I swear, I was just puzzled and baffled by the elf stuff on the River Sellen...

What elf stuff? What did Strange Aeons do?

So, while I have zero idea if it comes up during the adventure, apparently in the article on the River Sellen (which I have not yet read because my buddy who's DMing Strange Aeons for us says it has stuff he might use) the elves of Kyonin are described as isolationist as hell, AND as having incredibly steep prejudices against half-elves... which,to those of us accustomed to picking the T-Rex's brain, is just... you know, incorrect.

I'm sure there is plenty of blame to go around.

Except me of course. I was unfailingly polite and reasonable. :>

There's locks going up all over the place!

Um... If I caused it, I'm sorry?

It wasn't me, I still have no idea what you're talking about. :-)

This is sadly the toll that must be paid for the lack of individuals to 'Play Nice' on Political Discussions.

Painfully, it also eliminates *helpful* and *useful* threads as well, which will go without naming here for concern of causing further upset.

Perhaps cooler minds and focused discipline within the forum community will help in the future, if such a thing is allowed to resume, but in the meantime we must move on.

Well, at least I know mine are safe.

I think it's fair to say mine are safe as well.

Until someone goes wandering in there and decides to equate whatever topic you have in there with local and current politics in an infantile sense of 'payback'...

...I'm not advocating for this behaviour, but the timing is oddly convenient for certain threads to suddenly have a 'new voice' speaking on them and then they crash and burn within days....

*checks the tin foil hat locker to ensure his is still in there*

I am hoping, after a few weeks and once the current political anxiety has abated somewhat, the politic topics can be opened up again.

Given the loss of some posters in recent years, reduction in paizo folks posting, and a slow down in a lot of areas like the CS subforum and other places I visit alot, I am increasingly feeling detached from the forum in general.

Still haven't seen Scott Betts around...anyone know if he's alright?

Wondering the same. Didn't agree with him on much. Do hope that he is alive and well.

I've tried to check on Betts a couple times the last two months, and the last thing he posted was the earthquake/drought piece of our discussion in one of those threads . . . .

I hope all is well with him, too.

all threads should be locked at 1000 posts

'cause, pfft, we just make new ones about the same topics no matter if they are locked or not

Careful, that's how FaWtL got started, which is now on version 6 (7 if you include Monkey's Treehouse).

On a different note, I'm really bummed that the trolls chased the Creative Directosaur out of his AMA thread.
I wish I knew exactly what happened. Hopefully, it's just "bummed about election, annoyed at snarky posters, taking a break for a while." One of the parting comments expressed about James' seemingly declining creative control, but now we're getting into rumor territory...

There were a handful of posters on that thread that started to monopolize the forum by repeatedly asking the same question in different ways, seemingly trying to get a different answer. There were others that seemed to take great delight in pointing out contradictions in his responses. I was getting annoyed just by reading them, and I'm guessing that the Directorsaur was getting really annoyed.

Honestly, I'm surprised he was able to keep that thread going for as long as he did.

If anyone started an "Ask Haladir Anything" thread, I'm sure I'd burn out a lot sooner that the Directosaur had!

Good to see that the Directosaur has resumed posting!

Well, If Charles Bronson movies are out, how about Chuck Norris- Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection?

can we bring politics back yet

I'm kind of missing the carefree mood they bring to the boards

I found breaking various parts of the website really brings people together.

Not that I would know.

It only brought them together because they couldn't access other subforums.

Which just might be the solution. Hey, got any dynamite? Asking for a friend.

Except better. Because they can't get away.

Apparently science is now "politics"

Hurray for "alternative facts"

In fairness, a march to pressure the government to change its policy about science is politics. Good politics.

You may find this article from two years ago in Canada an interesting read

Ottawa's War On Data

PM me if you want links to the current US volunteer effort to preserve our data before it too disappears. The EPA climate change website has already been taken down by the Trump administration

Looks like the future that was determined was that of the tread itself?

Might be temporary, but I doubt it.

Oh well. I had typed up a couple replies in Textpad, but maybe it's better if I don't post them.

What if personal attacks were used as a reason to lock the electoral process?
:P

What if your car's key fob works by insulting the car doors until they lock?

Duuuude... what's a key fob?????... where are we, man?... are you KC's mom???... weren't there Oreos around here?... where'd we land on the Oreos?... we should totally get some Oreos!

Crashes police car through the wall with KC'S confused mom holding a plate of cookies and riding on the hood. Grabs a cookie, crashes through another wall.

Just noticed I've had my first thread lock. It's not the one I would have expected. :P

Actually, I regularly expect the Paizonian Inquisition!

...but just like the so-called "End of the World" in 2012, I am frequently disappointed.

Well...I guess we'll be seeing a lot less traffic here, going forward.

Shoot. And I'd just opened up the street meat stall, too.
