The Vial of Efficacious Medicine states that it increases the effect of an alchemical remidy applied from it.
A vial of efficacious medicine can hold a single dose of an alchemical remedy, such as antitoxin or antiplague. Loading a remedy into the vial is a standard action that provokes attacks of opportunity. When an alchemical remedy is imbibed or applied from the vial, any alchemical bonus it grants on saving throws or checks or to AC or CMD increases by 2. Treat this increase as an enhancement bonus. In addition, the user is healed of 1d8+5 points of damage. A vial of efficacious medicine can be used up to three times per day.
I ask myself what it works with.
Would the alchemist's kindness work, for example?
Or vermin repellant?
Favored by young rakes and others of means, this is a crystalline powder resembling salt. Mixed with water, it makes a fizzing cocktail that eliminates the effects of a hangover thin 10 minutes of drinking it.

Lets read:
causes any liquid contained within to take on a significantly darker cast and twinkle with motes of beautiful white light.
This vile-smelling white paste keeps vermin at bay if spread on the skin.
Clearly a no.
Mixed with water, it makes a fizzing cocktail
Sure, they are both liquids.
PS, reading the part where it talks about medicines, i would be really careful on what can be used with it.

But its a paste, not a liquid. I wouldnt allow it.
Specially cosidering the cost of the item (1 gp), it will turn into a cure light wounds potion (minimum 25 gp if crafted for 1d8+1).
It is a powder that has to be mixed with water to create a cocktail. Not really a paste.
And if the vial only works with expensive stuff it's not worth it.shroudb |
Sorry to drag out an old post but it's the only one I've found on this item. Does any one question the pricing of this item? The cost says 700 gold, though to make one it says 4500 g. I haven't found anything about any change to that and I was thinking of picking one up for a cleric. Any ideas?
the 700 is probaly wrong given how much this thing does.
even if it was only the 3 clw/day it would be higher than that, let alone the +2 to other remedies like antitoxin and stuff.

The pathfinder society additional resources page http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/rpg/additional mentions the Pathfinder Player Companion: Alchemy Manual and advises "The correct price for the vial of efficacious medicine is 7,000 gp; ". In looking for the answer this thread came "high" on the responses but one of those where no update had been made, meaning I had to look elsewhere.
