As the title says. I'm more interested in flavor and fun than min/maxing. I want to play a witch with the Cartomancer archetype and prestige into harrower. I want the misfortune hex as it fits the lore. Cackle is a must but it doesn't fit the flavor so advice would be great on that. I'll be taking mostly save or suck spells for it.
The character is a sylph adopted by a Variaian family who could not have children of their own, consorted their family harrow which led them to an abandoned child. His harrow is a family airloom and he is unaware he is not human. Taking the weather savvy alternate rational and breeze kissed.
Traits will be adopted, harrow chosen.

I am also looking at this build. I just looking to be a buffer and help where I can.
I think the soothsayer is a good alternative to cackle, as I also don't like cackle just for my flavor reasons, and soothsayer means if only counts down when used which is cool, imo (especially for evil eye). As a buffer I went fortune hex aswell.
My first trait, same as yours. 2nd is agent of chance. Fate's favored would be good if you want to get a lot of luck bonuses and more harrow flavor, that combined with either the two patrons that give divine favor would be good. otherwise just take as many touch spells as you can get and throw them returning mw cards :) Ill have more of a build later, but right now my brain isn't working right.

I'm making one too.
I like your character background. It's cool and gives the character a purpose.
Harrow Chosen is an awesome trait and fits this character perfectly.
Calel101 is right about Soothsayer.
I am going to take it along with the Fortune hex. With this combo, you can 'pre-buff' the entire party with Fortune before you enter a big fight. There are plenty of times in gameplay that you know the big fight is coming in the next room... set that up, sit in the middle of the party, and Cackle away. Everybody gets rerolls!
Agent of Chance is a good trait, but you have to worship Nivi Rombodazzle to take it. Soooo... if you can work that in somehow, great!
Hexes I like for this type of Witch:
Evil Eye, Cackle, Flight, Fortune, Misfortune, Soothsayer, Harrowing Curse (at 10th level)
Feats: Improved Initiative, Spell Focus: Necromancy, Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy, Extra Hex, Spell Penetration
Don't forget you Cackling Hag's Blouse.

I'm also looking at this build. Though misfortune may end up falling out of favor as you hit the harrower class, considering witch hexes use the witch's level for their save DC, not the Harrowers. Unless I am incorrect, that is.
You are not incorrect.
You only get additional spells per day and increased caster level. The save DCs of your hexes do not improve. But, you can still hit them with Evil Eye...

Yeah. So far, with a level 5 build, with a couple of extra hex feats, I've chosen fortune, evil eye, soothsayer and cackle. I agree that a varisian harrower cackling like a hag makes no sense, so I'm re-skinning cackle to be a varisian dance.
Fortune + Soothsayer is nuts. That's my plan with my new Cartomancer too.
It's a nasty 'pre-buff' for a big fight."OK, all set. Nobody make a skill check before you roll initiative!"
I just wish it were more than 1/day.

When a harrower gains a level, she gains new spells per day as if she had also gained a level in a spellcasting class she belonged to before she added the prestige class.(1) She does not, however, gain any other benefits a character of that class would have gained.(2) This essentially means that she adds the level of harrower to the level of whatever other spellcasting class she has.(3)
It's a little messed up, but
(1)Add extra spell per day.(2)No new spells (espeshially sad for sorc, bard etc), hexes, bonus feats, bardic performances, bloodline powers.
(3)Your add your harrower level to your other class level (one of them).
Or, may be, not.
Sorry for necroposting and good luck with blackmailing your GM.
