Devils Revisited

Hypothetically, if someone were to write a Devils Revisited book in the same vein as Demons Revisited what named, unstated devil characters would you want to see and from where?

Named. Unstated. Mentioned in an existing product. Go.

The Malebranche. The Whore Queens. Orobas. Screw it, I at least want art for all the named devil characters that don't have any. :)

Editor-in-Chief

I'm thinking particularly for the example statblocks that would show up at the end of each chapter. So, the gelugon section would end with stats for a named gelugon, preferably from established canon.

So non-deities.

The only canon devil that springs to mind, is of the pit fiend advising Abrogail II.

There the Erinyes that was bound to Queen Ileosa

Here are the ones I was able to locate, sorted by type. I put stars next to the ones in each category that I thought would be most interesting to see, but any of them would be good.

*Calamyar (Barbazu, Servant of Asmodeus)

*Redomeus (Cornugon, Servant of Asmodeus)

Liyamzam (Erinyes, Servant of Asmodeus)
*Lrilatha (Erinyes Inquisitor 13, Tutor to the Majestrix of Cheliax)
Veil (Erinyes, Trapped in the Bottle of the Bound)
Zanzinaria (Erinyes, Bound to Ileosa)

Ambassador Kzei (Gelugon, (Presumably, based on location) Ambassador to the Whispering Tyrant)
Oronothos (Gelugon, Advisor to the Lord of Corentyn)
Vhalnhazaghente, Chovotayn-Yhaum, Ihazaaz A.K.A. Shalixakthoryn (Gelugon, Formerly a bone devil, got promoted from various exceptional conquests)
*Voulgarghas (Gelugon, Increased Hell's Influence Over the Founder of the Hellknights)
Vrs'vly (Gelugon, Servant of Asmodeus)

*Aegrizok the Denuded (Hamatula, Forges weapons for devils in Phlegethon)
Rivois (Hamatula, Serves the High Priestess of Mammon)
Tursax (Hamatula, Servant of Asmodeus)

*Fristax (Unique Imp, Servant of Asmodeus)
Ginarl (Imp, Familiar of the High Priestess of Mammon)

*Marago (Osyluth, Servant of Asmodeus)

Arro the Ashensun (Unique Pit Fiend, Servant of Asmodeus)
*General Gorthoklek (Pit Fiend, Advisor to the Majestrix of Cheliax)
Nhazaghente (Pit Fiend, Scholar of Ashes)

Then we have these oddballs:
Orxines (Unknown Type, Summoned to Egorian as part of a plot to create large numbers of hellspawn through breeding)
Khyedkhyed ('Rebel Hellmouth', likely a bizarre, unique opponent, but if you want an 'Animate Hellmouth' chapter or something, I'm tossing it out there)

And here we have a list of things that are listed as 'Major powers of Hell', but lack classification. They're *probably* Infernal Dukes that are just missing domain/portfolio/favored weapon info, but we might have some out-of-system Malebranche, a bonus Whore Queen (Glasya-Labolas sometimes ends up female instead of male in various things), or other, odder stuff on here. I'm including it in case any of these are actually Devils of various types as opposed to unique beings:
Astaroth
Glasya-Labolas
Nahemah
Nybbas
Orobas
Xaphan
Zagan

The following Infernal Dukes lack domains / portfolios / favored weapons. I'm listing them in case we get another list of Infernal powers and their domains and stuff on one of the inside covers:
Caarcrinolaas
Drobail
Gavarse
Rasvocel
Ruithvein
Sobartonz
Vassago

Shalixakthoryn: Another vote for Shal--er, I mean, Vhalnhazaghente, Chovotayn-Yhaum, Ihazaaz!

Hezechor: Contract devils are, in my opinion, the classic infernal breed. Middle of the road CR-wise, the Faustian bargain is their schtick, and they're handsome devils (hah!) to boot. I vote to give contract devils their due, and Hezechor (from The Redemption Engine) is the only named representative of which I am aware.

Crocell, the Soothing Sin: If infernal dukes are of demigod strength, not full deity status (assuming Lorthact is any guide), I'd love to see a stat block for Crocell. His convoluted, fragmented mind and nightmarish obsession with hidden patterns of the universe ("ripples," perhaps, as a lord of hidden waters?) makes the mad duke hiding in his manor stand out from others in Princes of Darkness -- especially because we expect this sort of madness from Old Cults or agents of chaos rather than champions of law -- and would likely give him some unique and insidious powers as well.

Geg Noam Gyeg: ...What happened to him?

Fristax: An obvious choice, sure, but still interesting. A lowly imp has advantages that no other devil can boast: namely, the ability to serve as a familiar, and the widespread perception of insignificance that provides. But what abilities does a favored imp of Asmodeus get?

Eunecto-Vas, the Pale Visir: Now there's a story worth telling! (Can you tell I'm predisposed towards devils as master manipulators?) A bdellavritra with a major behind-the-scenes role in Thuvia -- what did it do during that time, and what was the fatal mistake that led to its downfall at the hands of Jadvist the Rat-Catcher?

