Double-Racking Spells?

Homebrew and House Rules

How about a feat that allows a caster to hold not only one spell, but two? He would need to cast them each as a standard action as appropriate, and he would need to make a concentration check each round that he's holding two spells, but he can unleash them each as a swift action on his turn.

The insane wombo combo potential seems far too easy to pull off to make this balanced in any way.

I thought that casting each spell as a standard action + the cost of a feat + a concentration check to "hold" them would help to balance matters. Can you give me an example of an insane wombo combo?

When you say 'hold a spell' what do you mean? Touch spells and holding the charge? Just not casting the spell fully?

An explanation/example would be helpful.

What game play issue are you experiencing with casters that this buff is designed to address?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Also, how would this work with a Magus and spellstrike? Cause it sounds like Magus Mike would love it.

3.0 or 3.5 had spell or feat that allowed holding more than one charge... Spell flower or something like that. It might have been in Savage Species or other book with lot of monster material as it was primarily intended for multi-armed creatures. At least I think so.
