Need help, player sent to another realm Dm has no plan.

So as the title says, my players are 12th level and a group was hit by a prismatic spray. One player rolled a 7 and failed her will save. I made no plans for this at all. The creature was fey so the random plane I picked was the first world. That having been said the player in question is a fighter and the parties wizard died to a hellfire ray in an earlier fight and also failed his save, thus his soul is trapped in hell.

I need advice what the fighter or party can do to get her back. They have interacted with the first world a few times in prefacing. They resealed the fellnight realm (realm of the fellnight queen module), have fought minions of count ranalc on aiding a first world dragon erranx (dragons unleashed and how the two party members were lost), and traveled once to meet the eldest shyka the many. (One of my players storyline is going to end with him joining/becoming Shyka.)

I hate to make it too convenient and ruin the story, but I also don't want to ruin the players adventure from one failed save. Please ask any questions and give any advice you can please.

I take it you're in Book 4 or 5?

Now is the time you should be laying the seeds for Nyrissa's endgame. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce Nyrissa.

Run a solo adventure for the PC, using Thousandbreaths and Zuddiger's picnic as a guideline. Nyrissa should show up and rescue the PC from danger. At which point she might seduce or geas the PC into retrieving Briar for her. Then send him home via a scroll of planeshift.

DM, as always, has a most excellent idea there.

Alternatively, if you're not ready to introduce the big N, have the "First World" your fighter landed in just be a very verdant, very horrible mockery of the first world in hell! While exploring, your fighter comes across a band of devils going about their eternal torture of a divine servant who, in exchange for being rescued, can tell him the true name of the infernal lordling of this particular realm and knows of a soul (the wizard, of course) that may be able to use this name to force the lordling to send him back to the prime material. If it all works out, the fighter gets home, the wizard's soul is un-damned, and you have a devil who really hates your party in your back pocket just waiting for a special occasion.

Otherwise, from Hellfire Ray:
"Any creature killed by this spell must make a Will saving throw; failure means the creature’s soul is damned to Hell as a burst of brimstone appears around its corpse. A non-evil spellcaster attempting to bring the character back from the dead must make a caster level check (DC equal to 10 plus the slain creature’s level) to succeed; failure means the spellcaster cannot try again for 1 day. Evil spellcasters can raise the slain character normally, without a check."

Sounds like the party should start looking for a powerful divine caster or the nearest cult of lamashtu/rovagug/etc...

Or heck, just an Evil cleric of a Neutral god, like Abadar or Calistra.

Dudemeister you are amazing. They've had nyrissa's name dropped by vordakai and only know her as his enemy. This should make the fighter trust her and sets your change to book 5 perfectly because king I will hear then searching for Briar and that will be the final straw of confirming they are nyrissa's pawns. In fact the fighter is blunt enough she may ask King I to his face when they visit rushlight the first time. (I'm letting them go and not participate during book 4 so book 5 is less suspicious.)

Thanks a ton!

So, the fighter in question in book two was captured by hargulka's army and has a huge hatred of trolls because of it. The party has also had Nyrissa's name dropped by Vordakai. (In my campaign nyrissa needs souls to power her spell to capture the material plane. She captures the souls in jars similar to those found in Vordakai's lair in book 3. Vordakai and Nyrissa are ancient enemies as Vordakai would capture soul to power a reverse of her spell then raise the victims body as his servant.) This fighter landed the killing blow on Vordakai just as our king was considering surrender.

All that said, I had her land in the lair of the misbegotten troll, she fought it for a few rounds in solo combat when Nyrissa teleported in, teleported the fighter and herself away after stunning the troll. They talked for a few minutes where the fighter realized who she was, bragged about killing Vordakai, and thanked her. nyrissa played the part of a beneficiary saving the fighter from the goodness of her heart without accepting a reward. She even offered to send the fighter back without accepting any payment. (The fighter does not know she has been hit with a geas spell.) Thus my fighter is back with my party happily seeking Briar and going to the rushlight tournament in a weeks time to ask each and every noble they meet at the tournament if they have seen such a blade settin the stage for book 5 perfectly.

To top it off, the fighters husband was a captain in brevoy. Just before the campaign he was pursuing bandits into the stolen lands and vanished without a trace. He, his men, and the bandits. In truth he was captured by nyrissa, jarred and used for her plans. The fighter has been searching high and low for any trace. She finally dropped a ton of money to have a "discern location" spell to learn he is in the fable, house on the edge of time, thousand breaths, in the first world.
When she was in thousand breaths she asked nyrissa to her face if nyrissa had ever heard of the house on the edge of time. Nyrissa replied, "I am sorry but I do not leave my piece of this realm often."

My fighter is going to be livid when she learns she was that close.
