Submitting a human sorcerer for this. Crunch and backstory in the profile.

Backstory of my Summoner is done. I've needed to tweak his crunch to match the backstory and Missionary trait so here's the new link.

Link

I'll create an alias if I'm chosen.

Backstory:

Left at the doorsteps at the temple of Sarenrae in the capital city of Katapesh as a child, Roscoe has since been raised by the church. Despite his natural tendecies, Roscoe has learned to accept Sarenrae's teaching of compassion and the endless yearning for peace. Even at a young age however, he felt that his talent was far from the need for healing; instead he focused his studies towards the nature of magic.

Once during his youth, Roscoe went with a priest into the desert to travel to a nearby camp to offer healing, a pack of wild knolls attacked their caravan. The knolls broke through their guards with only a few casualties and proceeded to slaughter the rest of the civilians. Running away as fast as he can, Roscoe found an opening among the rocks and hid inside. He did not go unnoticed however; as soon as he entered a viscious claw appeared at the opening, grabbing his shirt and threw him back out. Falling back, he scrambled away backwards until his back hit another rock formation. The knoll, looking at Roscoe with obvious malice, growled and approached slowly, savoring his victory.

Squeezing his eyes shut, Roscoe prayed to Sarenrae and surrendered; Suddenly, a warm feeling spread across him, spreading from his chest towards his hands. Opening his eyes, he sees his hands glowing faintly with a golden aura. Standing up slowly, Roscoe noticed that the knoll has stopped it's advance and was looking at him in fear. Then, as if he knew what to do all along, Roscoe put his hands together in front of him as if in prayer and saw in his mind a blurred image of one of Sarenrae's guardians, a canine enveloped in a golden aura. From the depictions inside the temple Roscoe now calls home, he knows who this is. Shouting out its name "Carlabu!", Roscoe spread his hands as a flash of golden light burst from within his clasp, temporarily blinding him and the knoll. As he regained his vision, the next thing he sees a blurry version of a golden hound-like creature biting into the knoll, knocking it out. Dropping the knoll from his jaw, the hound turns its head slighly to look at Roscoe.

A mental voice permeating strength and confidence suddenly rang inside his head, "You are not whom I expected to become my link to this world, halfling... but my elders did say there would come a time someone would need my help to save it. This does not seem to be the battle I have imagined but it is not a bad start either." Without waiting for a response from the yound astoundedly stunned halfling, the hound turned and dashed towards the remaining knolls, easily forcing them to retreat and leaving many unconscious.

Returning back to Roscoe, the blurry hound-like creature sat on its hind legs, seemingly at ease and waiting for a command. After a few moments, it tilted its head and said, "Well?". This seemed to bring Roscoe back from what appears to be shock, "Th-thank you for saving us but... Wha- who are you? Are you Carlabu, the golden archon hound of Sarenrae?"

A mental laugh suddenly resounded inside Roscoe's head, "Hahahaha... I am sorry to disappoint you, but I am no divine guardian. I would not want to claim the name or place of such a high esteemed being. I am known as Tyriel in my home plane, and I am an eidolon; a magical essence from another plane given shape through the imagination of its summoner. And, apparently that summoner is you."

Upon hearing this, Roscoe focused mentally on what Tyriel would look like and slowly, a general representation of his mental image came to shape. Slowly, the golden aura fades until it only slightly obscures the rest of Tyriel's form. He has now taken on the shape of a magnificent wolf with golden mane, and a slightly thicker 'fur' on the shoulders and at the base of his neck and chest. Now that the golden aura is slightly diminished, a faintly glowing red rune is evident on his forhead. Red lines flow from this rune towards the back and side of the creature, breaking off and curling to an end at seemingly random places. "Ahh... if feels good to be really given shape this time. I was beginning to wonder how powerful of a summoner you are, but at least your mentally capable." said Tyriel.

