Hobbun:

Yep. I have a few tables where two tables will be pushed together to get a couple of six-person tables.

Then, I have a really huge table that can seat like 14 people. I'm going to put 6 and a GM at one end, and 4 and GM at the other, leaving a gap between the two groups. At least, that's my plan.

In the evening slots, all I have is the huge 14 person table (which will be two games, but one physical table as described above), and then a separate 4 person table, I think.

Heya, Mark! I just signed up to GM The Confirmation. I get into town at 4:25am, so I shouldn't have any trouble being at Scotty's for 8am. Hopefully I can find a shower somewhere in between. :)

Brent,

Thanks!!! I know there is currently only one player signed up, but it is the only low-level table I have in that slot, so here's hoping!!!

WooT!

Just got the word that the convention support materials are on their way to me, so we'll have some product to hand out to lucky random winners!

(And, keeping my fingers crossed we'll have boons, too!)

OMG, don't call me Mr. Stratton. I only answer to that at work. :) My students don't even call me that!

I too appreciate the work you've put into making this happen. Thank you!

Still have a space open for a player in the morning slot for the 5-9 glories of the past part 1.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Thanks for setting this up Mark!

Grand Lodge 2/5

Was just wondering for the morning slot. The 0-20 has no players yet but the 4-22 table has 5/6 players signed up if the tables could be switched so we don't have to turn someone away since its set up for only 5 people at that table.

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Indianapolis

Edward,

I'll take a look when I get home.

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Indianapolis

Ah, I kept all 3 sessions of the "Glories of the Past" Series at the same table so they don't have to move between games.

So for now, I'm going to keep it where it is. It's possibel there will be a vacancy, it may be possible to squeeze the 6th person into the table, I don't know.

But I want to keep all three sessions of that series at one table. So, for now, it will stay there. We'll see where we are on game day.

Grand Lodge 2/5

Which is drawing closer by the day!

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Indianapolis

Howdy, everyone!

So, we are just 8 days away from our Pre-Gen Con Society Play at Scotty's! I've been working on making tweaks and minor adjustments to the tables, to try to maximize the numbers of players, getting people at the tables they want to be at, etc. In a couple of cases, it's going to make for a couple of very tight seating arrangements. I'm sorry that's the case, but it's the best I can do in trying to balance a whole host of factors.

But, I still need some help: in the 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. slot, there are two tables that are in real trouble.

1. #0-20: King Xeros of old Azlant. Currently, there are no players signed up. Is there anyone interested in this scenario? If not, is there another scenario you might be interested in? There IS a GM.

2. #5-08: The Confirmation. Only 1 player is signed up, and 1 GM.

I need to make sure that BOTH of these tables go off, because otherwise, I will feel obliged to release the tables back to Scotty's, and if I do, I don't know what that will mean for games at those tables the rest of the day. So, please, help me fill these tables!

Other than those two, everything looks good! A few waitlists, and unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to clear them unless people do not show up - I just don't have any more tables.

For those of you who are registered for the event (both GMs and Players), look for an email from me this weekend with sort of a final update, logistic questions, mustering (it shouldn't be a traditional muster, thanks to Warhorn!), etc.

Mark

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Indianapolis

Alrighty, everyone, a few updates!

1. ONE MORE WEEK!

2. King Xeros of old Azlant has been removed from the schedule (no players were signed up), and in its place, a second table of Cairn of Shadows was added to the 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. slot. Currently, there are 7 players signed up for that scenario, and now we can accommodate all 7.

3. There is still only 1 player signed up for the Confirmation. We really need at least two more people to make this table go off, or I'll return it to Scotty's (which will impact us for the entire day potentially.)

4. Today, I walked to Scotty's for lunch (it's about 4 blocks from my office) and, while there, I met with Dave. Though he was clear with me in my meeting with him back in June regarding no outside gaming, I mentioned to him that people were going to see about having gaming outside. He reiterated to me today that there will not be gaming outside. So, out of respect for Dave and for Scotty's, who have graciously set aside quite a bit of space for us to use, I am going to request that we let drop the issue of outside gaming. It isn't going to happen, so I don't see any reason to pursue it with Dave.

5. Sometime before the end of the weekend, I will be sending an email to the GMs and players that are registered regarding our gaming event at Scotty's, so be on the lookout for that!

7 more days! Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, and to meeting some new friends!

