I've always imagined the body recovery as an extraction squad of seekers coming in and asking whatever is holding the pathfinder body if they feel lucky today…
As for hopelessly trapped, many scenarios explicitly give conditions as to what happens when you end up trapped on another plane of existence. Many of those require a price comparable to raise dead. For me it would really depend on the conditions of being trapped, and who/what is trapping you. Being trapped on another plane is probably worse than being held by some Aspis agents, or other things. This would really come up to GM discretion as to what happens.

Never mind. Mike Brock's post—HERE—suggests that you CAN use "body recovery" to free a living PC from capture or imprisonment.
Though, I agree that being trapped on another plane would probably make this more difficult for the rescuers, there aren't limitations given in the guide for body recovery. If it costs 5 prestige to recover a dead body from another plane, I would be comfortable as a GM letting PCs be rescued from another plane for 5 prestige as well. Of course, if a particular scenario has different prestige costs listed then we should use those.
