Phaeros, a settlement of The Seventh Veil, is recruiting companies interested in managing Points of Interest and Outposts, and individuals who wish to become citizens.

Location: Hex Coordinates [00, 17]
Alignment: True Neutral
Government: Oligarchy/Council/Citizens
Membership Policy: Approved*

*:
Based on nomenclature from the Goblinworks Blog Put It in Writing, new members must be approved by vote or by a designated authority.

Signatory of the Roseblood Accord

Mission: To provide the highest level of training for all roles, and to make that training available to friends and allies.

Phaeros is envisioned as a university town. As such, we recognize that we must rely on good relations with our neighbors to satisfy our members’ needs for access to crafting facilities and markets. We are also embracing the need to have a reasonably high minimum Reputation requirement in order to qualify for these advanced training facilities, and the need to have high Development Indexes in order to afford them.

Government: The Stewards of The Seventh Veil will govern Phaeros as an oligarchy with significant community involvement in decision making. [Depending on the implementation of future game mechanics, some settlement management options may be under the direct control of the Phaeros Council, or of the citizens of Phaeros.]

The Phaeros Council will consist of a representative from each Sponsored Company that chooses to appoint one, and a representative elected by the citizens of Phaeros, and will have a significant role in settlement management. We want to emphasize our commitment to the principles of good governance and giving Sponsored Companies and citizens a reason to feel invested in Phaeros.

Location: The Seventh Veil has a long-standing alliance with The Empyrean Order. When each of us won a Settlement in the first Land Rush, we coordinated our selections with an eye towards securing a defensible location with a variety of resources. We have established a strong presence in and around the southeast mountains with the ability to control strategic choke points into an area of the map that will be otherwise inaccessible until the map expands. We have very friendly relations with the other Settlements in this area, and with many others across the map.

If you are interested in operating a Point of Interest or Outpost for Phaeros, in becoming a citizen of Phaeros, or have any questions, then post a response below, contact DeciusBrutus, Nihimon, Skwiziks, or Valkenr via private message on these forums, or register on our website

If you're already registered, go to the Application Forms and apply for Phaeros Sponsorship.

An odd, yellow, goat-drawn vardo slowly makes its way down an abandoned road towards the great university town of Phaeros. As the wagon draws nearer to the towering city gates it suddenly comes to a halt and out the wagon's tiny side window pops a very lively, yet very old crone.

"Would ye looky there Goaty, home sweet home! Oh, what a glorious sight she be! Just think all the magic we be a learnin' and the evil witchy-witches we be 'a burnin'"

<pulls out her enormous pipe and takes a puff>

The Echo Woodsmen are pleased to call Phaeros their future home. A place of learning, where wonders are studied and mysteries unraveled. Come join us and live in the first university town in Pathfinder Online. :)

Come join us in Phaeros. We're a friendly bunch (most of the time) and we like to get along with each other. We've got strong allies in the region and will eventually support most roles as the premier 'University' type Settlement.

And the greatest benefit of all, you get to play alongside me. Priceless.

As some of you may have noticed, we have a rather grandiose Mission that may not ever be practical. However unattainable, it will remain our goal. On a more practical level, we will begin by focusing on Wizard, Rogue, and Aristocrat training, and on the Civilization Development Index.

With all the potential upheaval that might occur during the Land Rush - none of us yet know who will be where after Week 10 - we also want to highlight the unique position afforded by the coordinated efforts of The Seventh Veil and The Empyrean Order. Together, we are in a very strong position to control the only two choke points leading out of the Croplands in the southeast corner of the map. Not only is this area likely to be relatively free of the ravages of War, it is also likely to be one of the safest areas on the map to try your hand at building and managing a POI, or even a Settlement if that option is available before the map expands. It is important to note that our Settlement locations are guaranteed; we will not lose our spots regardless of what happens in this Land Rush.

The Seventh Veil has a long history of supporting others in their goals, rather than trying to subjugate them to our own (we expect we'll have our hands full for a long time just trying to avoid being burned to the ground*). We intend to continue this tradition by working to help our friends and allies develop their own Settlements and forming a powerful, diverse Nation.

*:
We are very aware this is a possibility, and chose to pay homage by selecting a Settlement name meant to evoke thoughts of the Library of Alexandria - the burning of which was the greatest destruction of civilization in classical antiquity.

If you plan to run your own POI, please consider making Phaeros your home and gaining access to one of the largest and safest early-game areas on the map.