-Mark

I am truly appreciative to Dave in letting us play at Scotty's, as well as all the extras they are going out for (dice, t-shirts, Pathfinder menu, etc), but I do wonder why he seems to be so adamant on not gaming outside.

I understand he doesn't want to use up too much table space, but I would think he could take away some tables inside to add some outside.

Again, not trying to sound unappreciative, I really do appreciate everything, but I do wonder why outside is definitively off-limits.

City or state laws that he doesn't want to have to deal with brushing up against limits on would be the first thing that comes to mind.

I didn't ask Dave, because it's immaterial. It's his shop.

But, if I had to guess: I am pretty sure the outside tables get flipped more frequently because they are more than likely used by those stopping by for a few drinks. While some may get food, I suspect that most people who go the dinner route, and thus take more time, are those inside the restautrant. It makes sense from a business perspective, then, to limit our gaming to the indoor tables.

But, whatever the reason, it doesn't matter. We have 21 tables of gaming inside over the coruse of the day, and I'm happy about that. If the cost for that is to have no gaming outside, I'm okay with that, too.

And as an organizer, I can tell you that having tables outside is just one more thing I need to manage. What if the weather were to turn bad? Now I have a game that potentially has no table.

No, in the bigger scheme of thigs, this makes total sense to me.

5/5

Did you mention that people are willing to PAY whatever he wants to sit outside? I'm guessing not.

Kyle Baird wrote:

Just speaking from personal experience, he doesn't care. He's pretty firm on the no gaming outside, and always has been.

Let's work with Mark on this one. Organizing Scotty's isn't easy. If we all follow the rules, they will want us back year after year. If we are jerks and sit outside even though we've been told not to...then we are jerks.

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Indianapolis

I can only say, to Kyle and others who wish to play outside, that I am sorry I could not accommodate your request.

I have done my best to organize these 21 tables, in a venue that has, for years, been far more generous to us than others would have been. If my best hasn't met your expectations, or those of others, I am sorry. I have tried to accommodate every request, and most I have been able to do. I apologize that I was unable to accommodate this one.

Mark, it makes no difference to me, I can game inside just as easily. I only asked because it seemed Dave took such an adamant position on it. If it was more of a casual response of “Oh, I normally don’t have a problem in you using the outside tables, but today I have a party that want them. Sorry.” (or insert any other reason).

But that he took such a strong stance on no gaming outside, I was just curious why that was the case.

5/5

Great job on making this happen Mark!!

4/5

I'm not too bent on the no outside policy...it's his policy and I'm cool with it. however if he could give us a bigger table...just for one slot...

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Indianapolis

Well, there is one table that seats 14, I think, and I'm putting 2 6 person games there. The booths I am only seating 4 players plus a GM. We have some tables that are pushed together, so I am putting 6 at those - those might be a tad snug, but not like trying to put 6 in a booth, I don't think.

Mark,

I just signed up to help GM in the 5-9 slot, and THEN read that you have few tables. Can you fit another GM in?

Well, two years ago I played a six player game in one of the booths... It was... cozy, especially since the hotel wouldn't let us check out bags so the GM and I had all of our crap with us. Ugh. ;) Actually it was with the same character I'm playing this year too.

Kent:

The only GM I may need right now is in the 8 a.m. slot, and I think someone may be taking that, but as of this morning, no one had signed up yet.

Eric:
I figure having 6 people at tables (instead of booths) will be slightly more comfortable, but I did not put 6 people in booths. It's gonna be a close fit all the way around, but I've tried to manage it as best I could.

I've withdrawn from the 5 o'clock game of Wrath of the Accursed because it is looking like I will probably need to send the time painting minis that just arrived in the mail for my season 6 scenario, and it's only fair to let the next person on the list know sooner rather than later.

So, Jack Brown, you are off the wait list. Enjoy!

I hope to see some of you great people in the con proper.

Been hoping that I'd get the chance to play this. And to get another chance to play with Pirate Rob... and to meet Carlos Robledo (and thank both of them for all the amazing work they've done on the shared drive)! I am sure my road to three stars would not have been as easy as it was without them (see! a new shiny by my name!)

Plus, as a bonus, I get to meet 5 other PFSer!

Now, the challenge to finish in 4 hours. Wow... I am not sure I've finished to many that quickly. 5-6 hours is the norm around here.

Ok, Jack, stop rubbing it in. I already felt bad enough about giving up the seat just to paint some damn robots. :)
