Wand use question: different class' spell level?

Beginner Box

So, our cleric got bad cursed: no channel, no domain spells and 1 less normal slot per level. Until we get definitively rid off the curse, we can "block" it for 24 hours casting remove curse as arcane spell. Now, we have 2 arcane casters, me as magus and the wizard. What if we buy a wand of remove curse created from a witch or a bard? We're homebrew, not pfs, so we could possibly find a wand crafted from witch, that would bring down the price. But what if we want to use? Do we need umd? Or can the wiz (we're 8th level) use the wand without problems even if remove curse is 4th level for wizards and 3rd for witch?

If the spell is on your class's spell list, you can use it normally.
It doesnt matter you own caster level.

Example: a lv1 wizard could use a wand of fireballs.

Could only understand about half your post, but hopefully this will help:

If the spell appears on your class spell list, you're golden. No need for UMD or anything else. Just the usual activation method.

Bestow curse appears on the class list of the following classes:
alchemist, bard, cleric, inquisitor, paladin, sorcerer/wizard, witch

If you are on this list (even if only a 1 level dip) then you can use a wand with remove curse just fine. If you are not on this list, then you need to use UMD.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, but maybe I was not able to explain well. I'll try again: basically, we need a wand of remove curse. If we buy such wand crafted by a witch (for which the spell is 3rd level), can the wizard use it even if it's 4th level for him?

Yes. You can use any wand that has a spell which you have on your own spell list. The only difference is that the wand will count as the Caster Level determined at crafting, so it would be a CL 5 remove curse if a witch made it. This may affect how useful the spell is.

Edit: Adjusted the CL number because I mixed up spell level and caster level. Oops!

It just means the wand likely has a caster level of 5 instead of 7 (which may effect any checks made to overcome a curse).

Of course, if you are chartering the want to begin with, you can ask for it to possess a certain caster level, up to a maximum equal to the creator's caster level.

Aside from cost to create, whether it is a 3rd-level spell or a 4th-level spell is inconsequential for wands. (Looks like you might save money, but get a less potent wand.)

In this case we don't care about the power. We need to temporary block the curse. ..

If you are only removing a single curse, a scroll would be much cheaper.

That may still require a Caster Level check, and that's totally dependent on the CL of the wand, not the person holding the stick.

You also have to remember that you're going to be hard up to find a Bard that's taking the Craft Wand feat given that it's almost totally useless for him.