With new found confidence, Roscoe approached Tyriel and carefully reached with a hand to hold its head and look into his eyes. "I am Roscoe, a junior member of the Temple of Sarenrae, but if magic is what I can do to serve her to save this world, then that is what I intend to do. Will you help me... my friend?" With a pause of a few heartbeats, Tyriel finally responds "Friend, such a strange word... I accept your offer Roscoe of Sarenrae. Together, we shall bring new wonders to this world."

Since then, Roscoe completely focused on training to become a summoner. Frequenting the grand libraries of Katapesh to study, and the training grounds of other magicians for practise. At night, he offers prayers to Sarenrae, thanking her teachings and inspiration that enabled him to meet a friend, that would unknowingly last a lifetime.

Now, as a young halfling adult, Roscoe is ready to help further his temple's cause. Hearing of the toubles in Kelmarane and rumors associated with the old temple that is now in ruins, he volunteers to join Garavel's band to establish a new temple in Kelmarane. Unknowingly, this would be his first true adventure among many that would lead him and his eventual companions across the land of Katapesh.

PS I can't find a way how to add the Missionary trait via PC Gen, so I put in a different trait with a similar effect for Diplomacy.

I might Co-DM this, but I usually don't buy the APs until I know I'm Dming, so I haven't see the book yet.

Also, I'm not much of a roleplayer, so if I Co-DM this, I can't promise you to help with a role-playing game, but I can promise to help with a game. Not sure how heavily this is roleplayed.

If not and you rather not want me as a DM, I'll just play. In some games as a DM, I play a DMPC, but I would not do that in this game. So I'd either play or DM if you allowed me in, but not both. I prefer to help with the Dming, but I understand if turned down.

You sound perfect. Consider yourself Co-GM, if we can get players.

Woo! Congrats doublegold. Glad you found one.

I'm interested! I'm thinking of a paladin of Iomedae - anything I should be wary of? I'll post what I have in a spoiler in a bit.

EDIT:

Khanoor:

Sureelah Naalah Khanoor
female human (Keleshite) paladin (Iomedae) 1 LG
hgt: 5’6 wgt: 120 lbs
eyes: light blue
hair: dark brown, long
age: 20

STR 14 +2
DEX 12 +1
CON 10 +0
INT 13 +1
WIS 10 +0
CHA 18 +4

Concept: A steely desert paladin is seeking justice and redemption in the eyes of her family.

Appearance:
Khanoor has long, dark hair braided to her waist and a steely blue gaze that is startling against her tanned olive skin. She wears a turban wrapped around the base of her helmet and a glaive across her back. Perched high atop her camel, her armor is light to withstand the desert heat, and her gear is scuffed and worn with long use.

Background:
From a great civilization in the desert wastes of Katapesh, Khanoor grew up as the daughter of a merchant, a middle-class life that she held dear and has never forgotten. Her baby sister and brothers called her "Lala," as did her father; her older siblings and mother stuck with the more dignified Sureelah. Her mother wanted her to be a proper demure lady, but Khanoor was too tough and certain of herself to accept such a role.

Her family fell on hard times, and to avoid an arranged marriage Khanoor signed on with a mercenary group. Though she sent all her wages back to her family, her "irresponsible escape" strained her relations with them, and she rarely communicates with them.

The mercenaries always called her by her last name, and it stuck; now it's how she thinks of herself. Among the mercenaries there was no concern for whether the fighting they did was for a good cause or a bad one, which disturbed her. Often she would take solace in the teachings of Iomedae, the faith of one of the foreigners among the mercenaries, and in the end those teachings caused her to leave the mercenary group.

Attacked by gnolls when she was reluctantly returning to the city, she underwent a trial by fire in a long, running fight with them, alone in the desert. Through her cunning and faith she prevailed, for Iomedae heard her prayers and helped her to force the gnolls to flee. As she stood over the body of one of them and watched the remainder go for reinforcements, she pledged her life to Iomedae, finding peace in her principles.

Then she ran, because taking on a whole pack of gnolls alone was something only a fool would do.

