Swarms and Webs

Rules Questions

Okay, hypothetical situation:

A wizard is walking down a corridor and sees a swarm of centipedes ahead. Quick as his old-man greybeard reflexes will allow our wizardly friend casts a web spell into the area of the swarm.

What happens?

Per the rules, the swarm would make a saving throw, if they failed they would normally be considered Grappled but since Swarms are immune the the Grappled condition it would not effect them. Their movement would be impacted, as per the rules on "Difficult Terrain" but otherwise they would continue their attack.

So strands of webbing sticky enough to hold an ogre, the design of which comes from a trap designed to capture insects... can't stop bugs.

go figure, the Swarm subtype is immune to the Grappled condition & the Web spell causes the sticky part by giving the grappled condition...

That is correct. I am guessing the logical answer is that the holes are big enough that most of the insects get through, if you want to go with logic, but really it is just because that is how the game rules work.

But at least another pc might light the web on fire while the swarm is in the webbed squares. It's not much but at least 2d4*1.5
