I don't disagree. We have been dancing to con eds hymns for so long everything else seems like a combination of sorcery and devil worship.

Love him or hate him a lot of people were behind bloombergs wind power idea. It was squashed in the press pretty quick. Which sucks as I live in a natural wind tunnel- one of several in ny.

Well, I have my own opinions on wind power - half of which are too vulgar to be discussed in civilized society. The other half gets into technical and cost/benefit stuff, which usually gives the Gaia worshippers fits and shits.

Then there's the states idiotic stance on Fracking. Best for my blood-pressure and the safety of those around me if I don't go into it any further.

Scarab Sages

On the other hand, I can see why Bloomberg would be so into wind, him being such a pompous windbag.....

Scarab Sages

Pompous windbag - Now, how often do you get to see that phrase used anymore?

Scarab Sages

Speaking of phrases - an old friend of mine, who happens to be a nurse, shared one recently on his Facebook Feed - Urethral Meatoplasty.

I am still shuddering.

the technology for wind power needs to be revamped. It is in bad need of updating, and works best in concert with other sources.

And yeah, no fracking. Sorry. Shrugged shoulders don't go far when it comes to a potential f!&& up of some of the most beautiful land on the east coast(yes, nyers love our green landscape and water quality, contrary to popular belief).

Scarab Sages

You've been listening to the Gaia worshippers too much. Fracking might only ruin the landscape or mess with water quality IF it were unregulated (or poorly regulated). Pennsylvania has had great success with it because the state DEP works closely with the industry, to the benefit of everyone.

Not sure what we're going to do for the 4th of July this weekend.

oh, right, its 4th of July weekend,

that means it will be exactly 3 years since I have met CH, FHDM, Patrixk, BT, Jess, Tordek, TOZ, Taig and you (did I forgett someone? beside BTs lovley familiy that is?)

Huzzah!!!

Double huzzah! I will be going back next year. I have deemed it so

Scarab Sages

I wouldn't mind going back one day. Never going to happen, but I wouldn't mind....

Scarab Sages

Scheduled for a 5-hour work day today, thanks to the 4th of July holiday (we get the 3rd off). The only reason I'm even in the office is because I have to update the project weekly report before Monday.

Typically, I'd do it Monday morning, but I'll have Jury Duty this coming Monday, so....

Scarab Sages

Either way, I won't be here the full 5 hours. I've got too much other stuff to do. Including dropping my P.E. License application off at the post office. Time for a bit of overnighting it!

Scarab Sages

Busy day. Went into work for just a few hours. Then made my way over to the post office to send off my paperwork to the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Then hit half-priced books, quickly followed by the comic book store. Came home and put a load of clothes in the wash, then did a few things around the house. Following this, I went off and hit the cleaners, stopped at the ATM, then hit the drive through at Popeye's for lunch. Came home again, more clothes in the wash, first load in the dryer, then ate lunch. Piddled around the house until the first load was dry, then folded/hung the stuff up and put the second load in. Went off yet again, this time to The Container Store to pick up some more minis storage. Got home and organized minis until the wife came home. By then the second batch of clothes was ready to be hung up and/or folded. Finally, we went and picked up the kids from daycare, which started the typical evening routine.

Scarab Sages

Tonight, I'm thinking I may drink a beer or three and watch and old Ray Harryhausen movie.

Scarab Sages

I did as my previous post suggested I might. Sadly, I fell asleep near the end of the movie and did not see the end of the climactic battle between our hero and the villain.

Not to mention, when I finally woke up and went to bed, it was 1:30 in the morning.

Scarab Sages

Getting older sucks.

Scarab Sages

Not sure what we're going to do this weekend. Probably at least take the kids to the pool ( for real, not the euphemism), grill some stuff, maybe fireworks.

Scarab Sages

Also, a@*+@!@s are the reasons we can't have nice things.

Scarab Sages

Ugh!

Scarab Sages

I must devise some clever ruse which will allow me to once again make my way to The Container Store. Daddy needs some (more) new storage cases!

Scarab Sages

I do at least have the seed of a plan. Now, I must guide it. Nuture it.

Happy Independence Day!

I have a pork shoulder going on hour 12 in the oven. Once I decide to get up and yank it out I think I'm going to bake some cookies because I'm cool like that. Besides, I have to go in for a 16-hour marathon tonight and deal with the myriad pugnacious drunks, addicts, and mental patients the streets of holiday Cape Cod will inevitably puke up into the hospital.

I think a plate of oatmeal chocolate chip will improve that scenario.

Scarab Sages

Whoa, dude! Great minds thinking alike! I shall also be cooking up some pork today. I'll be putting a stuffed pork loin in the smoker later today.

Scarab Sages

And, yes, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

Scarab Sages

I'm really jonesing for some Pathfinder gaming.

I went with Nutella chocolate chip. I was low on butter and those oatmeal choc chip ones take two sticks to make.

The pork came out splendid. There was even enough trim pieces for the puppies to get a bowl apiece, saving me $4 in canned dog food. That's a win-win right there.

Now I just need to get through the next 14 hours ...

Scarab Sages

My pork loin came out excellent. And the sausage that didn't get stuffed into the loin ended up on my grill with the sweet corn. Throw in some baked potatoes - BAM!!! - a nice, manly, American dinner!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

Scarab Sages

And I think I might finish the day off with a nice, patriotic movie. Maybe the Green Berets.

Scarab Sages

New shoes!!!!

Scarab Sages

And I've nearly got all my minis reorganized.

Scarab Sages

Jury Duty this morning. Ah well, at least it's a break in the weekday routine. I'm not particularly worried about getting selected. They usually hate engineers sitting on a jury.

Scarab Sages

Now to read up on the available information necessary for my day of service. With any luck, I can check in later to see if the Paizo folks will do me a solid, or express their utter contempt for my delicate emotional state.

It's jury dury. Jury duty is fun! At least it is in brooklyn.

Scarab Sages

Oh, I actually don't mind. And the timing is fortuitous, in that my project has slowed down and I would have otherwise need to start finding other things to do at work. This at least gives me another day before having to do that.

Scarab Sages

That reminds me, I've got to make an appointment at the dentist's office to get my teeth cleaned.

Scarab Sages

I'm tempted to order something from Paizo or Amazon while I'm waiting. Great wifi signal here in the Jury Plaza.

Scarab Sages

Maybe some more minis......

Scarab Sages

Or a movie. Or movies? I've been wanting to get some of the Ray Harryhausen classics on Bluray.....

Minis might be better. There are a few I would like to have multiples of.....

Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

F$&& you Tuesday. For no particular reason.

Scarab Sages

I was in a good mood when I got to work. I was even contemplating serenading my co-workers. Somewhere in between my first and second cups of coffee, however, I have become sad.

Scarab Sages

Or Sad-ish, maybe?

Scarab Sages

At the very least, indifferent to the joys of life.

saturday was the hottest day ever measured here in Hessia 39*C / 102 F

a local supermarket had a sign at the door: 5 Minutes in the cold storage:2€

Where I grew up, we called a summer day like that....Monday. Or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, etc.......

Scarab Sages

Big meeting later today. Other than that, my project is slowing down enough I'll have to start looking for a new one.

Scarab Sages

This could be a huzzah! Or, maybe not. Only time will tell.

Scarab Sages

Been reading the new Dave Gross Pathfindrr novel. It's been pretty entertaining, as usual.