Unwilling to go creeping back home, she was still forced to return to the city, where she sold her camel for money to live on and stayed far from the ward she had grown up in. Determined to show the world that there was a better path through Iomedae's grace, she looked for an opportunity to prove it.

Traits:
Armor expert (combat)
Finding Haleen, if possible.

When I ask what to be wary of, I guess what I really mean is: how do you see paladins behaving in your world?

I was mostly curious. Asking someone to commit to DMing an AP with you is quite a commitment and you don't have much of a resume. If you want to actually see an AP through to completion, you have to stack the deck in your favor.

I believe only one PBP AP has ever finished on these forums.

what if someone starts and stops, does that count as finishing?

Like Dming the first 2 books, take a 3 month break, dming the next 2 books, take another 3 month or 6 month break, dm the last 2.

Here is the background for my Sylph Air Wizard. Working on crunch.

Background:
Born into a wealthy family Revena was destined for a life of luxury. When the marks started appearing on her skin that all fell away and they dumped her on the streets when she was only 6 years old.

It was this little girl that was found by Haleen and cared for by her despite the relatively small difference in age. It was the same Haleen that managed to get her apprenticed to a wizard and agent of the Pactmasters that rule Katapesh.

Despite her busy schedule and long days learning under her mentor Revena and Haleen often met out on the streets of the city and together they'd simply look at the stars or the bustling streets below, talking about how their life had changed since they last met.

During the last half year those talks became less and less frequent as Haleen was busy, or so she claimed. When she went silent completely and could not be found anywhere in the city Revena started to worry. With the help of her mentor she managed to trace her to some ghost town out in the desert. She left her mentor's side, with his permission, and moved out to search for her friend.

I am interested. Let me work up a character

I am thinking perhaps a Druid, it is one of the few classes I have never played...maybe an oracle.

Do we have a deadline?

OK, this is mini btw

I think I will turn this dead profile into a Elementalist Wind Oracle, with the tongues curse (only speaks auran, with the idea that he is slowly becoming an elemental.

unless fiend-blooded goddess has any objections, I'd say recruitment is closed. But if you already expressed interest, you can still make your uncompleted character. I too am a proud procrastinator.

Hmm I had not done much with him, just stats and the basic build...is that enough? I was kind of waiting for a reply in case the entire thread had died out as happens sometimes. Let me know and I will get to it.

go ahead and finish him Belsiard, just because she hasn't replied since Monday, does not mean it is cancelled, even if it is, it should only take a few minutes. There were no questions, so she didn't need to answer them.
Or maybe she was busy for a few days.

I had a question...

Just don't be so overly lawful good that you ruin the party's fun.

Fair enough. I've just read enough alignment threads that I thought I'd ask to be sure.

I have an event tonight, but I will do it before I go to bed.

ok everything is done except for his gear.

I am open to changing his feat, I just took toughness for now since he has a low dex.

I'm going to have to withdraw my submission because I have too much on my plate right now. Have a good game everyone.

This is a lot to read, so I apologize ahead of time.

I tell you what, I'm not really up for being a full DM for 2 games at the same time. I'm willing to help Co-DM, but I don't want to DM, DM this. However, if Fiend-Blooded Sorceress does not show up by Tuesday I will go ahead and open up a Gameplay thread and DM only Book 1. If you want to continue playing after that, you will have to find a replacement DM for when book 2 starts, or just leave your aliases there and wait for a book 2 of Legacy of fire recruitment thread to open up.

I'm not much of a roleplayer, but I will do my best to give all of you a roleplay experience. I will DM this similar to DM ShadowBloodmoon and try to copy his style, only without adding in additional campaigns. Since I would be Dming like him, all who still want in are accepted, is that is exactly what he did, and the game ended up with 16 players to start with.

