What time will the 1st Draft be decided?

Pathfinder Online

Goblin Squad Member

Specifically, what time PST, will we need to lock in our decision on settlement placement for the landrush?

Goblinworks Executive Founder

I think it was 2400 PDT on Sunday.

Goblin Squad Member

That gives more time than I expected.

Goblin Squad Member

I've added a "unconfirmed Members" column to the Google spreadsheet, so people can add what they believe the real numbers are, purely for informational purposes.

Please don't alter the number in the "Members" column to reflect anything that isn't in=play at Goblinworks.

Come on man, don't refer to yourself in the third person... by your made up title no less.

Lord Zodd disapproves of such things :p

Uhmmm... it's only 06:36 PDT. 2400 PDT is still nearly 18 hours away at this writing.

How about now?

Goblin Squad Member

Seriously, it should have been close 0000 PDT. I had planned my whole day around managing the impact the announcement would have.

Goblin Squad Member

Ditto. Except more like about a half an hour planned. I have my wife's first-cousin-once-removed's graduation party to go to.

Goblin Squad Member

Congratulations on being one of the people who can keep those things straight. I've never been able to think of anyone as more than "kin" or "not-kin", while my brother can manipulate the family-math in his head.

Goblin Squad Member

It sent me running to Wikipedia, but they have a very nice chart that makes it pretty easy to remember what the parameters actually signify.

Grand Lodge Goblin Squad Member

6 AM UK time - will have to rise early tomorrow.

Goblin Squad Member

Remember that they might have to do some math stuff. They might do that before hand, but don't be surprised if they take a bit longer.

My wife's uncle's daughter's son.

Yes - the updated map might take half a day. The reason for me to rise early are to take a snapshot (yes - I'm a data junkie) and also to ensure that some late joiners will be counted.

I'm currently getting a decent number of unsolicited members aka members whom I didn't have to twist the arms or blackmail or redeem favours, etc. who 'just show up' and it is close enough in the ranking where I'm that I can't just go to bed 7 hours before the draw and ignore anyone coming after that.

For anyone else who hopes for a big firework? The chances that GW delivers on the dot are slim in my eyes - but who knows?

If they want to, it will be fast. If they have other priorities (like dozens of accounts that are still having trouble), it won't.

Unless there are a large number of changes today, they can have most of the work done already. In fact, since they have access to the actual database instead of scraping from web pages, they should be able to have the math running constantly and be all done the second they hit the "close" button.

For the math-challenged, there's a countdown timer on the left side of our Tumblr page, just below the header image: Here

Hang it out the back of the cart. I'm not stopping.

I could have made it longer:

My wife's father's brother's daughter's son.

Anyway, it's easier to say my wife's first-cousin-once-removed.

However... Are we there yet?

But wait..... Wife's Uncle's daughter's(cousin)son (2nd cousin) once removed. Shouldn't it be your 2nd cousin once removed.

Also, I never fully understood the "once removed" concept. Is that how many times you are related through marriage rather than blood?

So your wife family would all be once removed from you, and anyone they are married to would be twice removed?

Lastly.... Are we there yet? :-)

Here.

"Kin". See, how easy is that?

Goblin Squad Member

The "once removed" stuff is for generations away from whatever type of cousin it is. You first cousin's child is your first-cousin-once-removed.

Your second cousin is going up one more tier before going back down, but ending in the same "generation" as you. Third cousin is going up another before coming back down and so on.

getting complicated

The chronicler was offerered a front seat. Old people don't need that much of sleep anymore. The signs point to something to happen later. Phantasmorgia still without a shield of arms.
Errastil's Irregulars still hanging on in spot 33 despite Storm Wardens being able to still overtake by putting the stamp on some pending paperwork.
Or do I miss anything last minute?

I really think that all you guilds with 7-10 members should be working a lot harder to combine. Ideally, they, along with all guilds of 20 or more would combine into three guilds, which includes the elves and the dwarves, leaving Thod's crew uncontested for the emerald spire and the Canadians with our pick of the board.

Chop, chop!

Goblin Squad Member

Hey, our group isn't all Dwarves! I find that racist.

Goblin Squad Member

Virgil Firecask wrote:

I have no idea why.

I only want other groups to combine with you, because I'm fairly certain you're not interested in any of my top terrain picks.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm interested in all 26 letters and even the combination of a couple of them into double-lettered abominations.

Well, we're all cousins to some degree or another, but in an interesting & serendipitous coincidence, the YouTuber CGP Grey just released an explanation video which makes the family-math significantly clearer!
