Mmmmm......smoked ribs.

Scarab Sages

Well, that was a rather busy weekend. And today looks to be no different.

Scarab Sages

Apparently, baby girl woke the wife up around 1:00 am to go potty.

Scarab Sages

Ho hum.

Scarab Sages

Didn't even bother watching Super Girl last night. I think I'm pretty much done with the show. It just wasn't entertaining me.

Scarab Sages

Hopefully, the writers will eventually bring that show into the main DCTV Universe, then transfer Martian Manhunter over to Flash (or even give him his own show).

Hope you're hanging in there brother!

My school is done and I'm updating after a self-imposed hiatus to concentrate on finals

I'll still be busy job hunting, but that's a different kind of busyness than doing finals.

But, I'm sure you know that.

Positive vibrations on finding a job! Gas prices seem to be creeping up again, so ... yay?

It's an ill wind that doesn't blow somebody some good.

Scarab Sages

Apparently, baby girl found one of her rogue mittens in her cubby at school yesterday. So, of course, she was wearing it when we got there, and wore it again this morning.

On this, I am not one to criticize.

Scarab Sages

Went to bed last night thinking on all the craziness happening in the Flash TV show. Oddly, it produced a very sound night's sleep.

Scarab Sages

Armadillo in the backyard this morning. It was rooting around under one of the bird feeders. Came in through a gap under the fence. Looks like it's mothball time.

Scarab Sages

Reminds me of a time back in the day. An armadillo had taken up residence under our house. So, one night my brother and I saw it out in the middle of the front half of the lawn, and decided to chase it. Thankfully, we did not catch it.

Later, my dad dumped mothballs down each of the holes it had dug under our slab. After we were sure it was gone, we filled in the holes.

Scarab Sages

The boy would have been excited to see it.

Scarab Sages

Baby girl has developed the habit of occasionally wanting to sleep behind the chair in the corner of her room. She is an odd child.

Scarab Sages

Apparently, less than 5% of people with Cystic Fibrosis are over the age of 40. I am privileged to know one of them. He is a source of constant inspiration to me.

Scarab Sages

The statistic was one he shared this morning. Considering he's actually over 50, I would bet money the percentage he's in is even smaller.

Scarab Sages

Clearly, some people need to get a life. And coming from me, that's saying something.

Scarab Sages

On certain occasions, I long for the "old days" of the Paizo boards. Back when folks like Sebastian, the Professor, and some others were around.

Of course, the "old days" realy weren't that long ago.

Losers!

Scarab Sages

Still one of my favorite aliases.

Along with this one....

You know, all those aliases I use to engage in passive-aggressive sock-puppetry.

Although, I'm pretty sure being able to hover the mouse over an alias name and see who it belongs to kind of defeats the idea of a sock puppet.

Not even sure why I made this one.

This one, on the other hand......

Scarab Sages

I consider each one to be a digital work of art. Quality over quantity, if you would.

Scarab Sages

'Tis a beautiful Saturday morning so far.

Scarab Sages

It seems my effort to keep the armadillo out of my backyard has been successful so far. Although, it has only been one day. Still, after two mornings in a row of seeing the grubby little bastard rooting around in my grass, to not see him is a small victory.

Scarab Sages

'Twas a simple thing. Went to Lowe's. Bought a spray that is marketed as keeping various beasties away. Got home a sprayed it liberally all along the back fence and wherever I could see it had been rooting.

That s@$# is stanky! It smelled so bad, even I didn't want to be back there.

Scarab Sages

I also called the gas company about finally burying the hatch in my backyard that I'm fairly certain is an access point for one of their gas lines. At least, that's what I was told when we first looked at the house. Anyway, they're sending someone out to check it. If it is, I'll ask them to bury it. If it isn't, I'll look into burying it myself.

That will fix a large part of my armadillo problem. There's a few big gaps under the fence around where this access hatch is. That's how it's been getting in and out. Sure it could dig a new hole if we fill those spots in, but he might not feel like it.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, this should be a nice, quiet weekend for us. Nothing special going on, except maybe I'll see about cooking something special for the wife tomorrow for Mother's Day.

Scarab Sages

Turns out, it hasn't been exactly "nice" or "quiet". However, it has been pretty f#*$ing boring.

Scarab Sages

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

Scarab Sages

Also - note to self - on the night before your wife's special day, where she is allowed to sleep in, it might be best to not stay up past midnight only to rise a little after 6 am with the kids.

Scarab Sages

My pleasant wake up this morning consisted of the boy calling for help because he jammed a number 6 puzzle piece onto his finger and couldn't get it off.

Dish soap was his friend.

Scarab Sages

G!~+&&nit! That f@++ing spray I bought at Lowe's appears to not have worked worth a damn. I found a new area of rooted up grass this morning in the backyard. Just to be sure, I went ahead and sprayed more of it, in case I just hadn't put down enough.

It's all good, though. This was just Step 1 of my plan to end the armadillo menace. Step 2 is already in motion, and involves cutting off its currently easy access to my yard.

If all that fails, Step 3 would be to either capture and relocate, or kill and dispose of. I would prefer capture and relocate, of course.

I will happily take the armadillo off you.

If only because it might scare the deer.

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You want him, come get him.

I don't know I WANT him. But I'll happily accept you mailing him to me.

Scarab Sages

That sounds suspiciously not like the path of least resistance.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, no new critter activity to report. And further steps shall be taken today in an effort to ensure it is permanently driven away.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, it looks like it will be a beautiful day (weather wise), and both kids were in cooperative, non-pissy moods this morning. Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

Because sometimes I'm board and other people are annoying a*$&#!@s.

Scarab Sages

I noticed a curious lack of preorder listings for Pathfinder novels. Makes me wonder if they just haven't announced anything recently, or if they may be discontinuing the line.

I'm not entirely sure a discontinuation would bother me all that much.

Scarab Sages

Scratch that. I check the section regarding Pathfinder Tales and found some info about the end of the relationship with Tor and them shopping around for a new publisher.

Well that's unfortunate...

Scarab Sages

Meh. I'm indifferent. My personal opinion is half the books they were putting out weren't worth a damn anyway. I'm weird stubborn when it comes to books, though. I prefer authors I'm more familiar with. Plus, I'd heard from others that some of the writers they've been using just suck balls.

Not to mention I've found it increasingly difficult over the years to get in the mood for sitting down to read. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Scarab Sages

Counting down until the end of the week. If I haven't found a job by Friday, I think we're going to go ahead and not sign the kids up for the summer program at the daycare. It'd just be a waste of money.

The downside of that would be making it more difficult for me, during the summer, to go on interviews and such. And if I manage to find something, I may not be able to start until they go back to school.

Scarab Sages

So, with that in mind, I'd like to give a big, hearty F@~# YOU to the company that laid me off. Bunch of dick heads.

Scarab Sages

Actually, that's probably being too mean to dick heads around the world.

Scarab Sages

Then again, I'm aware of some dick heads who probably deserve it.
