So is sword scion legal?

The additionall resources isn't exactly cllearr as the format for what is legal and what is not legal changes throughout the document.

I believe not. It is a campaign trait.

You should probably state when asking questions like that what sword scion is and where its from.

So Sword Scion (campaign trait) from Kingmaker Campaign.

This is not legal as 1) I don't believe any campaign traits are legal, and more importantly 2) according to the additional resources only a few animal companions are legal from Kingmaker, nothing else.

Hope this helps :)

EDIT: Ugh, Ninja'ed in my own timezone by the Big (Wolfy) Guy!

Thanks

Generally speaking, nothing is legal unless Additional Resources states it is.

It's simply quicker and easier than assuming that everything is legal to begin with.

Although I completely agree with this, I think Umbracorvus was more having a difficulty with the difference in format.

ie for most products it has "This is legal, this is not", or else "This is legal, everything else is not" etc.

For the campaigns it just lists certain parts of them, it doesnt mention if that's the list of legal or illegal things. I understand it to be the legal stuff, but I get where Umbra was having some confusion.

Archives of nethys linky does a good job of keeping track of pfs legality. You see that white circle with the funny looking X next to the weapons? Thats the glyph of the open road, symbol of the pathfinder society. Means its PFS legal.

Or, just read Additional Resources and actually see the words which appear there.

1.) Find the source of the content.
2.) Find whether that source appears in Additional Resources.
3.) Read what it says! If it says "X, Y, and Z are legal," then Q is not legal. If it says "Everything in this book is legal, except A, B, and C," then Q is legal.
4.) ????
5.) Profit!

Actualy, the thing to remember about Additional Resources is that, for most products, it is a white list, listing what is legal from the source.

For the rulebooks, however, like the CRB, ARG, etc., it is a blacklist, showing what is NOT legal from those books.

Note that can and have included items for use, either for the individual PC, or for the player's whole stable, that are listed as not legal, or not listed as legal, in the Additional Resources.

Example:
For an individual PC, there are a couple of chronicles that open up additional Animal Companion options.

For a player's whole stable, there is at least one chronicle that opens up a wizard archetype that is otherwise not legal, for new PCs for that player.
