Alternate Changeling Hag Traits; any ideas?

Though I quite like the Changeling race, for various reasons, it hasn't escaped my notice that their Hag Racial Traits race feature only accounts for the three most common kinds of hag; Annis, Green, and Sea. Thing is, there's a number of other different kinds of hags, and I'm sure they produce changeling daughters as well.

Hell, in Dragon Magazine's ecology article for Night Hags, the species is described as using a process almost *exactly* like the changeling procedure of Pathfinder's hags - the night hag births perfectly human (if prone to being magically talented and/or odd) human daughters, who must then be magically converted into new night hags by their mother.

So, the Bestiary 1 gives us the Night Hag (anyone else find it odd that Night Hags were in the first bestiary, but Annis Hags didn't show up until the third?) and the Bestiary 4 gives us the Winter Hag; does anyone have any suggestions what the Hag Racial Traits for those two kinds could possibly be?


I had considered doing this myself...but have held off hoping that "official" versions would be done....

I did a version for the Night Hag...but at the time decided to make it a "spawn" version of a tiefling...as that seemd closer to the "outsider" type.

I think I would rather just go with changeling at this point...but here is what I did a while back...maybe it can be stripped for spair parts ;)

Nightspawn Racial Traits
+2 Constitution, +2 Intellegence, –2 Charisma. Nightspawn are physically hardy, and cunning, but unnerving to most people.
Native Outsider: Nightspawn are outsiders with the native & changeling subtypes.
Medium: Nightspawn are Medium creatures and receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Normal Speed: Nightspawn have a base speed of 30 feet.
Darkvision: Nightspawn see in the dark for up to 60 feet.
Claws: Nightspawns’ fingernails are hard and sharp, granting them two claw attacks (1d4 points of damage each). 2RP
Natural Armor: Nightspawn have a +1 natural armor bonus. 2RP
Dreamspeaker (2 RP): Nightspawn gain a +1 bonus to the saving throw DCs of spells of the divination school and spells that produce sleep effects that they cast. In addition, Nightspawn with a Charisma score of 15 or higher may use dream once per day as a spell-like ability (caster level is equal to the user’s character level).
Night Hag Immunities (2 RP): Nightspawn are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws made against enchantment spells and effects.
Keen Senses (2 RP): Nightspawn receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Languages: Nightspawn begin play speaking Common and one ethnic language of their choosing. Nightspawn with high intelligence scores can choose from the following: Abyssal, Acklo, Celestial, Infernal, and Sylvan.


Fire in the Blood (Blood Hag): The changeling gains fire resistance 5
Hyperboreal Witchcraft (Winter Hag): When the changeling casts a spell with the cold descriptor, the save DC of the spell increases by +1.


What sourcebook does the Blood Hag appear in, SwnyNerdgasm? I can't recall ever seeing that creature before.

But thanks to both of you for the comments; I think the pilfered Dreamspeaker trait from your Nightspawn, Nighttree, and SwynNerdgasm's Fire in the Blood and Hyperboreal Witchcraft both make a fair amount of sense as default Hag Racial Traits.

Does anyone have any alternatives? After all, Changelings do have those optional hag trait variations for the Annis/Green/Sea Hag in the Advanced Race Guide...

Thanks for that, Nighttree; I googled the SRD and it mentioned that. Also, there's a Mute Hag in the "The Harrowing" adventure and a Storm Hag in Adventure Path #72 (aka "Reign of Winter Part 6"): "The Witch Queen's Revenge".


I'm just starting a campaign up and am allowing changelings as races, thats why I made up those two traits, I never made a Night Hag trait because as outsiders i just pictured them as creating tieflings instead of changelings. But hey maybe in a few hours I'll try making a night hag version and I'll look up the Storm Hag.


I think Changelings need an Alt Racial Trait like....

Girlpower Drawing on her heritage, this changeling counts as a hag for the purpose of joining a hag's coven. The coven must contain at least one hag.

This replaces the changeling's heritage specific racial trait (ex. Hulking Changeling, Green Widow, Sea Lungs)
