Dark Tapestry Cleric

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Hi,

My Dark Tapestry based cleric worshiped the Great Old Ones. Great role playing character that has now been banned from PFS. This is my second character that updated rules have banned ...not happy at this turn of events...getting very tiresome.

Furthermore, I have the Dark Tapestry as Sub-domain and I now wonder if there are any of the "non-banned" gods that I can take with this sub-domain? If anyone knows, please let me know.

Thank you,

Grand Lodge 4/5

I wasn't under the impression that the Great Old Ones were ever legal in PFS.

I believe you can take the Dark Tapestry mystery as an oracle, but as long as I've been playing you could never be an actual cleric.

^^^ what he said. you were playing a non legal character. the only way to get that sub domain is to go separatist. So, nothing banned, that wasnt.

Hi,

Yes, the Great Old Ones were legal to play..CN and from the Inner Sea Guide. Also, it was legal to pick the Dark Tapestry as a sub-domain for a cleric.

What is really ironic about this whole thing is that this is the same character that I had change to a cleric when they banned the Master Summoner.

Again a great role playing character that I even had some props (Cthulhu Tome, etc.) to enhance the role playing aspect of this character.

Um, the legal gods granted by the Inner Sea World Guide are on pages 229, 231, and 234. The Great Old Ones aren't on those pages, so they were never legal. They're on page 235.

It was very legal...as a Theologian, worshiping CN Great Old Ones (also legal), you could take the Dark Tapestry domain. Checked and rechecked multiple times by many GMs and 5 Star GMs as well.

Hi,

Barring any interpretations as to the legality of the character, does anyone know of any "legal" gods that you can take the Dark Tapestry as a domain?

Thank you for all of the input so far.

Well all those GM's and 5 stars are wrong. it happens. we cant all know all the rules or ins and outs. this has been discussed in a few different threads and the outcome is that NO legal gods grant the dark tapestry sub domain. I know this because I went looking awhile back cause I too am liking my summoning characters. I chose a cleric of shelyen because her clerics can enter her brothers temples, and thinks that zon isnt all bad.
I know you think you are correct. how long did these other GM's take to confirm you have a legal character? And if there was that many. I have to think that you questioned it a lot as well, to have asked so many.

I have had the character for over a year and have played in many PFS conventions and weekly PFS sanctioned games. I don't play him a lot, but each game I give my character sheet to the GMs to go over anything that might flag the character as not being PFS legal. This issue came up multiple times and each time it did, it was deemed legal to play.

The character is almost 10th level, and therefore, he does not have many games to play before retirement. In the end, this might not even matter. However, I have had a lot of playing the mad cleric of the Dark Forgotten Gods and I am very disappointed that a really fun character is now unplayable in PFS-legality issue aside. I don't min/max as a practice, although its fine if people do because this game is about having fun. Nevertheless, I really enjoy role playing and getting into the essence of a character's history, background, and demeanor. It is too bad this character will be moth balled before getting to retirement level.

I appreciate your input and opinion. Again, in the end, it really won't matter; but it's too bad that PFS did not, or has not, made the Dark Tapestry legal. It has a lot of role playing aspects to it and it would only add something different in the roleplaying aspect of the game. Paizo has teamed up with Chaosism for its Carrion Crown AP (great AP) and it would have been nice for them to have carried that partnership into PFS.

So as the resident self proclaimed expert of what is and has been legal for Gods I can tell you The Great Old ones have never been legal, and I am sorry all your GM and you missed that.

A quick look at the gods I don't see any that give dark tapestry other then the The Great Old ones.

That said there is a way to get it but you would have to retrain your archetype to Separatist which allows to you pick one domain that can be any you want as long as it is not a alignment domain opposite your god.
