Land Rush For Week 3

Pathfinder Online

Goblinworks Lead Game Designer

So the big news for this week is Kabal coming from nowhere to place in the top 10. This didn't cause as much disruption as I expected, but it did force Tavenrhold out of F and into J, which forced The Iron Gauntlet out of J and they had to go pretty far down their list to find the next free spot. The Gauntlet managed to hold on to D against Brains and Brawn thanks to their hunker down bonus despite a one person edge to Brains and Brawn, but it is extremely close. Also Agents of Erastil manages to hold on to AC in against Brains and Brawn thanks to their hunker down bonus.

The North West was always interesting if you knew who to ask.

Ch-ch-changes!

Lee, any chance the GoblinWorks leaderboard could be expanded to show the three winners of Land Rush 1 in membership order but not "counted" for the top ten Land Rush 2 spots?

Goblin Squad Member

Interesting, indeed! Sunnfire - your group is really shaking things up! ;)

Maybe I just have a higher benchmark for interesting ;P. It's definitely interesting now!

The Exchange

It looks like the map has these three guilds in different areas then was listed in Lee's post:

The Bastard Sons of Daggermark Q The map shows P
Otium Explorator P The map shows A
Librarians of Doom A The map shows Q

Which one is official

Whoops, the letters were in correct order but the names got out of order when I was comparing them to last week. It should read:

Talonguard (NG) K
Settlement: Golgotha (LE) W
Keepers of the Circle AB
Aragon (CN) X
Ozem's Vigil E
Dagedai Alliance L
Forgeholm B
Hammerfall Z
Kabal F
Thod's Friends V
Tavernhold J
Blackwood Glade Y
The Phoenix Brotherhood O
Freevale I
Elkhaven G
Mystical Awakening C
Les Compagnons AD
Eastern Sun H
Hammerfist Clan M
Brains and Brawn S
Agents of Erastil AC
Reading Between the Lines R
The Gauntlet D
vVv Gaming AA
The Iron Gauntlet U
Golarion Liberators N
Librarians of Doom Q
The Bastard Sons of Daggermark P
Otium Explorator A
Four Rivers Mercenary Corp T

And Taur-im-Duinath has changed its name to Blackwood Glade.

Woot! Thank you! ;)

Thod's Friends had a bonus and have not moved. Now, being in top ten, they might not gain any more bonus, but do they keep the bonus they have accumulated if they stay a V (which they seem to have every intent to do)?

Goblin Squad Member

When is the bonus calculated?

Midnight on sunday? IF you are in the same spot you were in you get a % bonus based on your size?

Inverse based on size.

Each Sunday at midnight Pacific they capture the board. A bonus is assigned that is (your position on the board) - 10 (11th place gets 1%, 17th place 7% etc,) with all groups that have the same number of members assigned the same bonus (so if 6 groups are tied for position 15,16,17,18,19,20, they all get 5%)

It is cumulative, as long as you stay in the same hex. As soon as you move, (whether freely or by being bumped) the bonus is gone.

It is only a bonus to stay put, so having 30% cumulative bonus gets you nothing to move to a new site.

If you unhide columns K and L in the Community land rush spreadsheet you can see our estimation of exactly what that means. Column "M" is what we (I) think the bonus is for each group as we approach the next week.

EDIT: changed link, as I accidentally linked to an extra copy instead of the real thing.

Caldeathe's been quite close each of the last two weeks, so much so it's been hard to tell between "quite close" and "bang on". His sheet's listed two groups inverted to each other vs Lee's list each week, but when Lee issues corrections, I've not remembered to go see whether Caldeathe was right the first time.

One issue that has surfaced at least once is that I can't be up to check things at Midnight PDT, so sometimes the numbers visible in my sheet are not the numbers they capture at the cut-off.

Goblin Squad Member

Very true. I updated through about 2230 MST (same as PDT), but when I fall asleep in my chair, it's an admission of age and decrepitude, so I go to bed.

Besides, Kabal hadn't booked anyone in a couple hours, so what else was there to watch for?

I'm certain there's an App For That - something to snag a copy of a website at a certain time for later reviewing, etc.

I gather the competition is driven by the number of folks in the settlement?

Also my early enrollment is not showing up when I log in to Goblinworks. How do I get this fixed?

This is easy to do in Linux. And was exactly what I was doing for a while with my landrush plots. (I've since stopped as you guys are doing a great job of tracking it.)

How it's done::

Make a short shell script which has the command:

wget --no-check-certificate https://www.goblinworks.com/landrush/guilds

replacing the last argument in the command with whatever page you want. If you want multiple pages, just have many lines, each with a similar command. Or you could put it inside a loop if you know some coding.

Once that shell script is made, enter crontab -e into the terminal and that'll open up the crontab. The first 5 arguments dictate how often you want the script run and the 6th is just ". script.sh"

Keep your computer on and it'll grab those webpages as often as you decided in the crontab.

I would have thought there might be a contact method on the website.

There is, but it's extraordinarily counter-intuitive.

When you hover over "goblinworks" at the top right of the bar on any page, it drops down [jobs] and [investors], but if you actually ignore the drop-down, and just click on "goblinworks in the bar, it takes you to the contact page.

Oh.

Cool and thanks!

Aww man. We really liked F :( I'd hoped the bonus would be more significant. Guess we'd better get to recruiting then...

Goblin Squad Member

Glad to see the Magistry holding firm at K. I'm very impressed with that group so far. They seem to be what The Empyrean Order was intended to be. By far the most promising large and good aligned group.

Goblin Squad Member

Sorry :(
It was not at the top of our list, but it was second.

Goblin Squad Member

Heh, no worries, I know it aint personal :p Just like us trying to steal it back won't be :D hehehe

Andius, your desire to slag your old company is extremely petty. Why don't you rage quit again... thanks.
