Lately we've been lacking a tank in our party or at least a relevant one. I want to build a cleric of gorum who does channel negative energy and basically is a walking beatstick with ac. I was wondering if there's a god better equipped for what i'm trying to do. I would rather a god with a one handed weapon that is still decently good so i could go sword and board. I also want my channel negative energy to be relevant and a main staple for my character because the alignment issues you rarely see someone in society channel negative energy at least in the boston area i haven't seen any. if anyone could give me stuff like stat layouts to work with or different gods to play with, or specific builds i would greatly appreciate it.
As for gods, what about Besmara (favored weapon rapier)? You'd have to add a little pirate-theme into the character, of course.
As for stats, you'll want good strength and good charisma, and at least enough wisdom to cast your spells. Don't worry about save DCs for your spells, though. With that concept, you'll mostly want to cast buff spells.
You'll need Selective Channeling so you don't hurt your party when you channel negative. Channel Smite might also be a good idea.
As for more ideas, you might want to ask in the Advice forum as well, I suppose you'll get a lot of ideas there.

Feronia is a great choice for what your are looking for. Her favored weapon is a Bastard Sword, and she has great domains for a melee cleric.
Asmodeus would be a solid choice for your deity, with the mace as a one-handed weapon, especially since you're going for negative channeling anyway.
We have a couple really solid pfs players here in the SoCal area that play neg-channel clerics of Asmodeus.

You are going to be pretty MAD: you need STR/CON/WIS/CHA to be a tanking negative channeling cleric. Going with an Angelkin Aasimar would allow you to go with 16/14/14/16 on those stats, which would help your build quite a bit. Dump INT/DEX to 8 if you want to start with a 17 STR and CHA (I don't think I would recommend that, though: I personally hate dumping either of those stats).
Crusader archetype would help a bit too, giving you three bonus feats that you are going to want for melee anyway: Heavy Armor prof, Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Focus.

She would be awesome for a home game (Liberation and a Bastard Sword? Ummm...yes?), but I don't think you could user her for a PFS deity, as neither of the source books that she is listed in are open for PFS.

Ah, I didn't realize that. Is she in the appendix in Inner Sea Gods? I know they reprinted several deities there, and you would think that Ragitheil's mother would be legal.. .
As for the MAD issues, you could be wisdom primary, and take guided hand to reduce the MADness, but it would hurt your damage somewhat. On the other hand, Channel Smite would make up some of that damage.
