Calling all Pathfinder PIRATES! If your campaign ever even THINKS about going near the sea, you are going to be very interested in this collection of magic items, the Treasury of the Fleet! Besides, who doesn't like LOOT?

And here is the second SUMMER SPECTACULAR preview, showing off the delightful cover for the product, discussing the merits of including gunpowder in a pirate campaign, and giving you a free bonus item preview: THE GOLDEN GUN!

Wouldn't heating it for a molten reservoir de-cold the iron?
Hey, it's magic. ;)
Seriously, though, I have no ranks in Knowledge(metalwork), so I couldn't say. I suppose it depends on what the main factor is that makes it effective against certain creature types. Is it the forging process (part of the process being minimal heat)? Or the metal itself? *shrug*
Anyhoo, Treasury of the Fleet! :)

Looks cool.
Just one small thing for the Legendary team: some of the lighter colors for the fonts don't show up very well against a white background in the store & blog. In fact, it actually kind of hurt my eyes trying to read it. (I must be getting old...) I *do* like that you use color to 'call things out', but might there be some way to set a different background hue so that it's easier to read?

Absolutely possible. I just figured I should use "gold" for the GOLDEN GUN! Perhaps I should've put the paragraph in bold as well, as bold gold probably would've showed up better.
Duly noted for the next preview, which should be going up this afternoon!

Time for our third preview for the SUMMER SPECTACULAR, and this time it's all about the monsters! The fun thing about mythic monsters is that you don't need to run a mythic campaign to use them. Heck, your players may have no idea these monsters are "mythic." All they'll know is that they are an awful lot nastier than they were expecting, with some downright dirty tricks that make them a memorable challenge. Flat out, these are some SPECTACULAR monsters. Thanks to Michael Jaecks for making them look so good!

Yay Mythic Stirge:)
That was one I wrote up. I must confess, I've always had a bit of a phobia about stirges in D&D. Maybe it was the illustration in the 1st Ed Monster Manual, with a guy bleeding out with stirges all over him, and he's feebly trying to pull them off, or maybe the cave full of stirges in Keep on the Borderlands. I became a bit obsessive about trying to make sure my PCs had some kind of adequate stirge defense or a cloudkill scroll or something around. I was NOT going down like that. Something about stirges just gave me the heebie-jeebies.
Or maybe it was going camping a lot as a kid and becoming very familiar with the mosquito. :)
Either way, I was very tickled to write them up for the book. Maybe we'll do our in-depth look tomorrow at the stirge. Just to show again that "mythic monsters" don't have to be 50-foot-tall giant fire apocalypse demons. The little guys can be mythic too!

Heh. If I ever make it that far out west, I could talk your ear off with stories of PC deaths due to Stirges !
(my own, tragically, and those of players where I'd GM'd, humorously. Weird how it looks different depending on which side of the screen you're on...)Jason Nelson RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4; Contributor; Publisher, Legendary Games |
I thought Fenrir Wolf and Midgard Serpent won the voting in the kickstarter. Are they only going to be in the big bestiary and not the individual product? Also will the warp wolves have stats for a troop version?
We made a mistake in clarity in posting up magical beasts, in that we posted up FOUR new creatures, which was supposed to be that we would do ONE of them, as we do for every one of the Mythic Monsters series (aside from Mounts). Here's the relevant text from Kickstarter update #55 where we posted up the magical beasts book:
We actually have several candidates for the new creature (it's far enough out on our production schedule that I hadn't made a final decision). Feel free to vote for any of these and we'll see which one you like the best:
Fenris Wolf (CR really high) - From Norse mythology.
Jormungandr the Midgard Serpent (CR even higher) - From Norse mythology.
Warpwolf (CR 5/MR 2) - These shadowy hounds exist simultaneously in several realities, constantly displacing themselves in space and time. Distantly related to blink dogs but mortal enemies of their kin, even a lone warpwolf seems almost a pack unto itself as it attacks from every direction at once.
Warpwolf pack (new creature) (CR 12/MR 5) - An actual pack of warpwolves using the troop subtype.
We did state clearly at that point that we were only going to do one of the proposed new monster ideas, but ironically three (not including the pack of warpwolves) ended up in the top 4 vote-getters, which left us a bit of a dilemma. People were clearly interested in all of them, but how to fit them in, but we really only had room for one. And when I posted up the leading vote-getters shortly before the polls closed, they all showed up on there.
The final choice among the new monsters ended up as the base warpwolf, and the other 3 top magical beasts were the basilisk, bulette, and tarrasque (which is actually listed with the wrong CR - it should be CR 30/MR 10). You'll also notice the tarrasque is not the list of creatures in this product, along with the two Norse Loki-spawn.
So where did they go? Let's just say we have something special planned for these monsters of excessive and exceptional largeness, which we'll be revealing not too far down the road. Convenient that we're doing a series of previews right now, isn't it? :)

New update UP - BAD DOG!!
Just in case you were wondering what in the world a warpwolf really was!
Back to pirate-land (well, sea) tomorrow!

Wow, the write up looks really cool (and brings back fond memories of there-not-there cats and winking hounds)... Is there an image I'm not seeing? In the middle of the page it says "Olympus Digital Camera"...
Whatever. Can't wait to get my hands on this one!
(which may be tricky, if they keep getting shuffled back and forth between worlds...)

That was preview #6. Tomorrow is LUCKY #7. I can guarantee that you will be feeling very lucky when you read what's coming tomorrow. :)

Any ETA on Ultimate War?
Last I'd seen from Jason, Ultimate War was back on the front burner for him, but he hadn't set a definitive delivery date yet. Regardless, he fully intends to prioritize that one. Most of the stuff he's updating here are things that were already in the hopper and just now coming out of the chute. Why the larger delay on Ultimate War when it was announced so long ago? I know Jason had indicated elsewhere that he needed time to pull away from it for a bit and regather his creative juices, since he wants it to be as complete a resource as Ultimate Rulership and Ultimate Battle. Rest assured, it'll rock when it comes out. And we'll be trumpeting its availability to one and all.

I don't mean to be overly critical but I've found another missing monster. Fairytale creatures claims to include a mythic bandersnatch but at least my copy contains no such beast.
Ask and ye shall receive! The errant beast has been found and will be returned to proper captivity soon. Meanwhile, you can view him in all his frumious glory right here while we get the corrections in order for the product files.

Woo-hoo! Looks like it’ll be worth the wait. I wasn’t expecting the aerial warfare stuff so that’s another method to terrorize/increase the fun for my PCs. That artwork is pretty cool too. Thanks for getting over the line on this one.
Cheers

Will Ultimate War's aerial rules be compatable with Companions of the Firmament?
Yes and no. The aerial combat rules operate on the same level of abstraction as the mass combat rules in Ultimate Battle and the Ultimate Campaign hardback, so the level of granularity you see in Companions or even just in regular Pathfinder movement and combat rules don't really play a role.
HOWEVER, anything with standard Pathfinder rules can be translated into a mass combat format, whether it's from an official source or a 3PP product like Companions, so whatever you create with the excellent stuff in Companions should be translatable into what you need for mass combat.

It's a good question. We certainly have a lot of folks who were involved in that AP, but so far we've been trying to catch up to all the stuff we never quite finished for the prior APs. I happen to be a big fan of Egypt stuff, and Osirion: Land of the Pharaohs was one of the first products I did for Paizo post Superstar (along with Todd Stewart, also an LG regular).
The short answer is that there's nothing on the schedule for it RIGHT NOW, but there is some interest in getting back to it a bit down the road after we've gotten through the big stuff on our plate at the moment.