Any Deimavigga: So far, we haven't seen a single named deimavigga! Apostate devils are one of the most interesting species of devil -- what sort of role do they play in Golarion's history?

I could rattle off a few daemons! err, yeah daemons devils :)

How about Methricandra, the erinyes seeking to claim part or all of Aroden's former domain in Axis?

Spoiler:
You should finish The Redemption Engine.

What was the name of the Ice Devil that as working up around Xin Shalast?

Edit: Nevermind, he had a stat block.

I'd dig seeing a Khazrae revisit, either "before" or some hypothetical "after"... ;)

hoping gylous/handmaidens have a chapter!

YES

One has to wonder just why she was branded "heretic" and if that's how she wound up in that situation.

Oooo... As Khaz has become one of the primary NPCs for my CoT game, I'd love to have her before....

Although it probably won't live up to what she has in her own head.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves! You you might be surprised! :)

Spoiler:
But seriously, what a great NPC that is. I'm honestly thinking about importing her into the Shattered Star game that didn't have any CoT players in it, and tying her past into the aforementioned Zanzinaria's.

My suggestion doesn't fit your request :(

But I would buy any book that had an updated version and art for the Unilla/Cabal Devil on that point alone :P

I like this idea very, very much.

I'll have to think about it, though. And possibly browse through some books for a bit.

To go back to the original question, Radovan's devils have names, and

Spoiler:
some of them were let free into the world in Queen of Thorns.

Editor-in-Chief

Lots of interesting pieces. Thanks for all the suggestions so far!

Alichino the Jester Prince. He is literally the single most important devil on Golarion, and we haven't the slightest idea where he is and what he's doing.

Isn't he a unique devil, though (Malbranche)?

Hm, while not actually stated what kind, there was the devil that cheated Lecit Ghazts out of his body... (from back cover of Broken Moon)

Well we have no idea how unique the Malbranches are. (In previous editions, Malebranches were just another kind of devil.)

EDITL I also wish Paizo would correct that misspelling. "Malebranche" is the proper devilish name, while "Malbranche" is so far as I can tell a real-world family.

True - in one they're a 'lateral demotion', and in Golarion they seem to have a 'Usher of the [devil] Apocalypse' feel to them.

Seems to me like they'd be more of a unique type, rather than a alternate gelugon or cornugon.

Be nice to find out, though.

As much as I'd love to see Alichino statted out, my guess is that he's being held in reserve as the final boss of an AP, long down the road.

A hamatula monk who's the actual source of the hamatula fighting style would be amusing.

Also, WANT.

I am 100% ok with this. We got some great new devils in Council of Thieves and the Cabal devils are my favorite. The red skinned assassin devils are great too.

I would buy "Devils Revisited" in a heartbeat. Demons are great, but devils, man--that's where it's at!

Found this while looking futilely for a thread to ask Wes about how Paizo determines which devils get full bestiary status. (Was wondering why the magaav made it, and the gaav didn't, while the levaloch, ayngavhuals and salikotals have been entirely left out.) Is it because they didn't feel compelling, or what? AP #26 was a long time ago for an outsider to linger.

I love the idea of a devils revisited book, BUT...I would actually not like it to be a direct mirror of Demons Revisited. By that, I mean the classic devils are awesome, and I would love seeing more on them, but the new PF devils seem to be largely ignored, with a few exceptions. Other than the statblock where they appear, deimaviggas, puragaus, advodaza...these guys aren't even mentioned in the hierarchy of Hell bit in Princes of Darkness. (I know, some of them didn't exist then) I feel the entire B-lineup of devils is begging to be explored in greater detail. Malebranche, for instance, are sort of begging to be mythic rank cornugons.

I love devils. I co-authored Gates of Hell because I love them so much. I'd just also love to see more than our classic Bestiary 1 devils get some additional treatment.

Good stuff

As a happy owner of WotC's Fiendish Codex II Would second this idea, though in such a product, I'd hope ice devils (my favorite!) would make it in.

I mean Fey Revisited, you get some of the classical DnD fey; dryads, nymphs and satyrs. But nuckalevee and norns were included, as wells as leprechauns (which I don't recall being stated up in 3e, despite the PHB giving them as an example of a creature that speaks sylvan).

I'd personally like to see Methricandra the Razor-Tounged Queen, the erinyes trying to claim Aroden's domain in Axis, statted up.

Eiseth the Erinyes Queen

She's not really the type for a Devils Revisted title, anymore than the Malebranche, Dukes of Hell, or archdevils would be. (Should not be taken as an indication I would not love to see them.)

The Revisted line tends to favor normal base creatures, and provide unique examples of them.

One of the Devils connected to Radovan might makes for interesting material. How about Quang!

Edit: What about the Devil the Whispering Tyrant used to seduce King Ardurras Virholt, the last king of Ustalav?

I just want to see more on the Cabal Devils...they have gotten no luv since they first appeared :(
