French Players ?

Hey,

I thought a lot about joining a French company or something like that, a few months ago, but let's get real, French are not that good at making French organisations in international servers.

So, I was thinking, shouldn't we try to organise not to create a French organism, but to concentrate ourselves mostly around the same already established organisations ?

I don't mean that everybody goes in the same one, mainly because, well, all of us don't want the same alignment, but at least try to organise a minimum ? Like, having a base to encourage French players ? I mean, we all have some friends who didn't play EvE, because it was in English...

A little precision for other readers : Unlike most of Europe, being fluent in English is not very common among French people. It's a little more common among gamers, but I think that we can safely say that a vast majority of French are incapable to play in a 100% English environment.

The Seventh Veil would love to have a French contingent, if anyone's interested. We already have some folks spread across Europe, but more is definitely better. I'm fairly certain a number of them speak French, too.

The Empyrean Order has at least one french speaking player, perhaps we have more (not sure). He/they may know others who would be interested in your proposition. I will let him know your interest and ask him to reach out to you.

I think its a great idea!

It's also always nice to have a euro-time based section in a guild for advanced scouting and snipper operations against US time based guilds :-)

About French presence in EE, I'm not sure there will be many of us around… I tried raising some interest in my former (pre-EvE) guild (l'Alliance des Seigneurs), but no real answer. I think that if you didn't start following PFO from at the latest the 2nd Kickstarter, the $100 entry ticket to join what is perceived as an evolved beta is too high.

Seeya,
A bientôt en jeu :-)

Les Compagnons was a french group that did pretty well in the 1st land rush, they might be lurking somewhere.

Given the way PVP windows for settlements and POIs work I expect that having members in different time zones will eventually become a major goal of the larger factions in the game. Without that you could be up against enemies who are only 'vulnerable' to attack when nearly all of your members are asleep or at work. A settlement of players all in a low player population time zone (e.g. UTC +4) might be able to hold out indefinitely.

There's a French and Greek guild:

LesCompagnons(Frenchspeaking)|Armenfrast||N / L|French

in Nihimon's Guild Recruitment list.

I think Guilds of a size will do well to connect up with like minded to form allied settlements in proximity.

Les Compagnons seems to be dead, actually.

Thanks, Gayel Nord, it's nice to know I can still at least read and understand most of what you wrote without having to go to Google Translate :)

"That's the same impression I got. I tried to contact them, but nothing came of it. In any case, for my part I am the only one in my group who openly speaks French. You would be welcome to join us if you'd like..."

Actually, I start running into problems in the last few sentences, so that should give you an idea of how limited my vocabulary is. Still, it's fun to try :)

Nope, not yet. Didn't have time to really look around for one, and I was hoping some of my guildmates would come and join me during EE. I guess that's dead, anyway.

(and it takes time to read all the stuff on the forums…)

TEO would *love* to have a more European branch. We have a few members from Europe as is, and we would happily welcome more!
Come say hello on our forums!

TEO really wants to be Internationally attuned, and were trying to setup meetings where a large group of Europeans can connect with the North Americans on a weekly basis.

The Empyrean Order

That will take you to our main thread if you are interested in finding out more about what we stand for and what all we focus on.

I'm Canadian, and my french is a little rusty, but it is passable. I actually joined a french linkshell during my time in Final Fantasy XI years ago.

Anyway, as Nihimon said, we in TSV would love to have francophone people!

I think that because I have fall to my regional dialect.

I said that in time zone we have a problem. I am in Québec and he is in France. So we will met up. When it late night for me.

Goblinworks Executive Founder

Actually, no, it's the other way around. :)

We have a few hours in advance. When your evening is beginning, night is very advanced in France. :)

Goblin Squad Member

Not to mention the slang, as well.

In Canadian schools (at least, when I learned it) they teach France French. And boy was it a shock when I met my first Quebec friend... Couldn't understand a damn word he said!

lol

I am all for advanced nights! At least we might have some quality meals, fine wines, elegant oratory, and entrancing women.

< Fult listens to the conversation of the strangers and is happy to have bought a cap of Tongues, despite the pink ribbons that hang from each side. Fult dons hastily the bonnet and says "Heeeeello, Fult glad to meet strangers. Fult, Kellid!"

The spell does not seem unerring though : "Booooonjour, Fult content de rencontrer des étrangers. Fult, quel id... iot!"

Maintenant, vous excuserez Fult, mais Fult a hâte d'enlever..." this damned cap with all these pink ribbons that make Fult seem like a madman.

Fult thinks two seconds et dons again the helmet, quickly "Oh!... et apportez une couple de sauciflards, par pitié, ceux de la guilde sont infects".

Goblin Squad Member

Ah.. Fult and your pretty mouth. :P

Fult, it's a cap of Tongues. Are you sure those are ribbons?

BTW, you speak beautiful French.

Hey! Thank you, Moonbird! If Moonbird has an equal experience with cheese and vineyards, Fult can predict Moonbird would have a great future in T7V community. <grins>

Tss, Tss, who said we are dead ?

The fact is that I was not truly vigilant, and i discovered this second Land Rush lately.

I would be glad to recruit Moonbird and some of his fellow guildmates, and anyone interested in a french speaking guild, in order to boost our meager contingent of 7 members.

Pour apporter votre contribution, choisissez la guilde Les Compagnons: Rejoignez Les Compagnons

Sadly, that's true, and this is the reason why I have sponsored Les Compagnons. I am currently involved in both Pathfinder Society and in the french Pathfinder_fr community, and when we first heard of the kickstarter funding i took the time to read, translate (a bit) and explain (a lot) what it was all about. A handful of players seemed to be interested and I raised the funds in order to pledge at Crowdforger Guild level.

And here we are...

Currently the idea is to create a mercantile oriented guild, and i expect the dominant alignments to be Lawful Neutral and Neutral.
