Variant Weapon Proficiencies

Advice

Yesterday evening one of the people I played with at my table was playing an Inquisitor of Ragathiel, the Empyreal Lord. Ragathiel's favored weapon is the Bastard Sword. Is the class granted weapon proficiency for this character an exotic or martial weapon proficiency?

I believe this would fall under the ruling for the Tengu sword training trait which is gaining proficiency with a bastard sword allows the use of it with one hand.

This isn't a PFS question; I've flagged it to be moved somewhere more appropriate.

Having said that, a bastard sword is listed as an exotic one-handed melee weapon, so that's the proficiency that would be granted.

Shadow Lodge

The only way to be proficient with using a bastard sword two-handed but NOT one-handed is to have proficiency with ALL martial weapons but NOT have a specific proficiency with bastard swords; gaining a specific proficiency for a specific weapon means you are proficient with them, in all their intended forms of use.

I suppose if something explicitly called out that it granted proficiency with bastards swords, but only when used two-handed, it would be an exception, but I've yet to see anything that does so.

I flagged the OP as well, but the answer is HERE.

Sorry, I really should have checked first
