Becoming a PFS GM

Scarab Sages

I'm a PbP GM here on the boards, and I am interested in running shorter modules instead of three-year AP's. PFS seems to fit the bill, and there definately seems to be a demand for PbP PFS.
However, I know next to nothing about PFS GMing and have done no PFS gameing myself. Therefore I know nothing about the paperwork involved (chronicles?) or the procedure of it all.

Advice, please? Any advice will help. How does this work? Should I play PFS before I GM it? What is required of me as a PFS GM that is different from standard GMing?

1) Just start. I like the Confirmation as a good start mod or We Be Goblins.

2) Check the PFS board. Lots of advice on each scenario that you want to play.

3) Paper works a breeze. At the end of the game, you collect peoples info (name, number, and faction). You report that on the website, so as a PbP person you're good there. Go here to read more and click http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/getInvolved and click create an event at the end of the game.

4) At the end of the event you fill out the chronicle based on how the PCs did. The only thing you have to do is record their day job roll. PFS cahracters get money between games based on some other work they do. Read more here. http://paizo.com/products/btpy84k4

5) GO have fun!

To be clear, you do this:
1) start game as normal except you need names (real names?) and PFS numbers.
2) play game
3) at the end, take down the information required by the chronicle sheet and create an event. Then submit forms (via online form?) and I'm done? I guess I'll see more on this when I come to that step.

I think the fact that I've never played PFS is complicating this issue. I feel that there's a lot of implicit information about PFS and how it works that I just don't know. Maybe I should apply to and play a few sessions to get a feel for the differences.

Make sure that you download, glance through, and read the relevant sections of the PFS Guide, which fine_young_misanthrope linked to. Those are the official rules for the PFS campaign.

Yes. I do plan on doing that. Thanks for the links, by the way. :)

It might be prudent to play a PFS game first, before running one. Then you'll know at least one other PFS GM in person that you can ask questions from directly :)