If you plan to eventually try to found your own Settlement, please consider working with a guild with a proven record of helping others achieve their Settlement goals while making no demands for them to submit to our rule.

The Seventh Veil is now hosting Live Streams of Alpha. We have a handful of very active Alpha players who stream frequently, and others can set up live streams through the site as well. While watching the live streams, hop on to our TeamSpeak server and hang out with the people playing. Ask questions, comment on things you see in the game, and get to know the people who will call Phaeros their home.

Others can link their streams. I can see people misunderstanding and thinking that we are hosting our own streaming service.

Ah yes, thanks for the clarification.

Sounds like there will be lots of parties and alcohol when people aren't busying training!

More University of Bologna, less UC Santa Barbara :)

I can't remember who said it, but Phaeros will be like the city that hosted the Library of Alexander. But hopefully without the burning down situation.

All that knowledge lost, a true shame.

Now is the best time to get involved. There are already several really great looking and diverse groups forming within the Seventh Veil and all sponsored by Phaeros. The Echo Woodsmen, The Grey Guard, Frozen Fingers, and a few other groups that haven't made formal announcements yet (including a mining group and an all-gnome group, among others). If you have your own group you can maintain autonomy and join Phaeros, or The Seventh Veil, and become part of this fantastic community.

So, if you’re a smaller guild, nothing is going to mysteriously happen that all of the guilds between you and the bottom of the board are going to go away. You need to make some choices, you need to contact some people. Post on the forums. If you post on the forums and say “Hey, we’re a company of 5 dudes. We want to join a bigger Settlement. We’re Neutral Good. We want to do this.” – somebody’s going to bite.

Hey, companies of 5 dudes. We want you to join our settlement. We already have reciprocal training agreements that cover all roles, so we can help your entire group participate, whatever your playstyle.

If your company is interested in participating in the War of Towers, rest assured that we would greatly welcome more assistance with taking and keeping an estimated 18 total towers, all across the map.

One of the most exciting things about being a member of Phaeros in terms of game mechanics is the idea that I'll be able to train anything I want at my home settlement and will not be boxed into a specific role or couple of roles. As a result, companies who are sponsored by Phaeros or our nearby allies need not have their members worry about being forced to play something they might not want to just so that they will be able to play with their friends.

If your group is diverse in desired roles or play styles, Phaeros is one of the few places that will be able to offer you a place to live where everyone can play what they want and how they want. The True Neutral alignment only adds to that - we will be able to support 5 alignments, as many or more than any other settlement.

Dwarves and Gnomes needed for the Gnarf Bowling League.

Gnomes will take the position of pins while dwarves will take the position as the balls. The dwarf will be 'thrown' into the gnome pins. Pay is all you can drink on nights of games.

Phaeros is full of friendly people who value knowledge and camaraderie. We're committed to positive game play and to working together as well as with others for mutual benefit. Whether you're unaffiliated or a member of a small group looking for a home settlement, I recommend hopping onto our TeamSpeak server and getting to know everyone.

You do not like to obey or to give orders? You do not want to be judged on your decisions? You hate drama? You don't intend to sell your soul only to be in the powers that be? You already got a life? You like taking your time? You want to pursue your own goals quietly? You are able to have fun without it is at the expense of someone else? You want to remain in control of your destiny? You like reading questions? You wonder why Fult continue asking silly questions? You did not conclude yet Fult is big oaf?

Fult can tell by your nodding that there is something special in you that will interest the citizens of Phaeros. Huh, huh !! Meet Phaerites on The Seventh Veil's website and if you like what you see and hear (Perception Skill DC 5), take a few more minutes to explore the town and discover its sub-communities (Perception Skill DC 12). And if you consider joining The Frozen Fingers, you will make Fult really proud.

At the "Inside Pathfinder Online" panel at PaizoCon, I was able to get confirmation from Stephen Cheney (unless I misunderstood) that we will be able to focus almost exclusively on Adventuring Role Training. This is awesome news, and we very much look forward to the hard, meaningful choices we'll have to make.

Bravo !!! You found THE group that aims to bring people around common goals, whatever they are, and which focuses on a participation based on respect for what each person is willing to invest. Fult is sure you don't need to look further. You found a home!

Grey Guards:
The Grey Guard is maintaining the laws and keeping order in the lands in which he or she is charged to protect. Each member is expected to follow The Vow, the Law of the Grey as well as their respective Guardian Code both in letter and in spirit.