Because this means there are more players, there are more monsters, proportionate to the number, if there is suppose to be 4 PCS for this for example and an area has 3 monsters, there will be 6 monsters if we have 8 PCs. Don't worry about exp, I'll just level you up when you are suppose to. Because I can't guarantee that you will get to play beyond Book 1 given the circumstances, I do want you all to have fun with your characters. That being said, you will start at level 3. If Fiend-Blooded Sorceress shows up while I'm Dming she has the right to Delevel you back to level 1 if she desires. If another DM takes over on Book 2, they have the right to Delevel you back to level 4 if he/she desires, because the way I'm doing this you would be level 7 at the end of book 1 instead of level 4.

I'm not even sure how powerful I'm making everyone by letting people start 2 levels higher, but I thought I'd let people have fun since there is not much you can do at level 1 or 2, and because I can't guarantee this going past Book 1, the least I do is to let people have fun. The game will still be 20 point buy with the same races and classes allowed.

If you are okay with this, please respond here, so I know how many people I have for this, in-case Fiend-Blooded Sorceress does not show up by Tuesday.

It's fine with me. :)

I'm willing to give it a go, maybe you will find running more than one game is not so bad...I run 3

Which characters will you be taking?

Belsiard the Wanderer wrote:

All who want in, if you were already working on something and already said what you wanted to be, go ahead and finish it, that is how Dm shadow bloodmoon did it, that is how I will do it. But keep in mind if Fiendish-Blooded Sorceress does show up, actual selection will be done, instead of everyone in.

If I end up with twice as many players as I'm suppose to, I double the treasure, so splitting can be equal or as equal as it is suppose to be. And to make things easier, instead o a loot sheet, I just hand out items to people based upon class and idea. If you are a wizard for example, I wouldn't give you a long sword unless you were an elf.

If you are a Barbarian, I'm not going to hand you a shortspear in the loot, I'm going to hand you a martial weapon of Barbarian quality, preferrable an axe or a sword if one is in the loot. The shortspear would be given to someone who can't use martial weapons and who would be most apporiate for it. I would split loot as evenly as possible, so everyone would get an item.

If you don't like the item you get, you have the right to trade people, but this solves the problem of debating who gets what, it also prevents the game from slowing up because loot had to be decided.

Alright count me in

Coolio, im in

nice to see there is interest, but I won't run this with less than 4 people. So if our interested people are still interested, post here.

I will play, would love to play

I have

D-fang
Fuarqh Qeshyahar
Belsiar the Wanderer

I'm in too, I'll finish the profile when I get a minute.

ok we have 4, then i will upgrade my profile to level 3 tonight

What're we doing for hit die?

PFS style HP.
Oh and remember Level 3 Gold.

I'll send a completed alias and profile later (6hrs-ish).

Also, I just had a thought, to avoid deleveling by Book2. What if we use a slow XP progression for Book1 so that the over-level to Book2 is not too much? Like if we finish Book1 at lvl5 with slow EXP progression, we start Book2 at lvl5 at the minimum exp needed to get there using medium progression.

ok leveled up, saved most of my money, don't have anything for it ATM

DFang: This is my summoner PC.

DFang: This is my summoner's eidolon.

It will just be leveled up when suppose to, since most books go to level 4, you would be 6 at two. But like I said, I only plan on doing the first book. Real life is going to kick in once I'm done with book 1, which would take about 3 months if I actually give people a chance to role-play it.

Any DM could add more monsters or mark them up, I however am not going to. Or he might delevel you.

Also I'm really hoping fiend-blooded sorceress shows up, but I doubt that will happen in a couple of hours, so it looks like level 3 for you all.

OK then :)

Okay, I'm making a thread in the Gameplay called DoubleGold's Legacy of Fire, as soon as you all finish up your characters head on over and there you will see the rule and expectations which should be up in 10 minutes from this post.

It is up, under Play by Posts section, or you can just click on my profile and go to my most recent posts and find it that way.
I can't link the game here, because I'm not the one who made this thread.

I did some more on my alias, but I gotta call it a night. I have 1996 gp left. Any ideas what to do with it? I'm hesitant to buy expensive armor because I want to cast. Maybe special materials? Wands? Thoughts?

Wands are always good, especially those that heal
