I give you PCU. Especially awesome for the appearance of George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic.

My boy continues to be stubborn about his diet. Some had suggested that his diet might expand during the school year, when he was exposed to so many other kids eating different things. I knew better.
I hate to have to take more drastic measures, but he might leave me with no choice. Might have to cut out any and all candy, cookies, chips, pretzels, etc.

Applied for a job. Got a voicemail saying they wanted some times I would be available today. I called back and left them times, asking if they could let me know about when they'd be calling. Didn't hear back from them. So, now, I guess I just get to sit around all day waiting for them to possibly call.

Watched the new M. Night Shyamalan movie last night, Split. I thought James McAvoy did an excellent job. And the movie itself was pretty decent. There were some weak points in the plot, I think. Overall, however, I thought it one of his better movies in a long time.
The bit at the end, with Bruce Willis' character from Unbreakable, was really cool. I look forward to the promised third movie, with characters from both films. Maybe an epic battle between David Dunn and The Horde.
A bit of interesting potential trivia....

It ended up being a pretty decent Friday. Started off with me wanting to get out of the house because I don't like being her when the cleaning ladies show up. So I decided to run some errands.
First up, I stopped at Total Wine and More to stock up on my current two favorite beers: Beer For Breakfast Stout and Zombie Monkie Porter. While I was there, I engaged in some polite conversation with one of the managers. She informed me they had Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA in stock. Huzzah! Unfortunately, it was a two bottles per person limit (probably a good thing, since it's about $10 per 12 ounce bottle). So I wandered over to customer service to pick up my two bottles.
Next up, I went to Half-Priced Books. Spent a little bit of time looking around, and picked up a nice book on potato recipes for about $6.50. Then I went next door to the comic book store and picked up what was in my folder. Spent about 40 minutes or so just shooting the s~@% with the guys who work there. Turns out it was one dude's last Friday, as he just got his big break/foot in the door with a local game design company. I then mentioned to him I know people who do freelance for Paizo. We also discussed our shared dislike of that little tool Nick Spencer. So that was fun.
Fast forward to yesterday evening. The wife and I took advantage of Parent's Night out to enjoy dinner, some beer, and conversation with my brother and his wife. On the way home, we stopped at Barnes and Noble so I could buy a copy of the 10th Anniversary Edition of American Gods (to which Gaiman added like 12,000 words). The copy I bought was one of the new editions with the Robert McGinnis cover. F%&$ing sweet.

So I've heard lavender is one of the plants you can put around your house to help keep the skeeters away. What's good about that one, in particular, is that everything I've read indicates you don't have to do anything for it to work. Other than the obvious of taking care of them.
With some of these plants, it's the oil they secrete that helps keep the skeeters away. So you actually have to rub that oil onto things to get it to work.
I might go over to Lowe's today and pick up some lavender plants to put by the front and back doors. Only problem with them is they attract bees and wasps. That might make them a no-go.

There is a possible alternative. This thing Bed Bath and Beyond sells. It diffuses oils into the air. My brother tried it, and he said it worked somewhat for him, as long as he put in like triple the recommended amount of oil. Only problem is, from reviews, it seems you need to make sure it stays dry. Back porch wouldn't be a problem. Front would be.

So, what we thought was skeeter bites on baby girl may or may not have been. We found what we thought were more of them while giving her a bath last night. My wife, in her infinite wisdom and paranoia decided to rely on her WebMD prowess to diagnose the child with hives and keep her home today.
Of course, after I got back from dropping the boy off, baby girl woke up with hardly a mark on her. So....maybe not anything serious. Wife asked me if we should get her dressed and bring her to school. I told her to knock herself out, that way she could explain her jumping the gun directly.

I'm consistently amazed that my prolonged (and very unwelcome) period of too much free time has not resulted in even more time spent on these boards, posting nonsense. Sadly, I feel it has less to do with me not needing another way to waste my time, and more to do with the unwelcoming vibe I get from the boards these days.
