I'm running the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure path and I'd like to tweak the Fiendsplitter found at the back of Sword of Valor. Specifically, I'd like to make it into a warhammer instead of a waraxe and give it some family ties to one of the PCs. The problem is that if it becomes a warhammer, the name Fiendsplitter no longer makes sense, so I'm looking for suggestions. :)

The Weight of Judgment, if you like 3rd person names.
Adjourned, if you like a 'person' name. "You have been Adjourned!"
If you like simplicity, 'Gavel' or 'The Gavel' are also alternatives. Note you're doing a lawful type name, instead of Holy, although they overlap.
Give it a name that grows as you add power to it. Gavel, Heaven's Gavel, Heaven's Gavel of Judgment, Heaven's Merciful Gavel of Judgment, etc.
One word names tend to be every bit as impressive as long ones, however. When you can sum up your weapon in one word and everyone knows it, you know you've arrived. "Excalibur" just sounds cooler then "Liberated from the stone."

Does it matter? In a level or so your character will be down ye olde magick item shoppe buying something better. Naming magic items in PF is like naming your characters socks.
My point, don't spent too much time worrying. Just choose something that sounds good to you. But unless you have an item not suited for your level it'll be vendor trash in a couple of sessions.

the name could come from its history rather than its purpose. in my campaign one of the characters was gifted a warhammer which had been a trophy taken by dwarves from a hill giant chieftain responsible for the death of many of their kin. he had used it as a throwing hammer, and though the dwarves knew not what he called it (if anything) they had named it whispering death, or Torven Viskar in their tongue.
torven viskar is whispering death translated into some Scandinavian language (i forget which) via google translator :)
