karmic Monk is an archetype from Occult Adventures, which I thought looked interesting and fit the character concept well. That leads to the second character idea.....
Number 2 is a kineticist named Broome (yes, that's a reference and sort of homage). He has the Aether (basic telekinesis/force effect) element focus, which would make him handy around demons, with their resistances to the standard four elemental energies. Plus he's got one attack which can ignore spell resistance. That might come in handy.
I'm leaning towards the monk, myself. It's just a character concept I've had in mind for a good while, and I like the idea. Plus, from talking with my brother, it seems they could maybe use a sturdy combatant who best can serve as a roving protector of all non-martial characters. That would fit this character perfectly, especially since I made his mythic path Guardian.
I might still tweak the character a little, to make him better able to protect others. We'll see.
In reading through Occult Adventures more closely, I came across a Kineticist Archetype called the Elemental Ascetic. Kind of like an attempt to give the Kineticist a good dose of monk flavor. I say "attempt", because reading through it made the phrase "half-assed" come to mind, like they rushed it or something.
Or, maybe it's just piss poor editing. Wouldn't surprise me.
I've got to say, however, I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the old 2E D&D psionic abilities carried over into the Psychic spell list.
Sadly, the chakra stuff seemed cool, but completely useless.
The other day I noticed the Unchained Monk in Hero Lab, so I took another look at it. I actually think I like it better than the core rule book monk. So I remade my character with the unchained monk rules.
One thing I'm trying with this monk character - since he's a follower of Irori, I wanted to have him rely on as few magic items as possible. So far, he's only got about 5 or 6, two of which are potions. One of them is a Handy Haversack (all my characters have one). At 14th level, that's really a task.
I did make sure he bought three manuals/tomes for boosting ability scores. I figure those are perfect for an Irori follower - permanent improvement through study and meditation. Those bonuses can't be taken away.
My kids have been practicing their evil laughs. I'm so proud.
So, I'm sitting on the sofa this morning, and baby girl is laying next to me, with her feet towards me. Out of the blue, she lifts her feet in the air and says "Smell my butt".
Such a dainty flower I am raising.
And now, I have to go administer some discipline. Or rock her in the chair and sing You are my Sunshine.
Right now it's 50/50 which.
I am contemplating firing up the old Campaign Cartographer sometime this week.
Continued with my reinvigorated sense of exercise by going for another walk around the subdivision lake. Made 5 laps around, but then had to cut it short early. There was a need to drop the kids off at the pool, so to speak.
And, yes. That's a classic example of TMI.
Hooked up my old first gen xbox last night, after getting a wild thought about finding a work around for the sticking disc tray. Did a quick internet search and found out there's a small hole beneath the tray which allows you to manually trigger it to open (using a paperclip).
So then I introduced the boy to Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters. After he and his sister were in bed, I treated myself to some Knights of the Old Republic.
Nice warm day. Lots of sunshine. Perfect for walking around the lake several times.
Well, it was a nice day.....
Whelp, my brother and I were going to try and see Suicide Squad together, but our schedules didn't allow it. Which is weird, since I've hardly got anything on my schedule.
So I might try and see it during the day on Friday.
Watched The Killing Joke again. Such an excellent adaptation of one of the greatest Batman stories ever told. Mark Hamill's voice work was brilliant, showing that he's a far better actor than many people give him credit for.
