Hello all,
I would like to ride a dinosaur. Failing that, I would like to have a character that I can live vicariously through that rides a dinosaur. Is there any way to do this aside from being a small race and taking the beast rider archetype for cavalier or that dinosaur archetype for druid? I am not against these routes at all; it’s just that I already know about them.
Additionally, could anyone point me at magic items to help a mount carry more or ignore difficult terrain? Best of the best option would be riding a T. Rex or a Velociraptor but they are bipeds and those usually don’t make for the best mounts.

Mammoth Rider PrC will give you one, you just need an AC or Mount. Earliest you can take the class though is level 10.

Beastmaster Ranger Archetype opens the entire Druid Companion List which includes dinosaurs. I'm playing it in PFS for a Giant Gecko. Ranger gives you full BaB like a cavalier, Favored Enemy, and more skills then both Cavalier and Druid. You also get more feats (without pre-reqs).
Only problem is you get your companion at level 4.
Other way is to just buy a war-trained Dino from the animal companion and ride it. Only problem is that it does not scale with level so it becomes super squishy not being a companion beyond level 5.

Featherstep Slippers (2000gp) and Muleback Cords (1000gp) should still work on those two.

I am not committing to the destruction of any specific city at this time. Of course, the Lizard (I think I will call her Clever Girl) could have goals of its own and what kind of companion would I be to ignore those?
Mammoth rider comes online a little late to make the concept much fun but the Besatmaster Ranger gets added to the list, even a Beast Rider has to wait until level 4 for a dinosaur.
Thanks for the inputs so far :)

Can animals make use of those items? I thought they didnt have the right "slots" for them. If so than than problem solved, I am good to go.

On my ranger I prepare: Leadblades (yay medium sized lance), Feather step, and resist energy.
I typically do not worry about difficult terrain because I am running on the walls and ceilings (Giant gecko spider climb), Air Walk (via scroll), Fly (via potion), or using Feather Step. I can also use Wheeling charge now and can turn during my charge up to 90 degrees. Allows for smart charging.
Remember that most mounts still have a few natural item slots...increasing the strength of your mount increases the carry capacity.
Also the Feat Boon companion to help bring him up to your Full HD.
M.W studded leather requires 0 feats, has 0 ACP, and does not hinder your Pets speed. Also mithral light armors work but Mithral is expensive.
After your mount gets a 3 int he can understand a single language and can active and use magic items...like IOUN STONES. They can really help.

Animal Archive has an Extra Item Slot feat.

Use your first Animal companion ability increase and take his INT up to a 3. Then he can use certain magic items. Not wands...but minor items like feather step boots that don't require spoken activation. As they can not speak.

Without spending any feats they can use armor, belt, chest, eyes, headband, neck, ring, shoulders, and wrist slots. The belt slot lets him use the heavy load belt or if you're a spellcaster just cast ant haul on him.
They can either spend a feat for boots to use featherstep slippers, or even better bump the int to 3 then take improved unarmed strike and dragonstyle. Lets you charge over terrain AND through friends.

Another way to grab a dino is to grab the beast rider FEAT for orcs and half orcs (yeah, the name is confusing). Taken at level 7 for classes with animal companions or mounts, this feat functions as half of boon companion (recovers 2 effective druid levels) and gives you some new options for animal companions- elephants, rhinos, triceratops, stegosaurus, and pteranodons.
Yeah, you read that last one right: it gives a flying options, and they are dinosaurs (ok, not really, but BAH to your facts; DINOSAURS!!!1).
Oh, and there is the mad dog barbarian archetype, which delays the rage stuff until level 4 in return for a full druid style animal companion. I am pretty sure picking a dinosaur shouldn't be a problem with that.

So, can you ride a T. rex? I mean is it physically capable of bearing a rider, if you have an exotic saddle of course. I've been thinking about having a 20th level conjurer summon up a group of T. rex to serve as mounts for the party, not really all that powerful for that level, but you sure as the Abyss make an impression riding into town.

Riding a mount that's the same size as you may run into some table variation. There's technically no rule against it (its the mount class feature that has to be bigger than you) but no rule for it either.
This means you either need to wait till level 7 and the animal becomes large, be a small race, or turn into something small.

Its not PFS but in my experiance most GMs will stay close to PFS levels of strictness in rules. I am going to try swinging all of my clout to get a Small sized Tiefling by the GM and after that having everything be neat and tidy by the books is probably my best bet. Failing that a pure bred Halfling wouldnt be terrible either. Thats also why the Beast Rider (archetype) looks so appealing, the dinosaur companion come online at the same time as everything else but, for a small sized character, it works out beautifully: start with a wolf and it automatically (evolves? devolves?) switches to T. Rex of ridable size at level four. And again at level 7 you can transmogify your T. Rex straight into a medium sized Velociraptor instead of upping it to a large sized T. Rex.
Velocimon, i choose you! (sorry, seemed appropriate.)

Is the pteranadon both large and strong enough to handle a rider? ...That might be another character, definitely goes into the PC pile. Possibly as an alchemist, for the whole green goblin effect.
Here are its stats. At 7th level, it advances to large size and has 16 STR before you add in the str increases all animal companions get. Those are basically the same stats as a horse (well, the horse advances to 18 base strength, but the point still stands- if you can ride the horse you get as a first level cavalier, then you can ride this flying monstrosity)

@OP Your impending solution seems quite solid. I wish you luck in dinosaur riding.
Yes, there is another way to do it:
Partial list of classes that can ride a pet dinosaur in PFS play: Paladin, Druid, Cleric, Sorcerer, Summoner, Ranger, Inquisitor, others ...
One can play a MEDIUM size PC & ride a LARGE mount. Your LARGE dinosaur mount generally can't go underground or in other tight spaces. However, the feat Narrow Frame largely eliminates this problem.
A small PC on a medium mount occupies one square. A medium PC on a large mount (with Narrow Frame) effectively occupies 2 squares, or 4 squares when they have lots of room. This allows you to squeeze into most crowded indoor spaces, even dungeons. Narrow frame is a lousy approach if you intend to charge, but it can work for other mounted builds.
