Is San Diego a Pathfinderless Community?

I'm looking for a group in San Diego near or in Poway that's playing Pathfinder. I see lots of activity on these message boards in other areas of the country but San Diego seems to be a deadland for such things.

Nonetheless, I'm a 39 year-old who enjoyed playing D&D back in the day and would like to pick up the hobby with some like-minded people again. I own a Core Rulebook and am familiar with the general mechanics and the world of Golarion so I'm not a complete noob, but still an amateur. Most people I personally know aren't interested in playing this so I'm trying my luck on here. Anyone got a campaign or group that's got room for one more?

Evidently San Diego is in Arcadia. Paizo doesn't seem to be able to get their collective head out of the Inner Sea Region. :)

Rob, have you tried checking out Game Empire in SD? I been there once and they had a huge gaming room.

I was familiar with the place when one of my buddies moved down there for a few years and he used to go there to play Board Games - they also have a GE near me in Los Angeles (Pasadena).

Not sure how far of a drive it is from Poway.

They should have bulletins and meet-ups posted there in the store.

I have in the past, but I've found the prevalent attitude in there is very snobby and elitist. There didn't seem to be much interest in an amateur or a non-regular joining them. Admittedly, it's been a little while, but I tried posting on their message board a couple times and received no responses. One reason I feel RPGing is so niche is that many of those who do play (at least here in San Diego) are very aloof and have no interest in newer players.

My experience on the Paizo boards has been contrary to this so that's why I decided to try here.

It's funny you wrote this as it touches on another post I recently put up regarding my desire for Paizo to give us more info and stats on OTHER regions of Golarion and the other planets.

Rob,
San Diego has a thriving Pathfinder Community headed by Eric Brittain.

There are regular monthly game days at Game Empire in San Diego.

And I know there are more games also in Northern Inland San Diego County also. Eric can give you all the scoop on this.

There contacts are here:

I also know that they will be running events at Comiccon in San Diego this summer also for an entire weekend of gaming.

Shadow Lodge

Rob,

There is a Pathfinder Community and I am involved with the Pathfinder Society Organized play (PFS).

Your posts leave me unsure as to what prat of the community you actually experienced.

We have have many PFS games that can find out about at our [url=http://www.meetup.com/San-Diego-Pathfinder-Society-Organized-Play/\meetup group[/url]. Any PFS game that we know of in the area we will post here.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly via PM on these boards or directly at SDPathfinder@gmail.com.

Playing PFS gives you a great opportunity to find other like minded folk and start up home games.

There is gaming out there and I am glad to help you find it.

Thank you, miniaturepeddler and Eric Brittain. I appreciate the feedback. I'll look back into Game Empire as it has been a while since I last tried. Things can change and different prople can bring about a different atmosphere so I'd be more than willing to try again. I'll send you (Eric) an e-mail this weekend to inquire about more info.

As previously stated, I'm not a noob, but I am an amateur and familiar with basically the Core Rules and not so much the Advanced ones. I want to play with more experienced players so I can experience Golarion in a more immersive way as a PC. I just started DMing this weekend with a couple friends that I managed to talk into trying RPG's. They are complete noobs and I'm new to DMing so I'd like to be a PC and play under an experienced DM, gaining insights and ideas for myself.

Plus, it's cool to meet new friends who share an interest with this hobby.

I appreciate all the feedback.

Lastly, someone recommended me to "At Ease Games" on Miramar Rd., as well. Does anyone have any insight to that place and possible comparisons and contrasts with "Game Empire"?

Liberty's Edge

Rob,

I used to game at Game Empire but the new location of At Ease blows Game Empire out of the water. They've done a great job creating a space which caters to BOTH miniature gamers and rpg'ers. I found at GE oftentimes the pen and paper players were pushed aside by the hardcore minis gamers. There are specific tables set aside for rpg'ers and board gamers at At Ease. The first Saturday of every month there's a PFS event with 2 slots (2 scenarios each). I would highly recommend checking it out. You won't be sorry.

I'm also looking for a local Pathfinder game, but I am not terribly interested in Pathfinder society, I just want a "regular" game.
