I'm considering the next character to play alongside my fiancee, and since I want to focus on support, I'm looking at making a Summoner whose eidolon is a master of mental skills. He would put almost all of his evolutions into either stat bumps to Int, or Skilled for the +8. Of course, he would be only mediocre in combat, but with my Summoner tossing out haste and lesser evolution surge to pick up Grab, he should still be able to hold his own. Here's what I have so far:

Oread Summoner (Shaitan Binder)
1: Extra Evolution
3: Improved Initiative
5: Extra Evolution

Biped Eidolon (extra +2 from archetype to Int)
1: Skilled x4, Weapon Focus (claws)
2: Skilled
3: Skilled, Power Attack
4: Ability Increase (Int)
5: Int +1, Skilled x2
6: Skilled -2, Ability Increase (Int), Cosmopolitan (for more class skills)

...and so on. I'd probably start with Knowledge (arcana and planes) and Perception and Sense Motive at first level (+11 for the Int skills, +12 for the Wis), then expand to Knowledge (history and dungeoneering) and Linguistics, then Knowledge (religion and local).

Any thoughts or advice?

Make it look like a big catapillar with a hookah.... ala alice in wonderland.

Scarab Sages

My Summoner's Eidolon does some of this (though not to the extent you're doing) - he's her personal tutor in heretical/heterodox/"forbidden" planar and religious lore. I keep his ranks in Knowledge (Planes) and Knowledge (Religion) maximized, his Intelligence has reached 10 between level advancement and an Increased Intelligence evolution, and next level, I'm going to take that Evolution again to make it 12. He's also her flying mount, and his attacks are white-hot.

One of the best moments they've had was near the end of "The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment," where

Spoiler:
we were visiting a temple of Korada, and we sat in on the sermon. The resident priest started preaching things about What Dreams May Come that were...simply wrong, and Naghamadi suddenly jerked up and started throwing a scholarly fit over all that the priest was getting wrong. So you've got a sermon in this celestial temple being rudely interrupted by something that looks like a sleeker version of one of the sandworms from Beetlejuice, all eyes suddenly of the two of us, and my character telling the priest on his podium: "Pardon me, but the protean entity I summoned up from the depths of the Maelstrom (or possibly Abyss) to teach me heterodox lore says you're wrong...."
It turned out the priest was actually one of those fly-headed infiltrator-demons.

Sadly, it has to be a biped for the Shaitan Binder archetype.

Doesn't mean you can't add more arms and legs...

Only one thought: call it Dexter. Pokey Dexter.

Seriously though - make sure to abuse it for monster knowledge check at every opportunity and then some!
